Note: This rack receiver is for hitch-mounted accessories only. The receiver tube included with this hitch cannot be used for towing.
If you would like to upgrade this rack receiver for towing, you will need to purchase the Stealth Hitches towing kit (SH53GR for the 2023-2024 Telluride, 391CONVPT5L for the 2020-22 Telluride - both sold separately). The ball mount included in this kit inserts into the center block of the hitch in place of the receiver attachment. A 2" hitch ball is included with the ball mount, making it ready to tow with out of the box.
If you want to take your bikes to the trail with your family this summer, you have plenty of options. You can carry your bikes on top of your car with a roof rack, but that bulky rack can increase drag on your ride. You can use a trunk rack, but that's a pain to mount and it can scratch your car's paint. Or you can install a hitch on your ride and use a hitch-mounted bike rack to carry your bikes.
This rack receiver is designed to act as a mounting point for your hitch bike rack or cargo carrier. Just slide the shank of your carrier into the receiver for use, and when you're done you can not only remove the carrier, but the receiver as well, leaving your vehicle looking clean and unmodified.
Nothing can ruin the clean, stylish look of your vehicle like a giant piece of metal bolted beneath its bumper. Luckily, with the Stealth Hitches rack receiver, you never have to worry about messing up your vehicle's lines.
This hitch installs behind your bumper, keeping the cross tube concealed and leaving only the hitch receiver visible. Even better, the receiver can be easily removed from the cross tube when it's not in use so that you won't see any trace of the hitch. This means that you can retain that clean, from-the-factory look for your ride, while still being able to carry your bikes and gear on the next family road trip.
The receiver can be attached or detached in seconds with no tools required. To insert the receiver, simply pop the base up into the stainless steel block at the center of the hitch until it automatically latches in place.
Be sure to then press the lock on the side of the block to fully secure the receiver. When you're finished carrying your bikes or cargo, use the included key to unlock the latch. Then turn the handle on the block clockwise and remove the receiver. You can stow the receiver in a safe place, like your vehicle's rear cargo area, or you can use a convenient carrying case (391CASER - sold separately).
And when you're not using the receiver attachment, the included hitch plug covers the center block's opening to protect the hitch's body from dirt and debris.

Only for use with hitch-mounted racks and carriers.This was bought for my 2024 Telluride SX Prestige X-Line. I bought the 2023 version hitch. Everything fit perfectly. I used ramps to raise the rear end. My tools were mainly socket wrenches from both sides of the bolts using socket drive extensions, swivels and torque wrench as needed. I used Liquid Wrench to lube the rubber exhaust mounts and my hands actually worked better than pry bars for me. Don’t forget to use your ratcheting strap to lower your exhaust safety. I did this job by myself (not recommended for the casual do-it-yourselfers. USE TWO PEOPLE!). I used a floor jack and board to lift the hitch into place (also not recommended) so, I could tack it in place on one end with one bolt and, then go to the other end to tack it in place. One recommendation not mentioned in etrailer’s nice video concerns the long horizontal bolt that goes through the right rear corner of the frame. There is a heat shield for the muffler attached above that bolt hole that robs some the clearance for that bolt and washer to pass through the frame. On this bolt only hold the washer on the frame hole and, then push the bolt through the hole. I used a tiny hammer to tap the bolt past the heat shield. If you push the washer all the way onto the bolt before trying to push the bolt through the hole you will never get the washer to go pass the heat shield. Notice in my picture that Kia has brought back the removable center bumper piece for a the standard trailer hitch that was on the 2022 Telluride but missing on the 2023 Telluride. I am assuming Kia will have the molded piece for a standard trailer hitch that snaps into that space available for order eventually. The factory plug for a trailer harness is still not on the 2024. I like the stealth hitch better even it is very expensive. The quality is awesome, the fit/tolerances are tight.
Works great so far. We've attached a four-bike bike rack to ours and have hauled four bikes to and from multiple places multiple hours away. Prob around 200 lbs all told bike weights plus the weight of the rack on the receiver. Furthest bike is maybe three feet away from the hitch.
Easy install! Nice not having an ugly rusted receiver sticking out below your bumper.
2022 Kia Telluride S
I was really excited to find a high quality hitch that does not require any trimming of the bumper and is invisible when not in use.
I agree with the previous review. You should read and understand the installation instruction before buying and commencing the project. the eTrailer install video is a perfect guide as well.
With the necessary tools, I installed it on my own in a few hours. I had to buy a 15/16 wrench and 15/16 socket in order to attach the receiver block because my set did not include these.
I did have one hiccup. A couple of the supplied bolts were the wrong length/thread type. I was able to find what I needed at Home Depot and Stealth Hitches promptly reimbursed me. I recommend that you test each and every bolt BEFORE you start the project. I learned of my problem after dropping the exhaust, which was inconvenient.
Other than that, this was a fun project I managed by myself. Perhaps the 2022 undercarriage is a little tighter, but I had to hammer the hitch to get it completely in place. I used a mallet and block of wood in order to protect the paint finish.
My friends, family and neighbors are in awe of how I have an invisible hitch. I love it!

This rack is fantastic. Fits absolutely perfectly behind the bumper. Not visible at all with the hitch attachment disconnected.
I did this install myself and it took just over an hour.
I watched the video twice and then used the printed instructions in the box.
There wasn't a Telluride-specific video at the time of my install, but the video for the Palisade is exactly the same instructions since the vehicle is exactly the same underneath.
The video is a huge help in terms of knowing what to do, where to look, and in what order.
I did this install in my driveway as I don't have a lift and wanted to try and do it myself.
That said, I did get a set of the Rhino Ramps and it really helps to have the vehicle up so you can move your arms and use tools under the vehicle. I am sure you could do the install without ramps, but it is way easier to use a long handled torque wrench with the vehicle up on ramps. The ramps are great, I have used them with my diesel F250 (very heavy) and they are super sturdy.
Definitely look at the instructions as there are some tools that are very important.
Definitely want a 3/4" open ended wrench. Even if you have two ratchets with 3/4" sockets, the clearance for the bolt under the vehicle when you are torquing the bolts will be much easier with an open ended wrench.
For the exhaust, you need a strap. I would definitely suggest a cambuckle strap as it makes lowering the exhaust incredibly easy. A ratchet strap will work, but is not as easy to release a ratchet strap as it is a cambuckle strap. You are using the strap to lower the exhaust not raise it, so you will have an easier time with a strap that lets out easier.
Don't be intimidated by the exhaust isolators. It is easy. Do get some silicone spray lube as the instructions recommend. You can likely pull them off by hand with some silicone on there. You can definitely put them back on by hand.
Bottom line, this is a great system, perfectly fit to the vehicle, and totally unseen when not in use.
Welds under the Kia where the install occurs prevented a flush install.
