The exhaust on any given vehicle could be able to move enough to make contact with a trailer hitch. If this happens there are some things that you can do to correct the issue. Resistors aren't generally required when converting a trailer to LED lights because there isn't the need to increase the amperage load like when doing the same conversion on a vehicle.
On a vehicle when you go from incandescent to LED you have to install the resistors so that the thermal flasher unit of the vehicle senses the correct amount of amperage draw to operate properly. It sounds as if you have a faulty ground connection. This could be the ground connection you installed with the 4-Pole Hardwire Kit, # 18252, or a ground on the trailer. When the tail lights are on the amperage draw is higher and a bad ground connection will appear.

Needing a heavy duty flasher might be a possibility, but before going that route, do a bit of troubleshooting. Check your ground connections. A poor ground connection can cause any number of problems with trailer lighting.

This could still be a grounding issue. Though the grounding wire may test successfully, there could still be corrosion or buildup that is preventing a full enough connection to power everything at the same time.
I would start by cleaning the connection points or moving them to another point if that is easier. Once finished, test the main ground on the vehicle and trailer again.

I spoke to my contact at Curt and he informed me that the only way a Curt Wiring Harness part # C56093 would cause a vehicle like your 2014 Ford Taurus to blink faster than normal is if there was a problem internal of the harness.

I can take an educated guess as to what is happening with your turn signals flashing when you hit the brakes after installing the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11140595, and it is very likely a poor or loose ground connection.

It sounds like you may have a blown fuse. The yellow wire that you have connected to the Lt green, and orange striped wire should carry the left turn/brake signal. The green wire that you have connected to the orange with blue striped wire should carry the right turn/brake signal. the brown wire should carry the taillight signal and the ground wire should be secured to a suitable ground. It's possible the converter box has an internal short and that's why the running light circuit isn't working. What you can do first though is try unplugging and replugging in the connections of the harness as sometimes a contact just needs to make better connection. Next thing you can check is use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test for running light circuit voltage on the input side of the box and then again on output when running lights are on.
