Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan, we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Custom Fit Class III trailer hitch receiver. Offering the two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, its part number is 75658. Here's what our hitch is going to look like installed. As you can see, we're not adding a whole lot to the rear of the vehicle, so it's going to maintain its quality looks. Basically, what we'll see is our receiver tube opening here. You've got the reinforcement collar, which is a nice, rounded look. Then our safety chain connection points here.
The rest of the bracket and stuff is right up underneath here, which is an extremely easy hitch to install. Now, this is a Class III hitch, so we've got a two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, and it makes it an extremely versatile hitch. Now, when we secure those items, we always want to use the pinhole located closer to the front of the vehicle. It's the larger of the two. It's 5/8 of an inch in diameter, and there's a good amount of room around there for whatever locking hitch, pin, or anti-rattle device you might decide to use. The one located further to the rear is only for use with the J-Pin Stabilization System. Now, when we use accessories on our hitch, we've got to watch our weight ratings.
The hitch is going to have a 350 pound tongue weight rating, so that's the maximum downward force we can put at the receiver tube opening, and it gives us a 3500 pound gross trailer weight rating. That's going to be the total weight of your trailer and anything that you add on to it. Now, you also want to check the owner's manual on the Tiguan to see what its tow rating is and use whichever of those are the lowest. Also, something to keep in mind, the hitch is not rated for use with weight distribution. Now, a few measurements that you'll find helpful when it's time to select your ball mount bike rack or hitch cargo carrier will be from the ground to the inside top edge of the receiver tube opening, we've got about 15 1/2 inches. Then from the center of our hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of our bumper, it's about three. Now, to begin our installation, we need to just trim out the little panel here.
That's going to allow us to see up to our weld nuts located behind. I'm going to come over six and a half inches from that outside edge. We'll use a straight edge to square that off and get it trimmed out with a razor knife. Now, let's get those cleaned out. You can use a little bit of spray lubricant here and a nylon tube brush.
This is part number 814092. Now, we'll get our hitch raised up into position. You'll see this lip on the front. You just have to get that in first, rotate it up, and we'll just install our bolts in the four locations. Mechanical tube washer, just want to make sure that the teeth of that washer are facing up toward our hitch when we get it installed. With all four installed, we'll snug them down, and then we'll torque them to the specifications listed in our instructions. . All right, at that point, our hitch is ready for use. That will complete our instillation of the Draw-Tite Custom Fit Class III trailer hitch receiver, part number 75658 on our 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan.

This receiver is well built and compact. It is simple to install, requiring only one person. When mounted to the Tiguan, it is out of the way and does not detract from the appearance of the car. After selling my Rav4 I needed receiver to mount my bike rack to a VW Tiguan. This receiver met all of my needs. The bike rack is simple to mount and secure. I really appreciated the video that explained how to mount the receiver to the car. The tip about cleaning out the mounting nuts attached to the car was most helpful. The bolts easily slid into place and threaded in beautifully. My car had 28,000 miles on it when I installed this part. Those mounting nuts cleaned up in no time when I used the recommended brush and a little WD40.

Perfect fit for my 2014 Tiguan. The receiver that Volkswagen offered may have been good enough, but it's size did not allow me to use the hitches that I already had. So even though this receiver is over rated for my 2200lb limit on the Tiguan, it is sturdy, still shiny from original paint, and should at this rate last many years. I also love how easy your site is to find the parts you need, and when I was in doubt of something, your customer service was very friendly and helpful. I also just love the J- pin stabilization pin and barrel lockset I ordered with the receiver. There is no rattle or movement coming from the trailer, and it locks the receiver to the vehicle.

This trailer hitch is perfect for my 2015 VW Tiguan! That has to be the easiest installation ever. I’m a 64-year-old woman and did this by myself in 20 minutes following the YouTube video verbatim! I was able to cut right into the facia very easily with a box cutter. I was so afraid at first because I don’t want to screw things up but the instructions are perfect and this trailer hitch will do the job for me. I am getting an extension to reduce the size 2 1 1/4 inch for my bike rack. But was bad planning on my part but it’s already in the mail. The trailer is the only way for me to go. Just purchased this hitch to put on my 2017 VW Tiguan. Very easy to install. Only took me about 15 to 20 minutes. Only tools needed are a cutting knife, a ruler and a socket wrench. Pictures show the hitch, the tools, the area under the bumper to cut out (directions say cut 6.5 inches but I did 7 inches to make sure I had plenty of room to out in the hitch), the area where the hitch will be attached and then what the hitch looks like after the installation. Now i just need to get a boat!

A snap to install. Took only 20 minutes or so. Hardest part was trimming the bumper with a utility knife. And, of course, that was simple. Wiring the connector was a bit more tricky as the pre-wired plug isn't very long. I had wanted to mount it facing backwards but had to settle on facing down, as in the pictures. Still trying to find some way to reorient it. Overall, very happy with the hitch. (NOTE: you MUST get either the VW trailer module or the harness kit for the lights to work. Pre-wired cars will NOT work otherwise; you'll be plugging your trailer into a dead socket.)

Another great hitch and wiring. Installed on Tiguan already.Takes 15 minutes, wiring takes 30 minutes. Still towing 25 yr old aluminum trailer I built.
I will add a basket for gas cans weld one up or buy one? Don't know yet looking through junk pile for steel.
Should last until I get hit again, the hitch will help in an impact.
Last one on Camry took 45 mph hit from rear stopped at light. impact bent the frame
totaled car.
will re -cut and weld the old hitch into something else.

Everything went perfect. Hitch was shipped immediately after ordering and the package arrived in good condition. The item was well packed. Installation on my car was very simple (no drilling, removing of exhaust, etc), but the directions were very clear. Literally just cut out a small piece of the plastic fascia and install with four bolts. Took about 10 minutes. Just make sure you have a torque wrench to get the proper tightness. This was purchased to hold a bike rack and it everything fits great. Kind of shocking that a car dealer wanted several hundred dollars to put a hitch on the car I just purchased. Very glad I ordered from this website.

Still great. I only use it for a bike rack so I cant comment on its towing ability but Ive been very happy. It holds the bike rack very steady even at Interstate speeds. A friend asked me about it and he bought one for his car for a bike rack and I know hes been very happy with it. He was also amazed how easy it was to install although he had to lower the exhaust and how ridiculous it was that a car dealer wanted to charge him so much to do it.

I installed the hitch on a 2013 VW Tiguan. It only took 15 minutes. It was easy to install. I was a little nervous about cutting into the bottom of the bumper. It wasn't bad though. The hitch shipped out very quickly. I am completely satisfied and will shop with etrailer again.

The 2017 VW Tiguan manual says that there is a towing "eye" that will screw into a hole in he rear bumper. The hole is there but no threads to screw into. I purchased the trailer hitch to solve the problem as VW took no responsibility. The hitch is great, it fits as advertised and the service was excellent!!

Installed on my '16 Tiguan. Recommend you Youtube and watch a few others install first. I have the "R Line" which does not have the squares in the bumper cover predefined so I measured and cut a small rectangle freehand. Installing myself was super easy.
Overall, its a very durable hitch at a great price!
