  • The wheel torque spec for the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 part # 8-91-05UC1 will be between 75-85 ft. lbs. It's pretty low on the scale of torque for wheels so completely fine.

  • Why a 30A Breaker on 12V Feed for Curt Echo Brake Controller When Brake Magnets Only Use 4A Each
  • For the Curt # C51180 Echo wireless brake controller, the circuit ran to the battery doesn't only power the controller and deliver power to the trailer brakes, but it also passes 12-v accessory power through to the trailer. We typically recommend the # ETBC7L install kit which includes a 4 pole to 7-way adapter, a 40 amp breaker to protect the 12-v feed to the battery. I've linked to demonstration videos for the Curt # C51180 Echo Brake Controller as well as for the # ETBC7L install kit.

  • Where does Curt Reference This Trailer Hitch Support Strap?
  • The warranty information page doesn't specify use of the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap # 18050 because it doesn't apply to all of the hitches that Curt manufactures. Curt typically lists this information in the installation instructions pdf for the products that it directly refers to like the 2010 Ford Edge Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III - 2", # C13067. I've attached the link to the installation instructions pdf and you'll see that recommendation in a red box in the upper right...

  • Recommended Battery Disconnect for 2017 Ford Edge SEL Being Flat Towed
  • The battery disconnect kit we recommend for your 2017 Ford Edge SEL is indeed the Roadmaster part # RM-766. Although this operates on the positive battery terminal of a vehicle such as your 2017 Ford Edge SEL the result will be the same: no battery drain. We also recommend using a battery charge line kit # RM-156-25 on your car.

  • Parts Needed to Wire a 2008 Ford Edge with Diodes to Flat Tow Behind an RV
  • To wire a 2008 Ford Edge with Diodes for flat towing, you will actually need a total of 6 diodes OR you need to use the 4 you have and a Brake-lite Relay, # RM-88400. To add two diodes use # RM-792. I have included a link to the instructions for the 6 diode wiring method. The Brake-Lite relay is needed on vehicles with separate lighting if the towed car is wired using a 4-diode kit (instead of a 6-diode kit). There are additional diagrams and instructions for the relay on the product page.

  • Does Heat Shield Get Reinstalled After Installing Trailer Hitch on a 2016 Ford Edge
  • The heat shield on the 2016 Ford Edge does not get replaced after installing Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75234. The hitch basically takes the place of that heat shield so the bumper fascia is still protected.

  • Necessary Modifications to Install Draw-Tite Class III Receiver on 2008 Ford Edge
  • The Draw-Tite Class III Receiver you referenced, part # 75992 does not require any trimming or other modification of the bumper fascia. However, there are two heat shields that are attached to the frame members under the vehicle that will need a bit of trimming. If you look at figure # 2 on the install instructions that I have linked to, you will see a diagram showing the small portions that will need to be trimmed away. This hitch fits all Edge models except for the Sport model. To complete...

  • Installation of Rhino-Rack Fit Kit on 2018 Ford Edge
  • There should not be the gap you are showing. The # DK432 pad should sit right up against that lip in your roof. Some of the whistling is no doubt coming from that fit with a wind tunnel at that location. There will always be some additional wind noise when you add a roof rack, but if you are experiencing an exceptional amount of noise from what you anticipated, you may want to add a fairing to your system. For your crossbar width, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Fairing for Roof Racks...

  • Installation Tips for E-Track Trailer Cargo Control, # E19148
  • Determining the mounting locations of your E-Track, part # E19148, will depend on the construction of your trailer and personal preference. If you are mounting the E-Track on the bed of your trailer, to tie down a car or similar item, you will need to determine the best position for the vehicle or item and the best situation for installing the E-Track. You may need to install bracing under the bed of the trailer to get enough mounting points for a secure installation. It sounds as if...

  • Installation Instructions and Video for Hardwiring Brake Controller in a 2013 Ford Edge
  • I attached a set of instructions and an install video for the Brake Controller Install kit part # ETBC7. It looks like you have a 2013 Ford Edge. The install video I attached shows this kit installing on a very similar 2011 Edge as yours. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount...

  • How Does the Q Clip Attach to the Foot on the Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack on a 2008 Ford Edge
  • The parts that you will need to keep your Q clips attached to your roof rack feet are the Lock Housing for Yakima Q Towers, # Y8870069, and the Lock Fasteners, # Y8810073. You do not need to add the SKS lock cores if you do not plan on using them. The lock housing will insert through the Q clip and the roof rack foot to keep them attached and the lock housing is held in place with the lock fastener. I have attached a video showing how to install the lock housing and fasteners at the...

  • Stay-In-Play DUO Braking System Installation in Vehicle That Requires Battery Disconnection
  • In a vehicle like your 2018 Ford Edge that directs you to disconnect the battery when flat towing the car, the SMI Stay-In-Play Duo # SM99251 monitor light will install with its RED wire attached to the blue wire that goes between the breakaway switch and the operating unit. This step is covered in the linked instructions on page 7.

  • Can Curt Trailer Wiring Power be Connected to 12V Plug in Back of 2019 Ford Edge
  • We get this question a lot and while you can technically install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C89FR in whichever manner you want, if you connect the power wire to that 12V plug on your 2019 Ford Edge as opposed to the battery you run the risk of overloading that circuit and voiding your warranty. Because of this we always recommend routing the power wire directly to the battery, per the instructions, to protect the OEM wiring on your vehicle. Running the power wire to...

  • Is a Brake Light Relay Needed with an Even Brake System on a 2011 Ford Edge
  • Your assumptions about the braking system on the 2011 Ford Edge are correct. An active braking system, also called a continuous power assist system, is different than what is on your vehicle. You can use the Even Brake # RM-9400 with the 2011 Ford Edge. You should not need a brake light relay if you are using a 6-diode kit that uses the vehicle wiring, # 154-792-118158. If you are using a 4-diode kit or any kit that plugs in line with the vehicle wiring then the brake light relay is going...

  • Is Rear Fascia Support Re-Attached When Installing DrawTite Hitch # 75709 on 2013 Ford Edge
  • The rear bumper fascia center support is not re-attached when installing the DrawTite Hitch # 75728 on a 2013 Ford Edge. The fastener that normally secures the fascia center support to the underside of the vehicle is re-attached to the vehicle but the support arm itself is to be folded up out of the way between the bumper cover and the actual bumper structure. There should be no issue with excessive movement of the rear fascia since it is still secured at all other points. The receiver...

  • Can 12V Outlet in Rear Of 2014 Ford Edge be Used For Trailer Wiring Harness Power
  • The problem with using the 12V outlet at the back of your 2014 Edge is that the outlet is on a fused circuit. If the fuse would blow you would not have trailer lights and you would not know it. It can be a bit tough to run the power lead wire to the positive battery post but it really is the only way to be sure you have power to your trailer connector. The trailer wiring harness I recommend is part # 118515. I have attached a link to an installation video for this harness on a 2014 Edge...

  • Why Does the Curt Powered Taillight Converter Have a Wire that Runs to the Battery
  • The reason the Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # C56329 has a power wire is to protect the delicate tail light wiring circuits of your vehicle from being overloaded. The Curt Trailer Harness # C56329 that you referenced uses your tail light circuits as signal wires and then draws the power to illuminate the tail lights of your trailer directly from your vehicle battery through the battery wire of the box. I attached installation instructions, an installation video and an FAQ on routing...

  • Installing the Roadmaster 6-Diode Universal Wiring Kit on a Vehicle with Separate Tail Light Wiring
  • Since your 2012 Ford Edge has a 3-wire, or separate, tail light system and your motorhome has a 2-wire, or combined, tail light wiring system, you will want to use the vehicle to vehicle tail light converter, # 118158, and the two additional diodes, # RM-792, to connect the turn signal wires. The converter will separate the turn signal and brake light signal coming from the motorhome to make it compatible with the taillight wiring on your Edge. You can access the taillight wiring on your...
