Hardwiring a 2004 Ford Taurus
Question:
For the 2004 Ford Taurus, the trailer lights must be hard wired. I have the turn signal lights working fine, but the brake lights wont work. Install diagrams has O/LtBlue for right and Lit Green/orange for left. I using the simple 4 wire flat set.White grounds are mounted to body frame. What have I done wrong? Thanks.

It sounds like you may have a blown fuse. The yellow wire that you have connected to the Lt green, and orange striped wire should carry the left turn/brake signal. The green wire that you have connected to the orange with blue striped wire should carry the right turn/brake signal. the brown wire should carry the taillight signal and the ground wire should be secured to a suitable ground. I would use a circuit tester, item # PTW2993 if needed, on the vehicles wires and verify that the functions are what they are supposed to be. If you cannot find the wire with the brake signal, check your fuses for a blown fuse. If you check the wires and have a brake signal, then you will need to alter the wiring to the correct circuits. If the 4-Way connector is functioning properly you will need to check the trailer for a bad ground or for broken, frayed or pinched wires.
