I have a great solution for you. Since Class I hitches only come with a hitch receiver of 1-1/4 inches, the Thule T2 Pro XTR will not fit a Class I hitch. The reason why it won't fit is because the Thule Pro XTR is only made for 2-inch hitch receivers, which come with a rating of Class III, Class IV, and Class V. I spoke to my contact at Draw-Tite and he said that the hitch # 24796 can be used on the 2013 Nissan Altima 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder as long as it is a sedan. However, if your owners manual says that the 4-cylinder models should not have hitches installed on them then you should go with their recommendation so as not to void your warranty.

This is a little strange considering that a 215/60-16 tire is about 26.16 inches in diameter and a 245/35-20 is about 26.75 inches in diameter. That is a difference of only 0.59 inches which is in between 9/16 and 5/8 of an inch. Half of that extra height is applied to the upper have of the tire so only about 5/16 inches closer to the wheel well ceiling. I just assumed there was more space in the wheel well.

I had something similar happen with a cargo carrier recently. I installed it in the hitch and noticed it was difficult to slide in, but once it was in there it was not wanting to come out. I was able to fit myself between the rack and the vehicle and push hard while wiggling it back and forth and it came out.
