It won't fit because the brackets are completely different. The 2008 GMC Sierra's are a different generation than a 2005. GM made some significant changes to their trucks for the 2008-2013 generation. These are designed to be bolted on only, no drilling, to supports and mounting points underneath your truck. They'll be in different locations and most likely a different size on the older trucks. The bars themselves also follow the contour of the trucks body which changed with the new generation.

First I should mention that Curt trailer hitch # C15323 will only fit your 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 if it is an LD (light duty) model. It will not fit a 2500HD (heavy duty) model.

To determine if the clearance is going to be an issue you will want to measure from the center of the trailer hitch jaws straight back to the end of the tail gate when down. Then compare that to the distance from the center of the king pin on the trailer straight back to the trailer overhang (or where ever it might contact the lowered tail gate). With these measurements it should become clear if there will be an issue.

You're correct. When installed, the # 13322 (visible cross tube) is going to be 20" from the top of the hitch to the ground, where the # 13301 (concealed cross tube) is going to be 18-1/2" from the top of the receiver to the ground; this puts the # 13322 as likely to match the OEM hitch height a little bit closer. It likely stems from the concealed tube hitch compensating a little extra to clear the bumper.

I spoke to my contact at Andersen and he informed me that the Andersen Camper Leveler part AM3604 that you referenced has a lifetime warranty. If it ever were to break they would replace it for free.
He also mentioned that he has sold thousands of these and has maybe had to replace 5 due to them breaking. Nothing is indestructible, but I would almost guarantee these would not break for you. They are also made in the USA.

A pickup's towing capacity depends on several details of its configuration; these include engine, drivetrain, cab style and bed length. We measured the TorkLift StableLoad # TLA7310S and found that from the center of the mounting hole to the furthest edge is 3-5/8 inches on one side, and 2-1/8 inches on the other side. The hanger spacing needed for use with the # APT9 is 29-1/2 inches measured on center of the bolt holes. This works well with the equalizer since it's length (7-3/4 inches) is split on each side of the equalizer.
