  • Installing Curt Venturer Brake Controller on 2002 GMC Envoy w/ Factory Tow Package
  • You can certainly move the brake controller to your son's 2002 Envoy. Unlike your Ram, the Envoy doesn't have a connector under the dash. There are bare tow package wires that you'd simply wire the brake controller to. I'd recommend using a Curt universal quick disconnect, part # C51515 and wiring it directly to the tow package wiring, which would allow you to easily remove the controller and swap it back and forth between the vehicles if you wish. The wires would connect color for color....

  • Details on Fascia Trimming Required to Install a CURT Front Mount Trailer Hitch, 2008 GMC Envoy
  • The CURT Front Mount Trailer Hitch, # 31055, is the correct front hitch for a 2008 GMC Envoy. We have not yet had the opportunity to install this hitch on a vehicle so I do not have a video or pictures I could link you to. But I have included a link to the installation details that show the trimming that needs to be done. There is a diagram that shows where and how much of the underbody trim panel that needs to be trimmed. It is about a 2-1/2 inch square area that only needs to be trimmed...

  • Is there a Video that Shows How to Perform the Fishwire Technique to Install a Trailer Hitch
  • The CURT Front Mount Receiver, # 31055, does bolt to the vehicle frame rails but the bolts do not go all the way through each frame rail. Instead, like you have said, you will fishwire the hardware into the inside of each frame rail through access holes in the frame. The fishwire technique is not as difficult as you might think. Even though I do not have a video showing the hitch being installed on a 2006 GMC Envoy, I can provide a link that explains and shows how to fishwire hardware....

  • Does Hitch Ball Come Mounted to Brophy Ball Mount with 4 Drop or 3 Rise
  • A hitch ball does not come mounted to the Brophy Ball Mount with 4" Drop or 3" Rise # EA40, and there is not a way to get that as an option. For the hitch balls that work with this mount, either the 2" Hitch Ball # EH68C-C or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # SC30-C, you will need to torque them to 250 ft-lbs according to Brophy. If for some reason you are unable to get that installed yourself, a local installer should be able to tighten the hitch ball to the necessary ft-lbs. I have added a link...

  • How to Install a Brake Controller in a 2002 GMC Envoy
  • The plug in your picture is the OBD II port which is on every vehicle made for the US market since 1996 but you cannot plug a brake controller into it. But you won't need to on your 2002 GMC Envoy because if it came with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then there are already tow package wires tucked up under the dash, to the left of the steering column, held together with a white tag like in the video I have linked showing a TrailBlazer (which was built on the same platform...

  • Connecting Pilot Electric Trailer Brake Controller # 80550 to a 2003 GMC Envoy
  • I can tell you that on the Pilot 2-6 Brake Electronic Brake Controller, # 80550, the white wire is ground, the black wire is 12-volt power, the blue wire is brake output, and the red wire is for the stop light circuit on the brake switch. Vehicle manufacturer wiring colors can vary from year to year and even among vehicles in the same model year. However, it is possible that on your 2003 GMC Envoy, the Dark Blue wire would be for brake output, the red wire would be for 12-volt power,...

  • Installation Instructions for Prodigy P2 Brake Controller in 2004 GMC Envoy with Factory Tow Package
  • The 2004 GMC Envoy with factory tow package should have in place already the necessary wiring for hard-wired installation of a brake controller such as your Prodigy P2. Installation details for this controller will vary from vehicle to vehicle. The circuit breakers referred to are not required for your vehicle since the tow package wiring is in place. In your case your vehicle does not have a port under the dash to allow use of a plug-and-play brake controller adapter harness, but the...

  • Location of Tow Package Wiring 2007 GMC Envoy
  • I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha, who tells me that the tow package wiring should be located under the dash, above where the drivers left knee would be as shown in the video I have linked to. He had no information regarding any other place under the dash where the wiring would be located. If your Envoy does NOT have the factory installed 7-way trailer connector at the rear bumper, the wiring might not be present, and the controller would need to be hardwired using our Brake Controller...

  • Can the 2-Way Pop Up Ventilator be Installed on the Side of a Cargo Trailer
  • I went to the warehouse and pulled the 2-Way Pop Up Ventilator, # RV-626-062, and checked to see if there is a gasket in the opening of the vent and there is. This should keep weather out of the vent when closed. I did a short video showing the gasket and how the ventilator works to open in either direction. Your main concern might be that the vent will stick out 2-1/2 inches when closed and 6-1/2 inches when fully open. As long as the fenders are out farther than this on the sides of...

  • Where Does Spacer Install on RockyMounts SplitRail When Adding 2 Bike Add On
  • I attached a picture of the install instructions for the RockyMounts SplitRail part # RKY11404-4 that you referenced that details the portion that covers the spacer you mentioned. Looking through the included parts that come with this rack it looks like there's only the one spacer and not any extras. For the screw that's not wanting to thread there's a possibility that the threads aren't perfect and that's preventing it from being able to install all the way. Make sure you aren't cross...

  • Recommended Drive Gear on a 2003 GMC Envoy to Flat Tow a Dodge Avenger
  • I would recommend the drive gear instead of gear 1, 2 or 3. Based on the Owners Manual I wouldn't exceed 50 mph for the first 500 miles when using your 2003 GMC Envoy to flat-tow a Dodge Avenger. The reason is your engine needs to adapt to a heavier load. There are 5 components needed to flat-tow your vehicle: Tow bar Base plate kit Safety cable set Tow bar wiring Supplemental braking system I am more than happy to provide you some recommendations! Please let me know what year Dodge Avenger...

  • Installation of Tekonsha P-3 on 2005 GMC Envoy Denali
  • Does your Envoy Denali have the tow package with the 7-way trailer connector on the rear of the vehicle? If so, you would just use the loose tow package wires that are already located under the dash. The circuits involved are already circuit protected, no additional circuit breaker is required. We have an installation video showing how to locate the tow package wiring and how the wires would match up with your brake controller. I will provide a link to the video below. If your Envoy does...
