I'm not sure what they told you to do, but what the manufacturer has told us regarding this jack is if it is not operating up or down is to first check the grounded 12 volt power supply it is wired to. Hey Russ, the Curt Echo # C51180 will work regardless of if the headlights of the vehicle are off or on. You might be thinking of RV cameras that require the running light circuit of the tow vehicle to be on to be active but the Echo does not look at that circuit at all basically.

The problem is you do have the wrong switch for your door sensor.
Whenever we hear that the steps are working in reverse that usually means you have the incorrect door switch, normally closed vs normally open or it is installed wrong. For a normally closed door switch we have the Lippert Components Kwikee Round Magnetic Door Switch part # LC379400 and for a normally open door switch we have the Lippert Components Kwikee Pleated Plunger Door Switch part # LC379407.

Hey Eric, with that much voltage drop the issue is that the wire length added way too much resistance. The only solution is heavier gauge wire everywhere most likely. I would think that 8 gauge wire would be pretty close if wired everywhere but you might be looking at needing 6 gauge since there's just so much wire. So, it looks like the error code SH is stating a short somewhere on the brake output circuit, and the PL code means that there is power interrupted when stepping on the brakes.
This to me would indicate that there is a definitely a short in your wiring. I recommend going through your wires and look for any broken or damaged wiring. Hey Bob, when just the power and ground is connected on a brake actuator like the Dexter DX part # K71-651 you won't hear the unit prime itself. It would do this once a connection to trailer brakes is made which would be the blue wire that runs to the trailer brakes.

Since all of the keys have the same number that does mean that all of the lock cores were designed to use the same key. What probably happened was that the place you bought it from did you a solid and picked accessories that all used the same lock number for this reason. Hey Travis, so the Curt Echo # C51180 doesn't have a way to apply brakes to one side of the trailer more than the other. It can only put out one brake signal so if you have problems with one side of the trailer brakes it's not the brake controller.
