It does use the vehicle's brakes, and to oversimplify, how it works is the brake lights of your motorhome and an inertia sensor will activate the brakes of your vehicle with the same intensity of your motorhome. It sounds like you have a 3-wire system on the tow vehicle and you're connecting to a 2-wire system trailer so you'd just need a converter like the Curt # C56196 to make the your lights function properly. The Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System # DM26VR will work with your 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. This is assuming your RV has air brakes. For hydraulic brakes I recommend the Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo # SM99251. The battery disconnect you need is the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect # RM-766.

The ground for the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400 typically gets tied into the ground for the braking system to intertwine them so that they're active at the same time. When used to prevent turn signals from overriding the brake signal the relay is essentially just a switch that requires the running light signal from the motorhome in order for it to turn on so that it doesn't interfere with the vehicle's signals when not being towed.

Yes, you can use the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV on a trailer being towed behind a 5th wheel. You will want to also use a Curt Echo # C51180 brake controller with this to control the trailers brakes when stopping. The only reason the systems wouldn't work is if they are not getting a sufficient power supply from the tow vehicle which may require you to run a dedicated power wire through the 5th wheel for the rear trailers 7-way connection. view full answer...
Hey Ken, so I pulled up an online version of the owners manual of your 2023 GMC Canyon and found that the negative battery cable does need to get disconnected when flat towing the vehicle. This is in step 10 which is on page 316.

AAMCO most likely disconnected it when they did work on your vehicle since most vehicles require disconnected the battery before doing so so my guess would be that they forgot to reconnect it at the battery upon completion of the work so you should check there. Based on the fact you're adding the InvisiBrake # RM-8700, I believe you have one of the Curt tow bar wiring harnesses and you aren't actually referring to a trailer wiring harness or trailer lights. More than likely the problem is the diode installation. Double check the diodes and make sure the connections are correct. This is the only thing I know of that would cause the lights to stop working. It wouldn't hurt to double check the rest of the installation just to be sure. view full answer...
The steering wheel shouldn't be locked when flat towing since the wheels need to be able to turn. I'm assuming since the manual says to turn the ignition to lock that it won't be a problem and still allows them to turn. It is always important to follow the owner's manual when flat towing. If you really want to be sure I would talk to your local dealer about it first.

Since you can't use a weight distribution hitch and don't want to drill through the aluminum frame I recommend attaching the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV to a board and using some U-bolts to clamp the board to the frame. Once mounted you'll just need to plug your trailer's 7-way cable into it and use the True Course 7-way cable to plug into your Range Rover.
