Actually, the Swagman XTC2 platform-style bike rack you looked at, part # S64670 would be a good choice. Platform racks are easy to load, and this rack is easy to use. The only possible reason why you might not like this particular rack is that you'll need to remove the bikes before you'd be able to access the rear hatch of your ML350. As long as the 7-way on her 2013 MB ML350 Blue Tech has the 12 volt accessory circuit active (as well as normal trailer wiring circuits), the Tekonsha RF part # TK94FR would be all you need and would work well towing the horse trailer.

When you measure the trailer you want to measure from the bottom lip of the coupler down to the ground when level.
So if you measured from the inside of the ball of your coupler down to the ground most likely you'd need 2 more inches of drop than what you came up with. I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2013 Mercedes-Benz ML350 and found that the vehicle has a 529 pound tongue weight capacity and a 6,613 pound towing weight capacity. The only spare tire mount we offer for a cargo basket is the Spare Tire Carrier for Yakima Roof Cargo Baskets part # Y07076 which is designed to be used with a Yakima cargo basket like the Yakima OffGrid Roof Cargo Basket part # Y07138.
