Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Suspension - Leaf Spring Suspension - 093026 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the 6" tall Rear Hanger Bracket for 2-1/2" wide Slipper Spring. Now this heavy duty rear bracket will connect the slipper end of the slipper spring to your trailer. The hanger will suspend the spring from the trailer frame by providing a resting place for the slipper end of the spring. It is a weld-on installation, attaches to the underside of the trailer frame. Now, this hanger is specifically designed for trailers with 9,000 lb, 10,000 lb, or 12,000 lb Hayes axles. It is for a quantity of one hanger. Again, the application, this for the rear of the Slipper Spring.

I do want to give you some overall dimensions. The length from this edge to this edge it's going to be right at 4". The height from the very bottom to the very top is going to be right at 7-3/4" tall. The overall width from end to end is right at 3-3/4 or 3-1/2" wide. The inside width where the spring would go is right at 2-3/4".

Again, this is designed to fit 2-1/2" wide slipper springs. When they call this a 6" tall rear hanger, basically if you measure from the center of the hole up to the top of the bracket, it would be right at 6". That should do it for the review on the 6" tall Rear Hanger Bracket for 2-1/2" wide slipper springs.

  • What Does Hole In Rear Hanger For 2-1/2" Wide Hanger Used For?
The Rear Hanger for 2-1/2" Wide Slipper Springs - 6" Tall # 093026 you were looking at has a hole just to allow you to measure the height of the hanger, and the hole lines up with the bottom of the support that the hanger rests against. To measure your hanger you will need to measure from the top of the hanger to the center of the 5/16" bolt hole you mentioned to get the length. You will also need to measure the inside width of the hanger as slipper springs can be 1-3/4" - 3" wide....

  • Raising a Trailer that Already has the Springs Over the Axles
Replacing the springs with ones that have another leaf isn't going to raise the trailer. Since the springs flex they'll just flex more or cause the ride to be stiff and therefore wear the suspension system out sooner. The only options you have to raise your trailer since the springs are already over the axles is to replace the hangers with longer ones and get larger tires. Neither will have all that much impact.
