How Does the Q Clip Attach to the Foot on the Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack on a 2008 Ford Edge

Question:

I bought a Yakima system without the lock cores or locks.I found the cores on your website and need to know if I have to buy the lock fasteners to keep the lock cores in place? I dont plan on using the locks themselves.I tried installing the system without the lock cores installed and the clips kept falling out. Maybe the cores are the ticket. Thanks

The parts that you will need to keep your Q clips attached to your roof rack feet are the Lock Housing for Yakima Q Towers, # Y8870069, and the Lock Fasteners, # Y8810073. You do not need to add the SKS lock cores if you do not plan on using them.

The lock housing will insert through the Q clip and the roof rack foot to keep them attached and the lock housing is held in place with the lock fastener.

I have attached a video showing how to install the lock housing and fasteners at the 1 minute and 18 second mark.
