It's a pain and we get this question daily but the only way to power the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56093, and not damage your Taurus or void the harnesses warranty, is to run a direct line to the battery. The tail light converter needs to be powered by a direct 12v line to your battery to function correctly.

No it will not. It only draws power when the turn signals, brakes, or running lights are turned on and there is a trailer connected to the 4-way. Otherwise there will be no power drain at all.

I looked up the online version of the owner's manual for your 2009 Ford Taurus X and on page 248 it states that your vehicle is rated to tow a trailer weighing up to 2,000 lbs with a max tongue weight of 200 lbs. Then the hitch is fail tested till a safe capacity is decided on. A lot of times the capacity ends up higher than what the vehicle is rated for but the info is still listed so that people know it's a strong trailer hitch that wouldn't fail under normal use. view full answer...
The Curt Class III trailer hitch # C13379 has a 4,000 pound gross trailer weight capacity and 400 pound tongue weight capacity so it can handle the loaded trailer with no problem. The limiting factor is going to be your 2013 Ford Taurus. According to the owners manual only certain models have a tow rating and the ones that do are limited to 1000 pounds gross trailer weight.
The following models have a 1000 pound capacity:
3.5L TiVCT front wheel drive or all wheel drive
2.0L GTDI front... view full answer...
You can use an adapter like part # HTAD, but it will reduce your hitch capacity by 50 percent. Your hitch should have a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds, using this adapter would reduce the hitch capacity to 175 pounds. This means that the combined weight of the scooter and carrier must be 175 pounds or less. All of the 2 inch carriers we have are 80 pounds or more.
Unfortunately we don't have a class III hitch for your vehicle and also don't have hitch carrier with a ramp for class... view full answer...
