Weight Distribution System Recommendation for Cargo Patriot Car Hauler Trailer 5,200 lbs

Question:

Hi I need some advice. I have a 2014 Mercedes ML-350 4Matic tow vehicle GVWR 6283 lbs with a Class III hitch rated at 7,200 lbs towing capacity. Im towing a US Cargo Patriot Car Hauler Trailer GVWR 7000 lb. The curb weight of the trailer is 2764 lbs. Im trying to tow a 2011 Shelby Cobra Roadster that weighs 2,250 lbs as well as assorted cargo of approximately 250 lbs. Thus Im trying to tow approximately 5264 lbs with a vehicle rated at 7200 lbs. Should be no problem, but that is the farthest from the truth. Once loaded, the trailer feels like it is both pulling and pushing on the tow vehicle. Hauling the trailer in the current configuration has a high degree of pucker factor to put it mildly. Therein lies my question. Ive heard that a load distribution system would help. Ive also heard that a trailer tongue scale hitch would help as well I have no idea how to measure the actual tongue weight. I also need a 2inch rise from the tow vehicle 15inch high to the trailer 17inch high. I was on your site and saw that you have adjustable hitches with scales as well as weight distribution hitches. Im at a loss and would like your advice as to best solve my problem. Thanks in advance,

Since your trailer weighs more than 50 percent of the towing capacity a weight distribution system would be recommended. Since your loaded tongue weight is going to be between 500 and 750 lbs the Strait-Line System part # RP66083 would be your best option as it has a 400-800 tongue weight range and the only sway control on the market designed to fight sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
