This disc brake lock will deter most thieves looking to make a quick snag. If locking cables or chains feel too bulky to carry, this disc brake lock is a great alternative. Just slip it over your moped's disc brake and push the button to lock it.

Choosing the Right Disc Lock for Your Bike

Start by taking a look at your disc brake. Does it have slots or holes in it, or is it solid?

Vented disc with lock pin through slot

If it has slots or holes then you have a vented disc. Measure from the edge of the rotor to the edge of one of the slots. Then measure the slot. You'll need a lock with a locking pin small enough to fit through the slot and a throat long enough to clear the section of your rotor you measured.

Solid disc with lock pin clearing rotor

If your rotor is solid, measure the overall width. The lock you buy will need to to have a throat long enough that the entire thing can fit around your rotor with the locking pin securing inside the disc instead of through a slot.

Installation and Removal

Installing this lock on your bike is quick and easy.

Attach the reminder cable

1. Slip the reminder cable into the channel of the lock.

Install the Screamin' Demon Alarm

2. Slide the lock over your bike's brake disc and press the button down to lock the unit. If you have a vented disc and the slots are smaller than the lock pin, you can set the pin through one of the slots. Otherwise, you'll have to make sure the locking pin clears your disc to lock.

Loop reminder cable around your handlebar

3. Loop the reminder cable around your handlebar. The bright orange cable lets potential thieves know your bike is protected, and it will serve as a good reminder to remove the lock before you ride. If you don't remove the lock before riding, you could potentially break your wheel, so don't forget to remove it!

Video Transcript for Trimax Motorcycle Disc Brake Lock Review

It's not a bad idea to lock up your stuff whenever it's just sitting out for the night or you're just going in to grab something from a random store. This is the Trimax Hardened Disc Lock. And it's gonna go around the disc of your motorcycle or your scooter to make sure no one's gonna be able to roll it off. There's not a whole lot to it. We do have a little plastic door which is nice and easy to put on there. Better than some of the rubber caps that you see.

Those are just a little bit more difficult to put on. We're gonna have a couple keys with our kit and this is gonna be a drill proof locking core. Once we loosen that up, it will come off just like that. But you don't really need these keys to lock it into place. So what I'm doing right now, I'm actually using the slots on the brake itself because it doesn't really wanna reach all the way through here because of our little cable.

So we'll give you those measurements here in a second but the pin diameter is gonna be 5.5 millimeters. So it should fit through your slots. If you do have slotted rotors. One of our three keys has a light on it. So if you're doing this at night it's not gonna be too difficult to find your spot.

It's pretty bright but that's only gonna be one of the three keys. I like how they gave us three. Our lock's gonna be made of hardened steel. Gonna be really hard to cut through. I really don't think anybody's gonna be able to do it.

It's nice and bright and yellow, but there is a orange little cable here. It's four foot long. I do appreciate that they threw in this little cable cuz I will accidentally leave this on at some point. So this is gonna prevent that from happening. As far as dimensions go, we're gonna have the length being around two and a half inches. It's gonna be about an inch and one eighth wide. And it's overall height, when this is locked, and the door is closed, about two and a quarter inches. Just to give you an idea of if this one is gonna be the best. So without the little cable right here, it fits really, really nicely. Push it in and lock it. And it goes all the way over top of our rotor. There's hardly any play there at all. That's kind of the fit I'm looking for. But, again, I want this to be on my bike cuz I'm gonna forget that this is here. So that's the issue that we're having. So, to give you an idea if this is gonna be the best one, the gap from the inside of that little piece right here to the very end here is about an inch and a half. And that's the same exact size as our little rotor right here. So if you have the same size rotor, it's about that, we're not really gonna be able to put this cable on and go all the way around the rotor which isn't a necessity. If you do have slots like this, and the holes are right, that's how I had it set up on this one. So we can get the cable and the lock on there. But if you don't really wanna have to mess with that, if you don't have slotted rotors, or whatever the situation is, we do have a bigger one, like this. Which it'll be a little bit sloppier. Like it'll just have a little bit more play, but I don't think that that's gonna really matter. Ultimately this is just still gonna be quite a pain to get off. So this isn't just going to prevent somebody from getting on turning the key and taking it. Also just wheeling your bikes off. This is gonna catch on our little caliper up here and they're not gonna be able to move. So it's kind of a double security thing, but we have two different sizes to fit whatever kind of bike that you have. We do get a carrying case with both of the sizes. You can either wrap it around something like this. It just has a little loop on the back or you can also store it somewhere. And I got everything to fit. The keys, the cable, and the lock. So, if you put it on the outside of your motorcycle it will always be super accessible and you'll never forget to do it. And that's pretty much it. That's the way you lock up your motorcycle so it doesn't run off on you. And that'll do it for a look at the Trimax Hardened Steel Wheel Lock..
