I've ordered a couple products from etrailer.com in the past and as usual their customer service is Outstanding! This time I ordered the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver (Item # C13388) for my 2023 Sprinter 144 Crew van. Paul B and Teresa T were very quick in returning my emails and calls when I received the first hitch in damaged condition. They apologized for the inconvenience and sent me a replacement immediately. Unfortunately the replacement hitch was also damaged on most of the edges, but not as extensive as the first shipment. Both times the shipping box was blown out on each side in multiple places. I learned from talking with Paul B at etrailers.com that the damage to the edges of the hitch originates from the way the manufacturer ships the product to them in a stacked arrangement. Don't be surprised if your hitch arrives protruding from the box in multiple places from bouncing around unpadded inside during shipment. I think some extra cardboard padding on all the steel edges and/or a more heavy duty shipping box would help greatly.
Be prepared to repaint several spots on your new hitch, unless you want the rusting process to begin prematurely.
5-stars for customer service. 3-stars for product arrival.

The hitch itself is fairly straightforward to mount. For this design/model I would recommend an initial "mock-up" mounting of the hitch so you can accurately mark and drill the two under-frame holes for the 1/2" carriage bolts. Dropping the spare tire isn't necessary, but you will want to disconnect the exhaust pipe from the hanger and secure it off to the side to allow room to work. I would also suggest to drill the two under-frame holes 5/8"- 11/16" to make the "fishing" process of the spacer and 1/2" carriage bolt go much smoother. Drilling the frame with a metal bit goes much easier than expected. The instructions do not give any guidance as to what size these holes should be drilled. Install did not take more than 1hr including drilling.

by:

The hitch mount was very easy to install! I have never had to fish a bolt through a frame before and that ended up being pretty straightforward. I had to buy a 5/8" metal bit to drill the holes which was easy enough. I do wish the directions mentioned what size bit to buy, but since the bolts are 1/2", it would make sense anything larger than 1/2" would work. Overall, great product from etrailer and an even better experience! Nice work team! Also, shoutout to Carol C for the follow up email!

I installed this myself and it went very smoothly and a year later it is still rock solid and towing strong.

Mercedes-BenzSprinter

I bought this a year ago for my Sprinter and it has worked well. It handled a 5000# car trailer with no problems and I appreciate the minimalist design compared to the factory hitch. I sprayed on an extra layer of bedliner and there hasn't been a speck of rust despite copious salt use in my neck of the woods.

by:
2019 Ram 2500

The product is solid, like every other hitch I've got from etrailer.com.
It was easy to install on my 2019 Sprinter van 2500. The instructions were straight forward and it didn't take a very long time to install the hitch (Maybe 20min total)
I really like the way it seats underneath the bumper

by:
2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500

Super easy install and perfect fit for my 2019 Sprinter 2500. Given that my intended use for the hitch was to attach a bike rack or additional storage, versus towing, I did not install the additional bolts that require drilling. Looks great, low profile

by:
Ram 2500

I installed on 2500 sprinter model. I didnt realize you have to cut an access hole for 2 bolts with that model but other than that easy install with 2 people.

by:
2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500

The product was shipped in a really heavy duty box but still came pretty banged up. The instructions were good but this was supposed to be a bolt-in product. One of the holes needs to be drilled but since the entire frame is boxed I can't get the hardware through the other side.

For your 2019 M-B Sprinter 2500, the bolt hole for the underside attachment point will need to be drilled. There should be a larger access hole into the box frame further up the frame. The hardware will then be fishwired through the larger access hole into the bolt hole to attach the hitch. I have linked the installation instructions for you.

2019 Mercedes-BenzSprinter

Installed on a 2019 Sprinter 4x4 for approximately a year, then removed it to install an Aluminess bumper/receiver/storage box/spare tire kit. There is a lot to like about this Curt receiver. The fit and finish are up to Curt's usual standards, and I like how the Curt receiver required drilling two vertical holes in the subframe to provide additional points of contact for the hitch receiver. I would trust the Curt receiver more than the Aluminess bumper/receiver/etc when towing a trailer with a weight-distribution hitch. However, because we need external storage and a second spare tire more than we need the ultimate Class III receiver, I removed the Curt. This is not a criticism of the Curt, and I don't regret the purchase.

Mercedes-BenzSprinter

For '09 Sprinter 3500. Good product, good fit. Less prone to rust than other brands.
Includes Grade 8 bolts. With other brands, I have had to purchase grade 8 bolts, because only grade 5 were included.
I only pull fairly light trailers. I wouldn't anticipate any problems with any size trailer.
A tab on the drivers side for the lights plug would be helpful. Self tapping screws in the side worked fine though.
If thread lock tape or liquid was included, that would be nice.
Thanks for providing a quality product and a reasonable price and super fast shipping.
etrailer is always great to do business with.
Thanks,
Keith

2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500

Hitch is in great shape and installed super easy.

by:

Stout hitch that matches the quality of the factory unit. My van came with a factory hitch which I sold when I installed an aluminess bumper. After realizing the massive flaws with the aluminess bumper I tried to find another factory hitch for a decent price. Failing I bought this. Very impressed with this hitch. My bikes bounce less on this hitch than the factory unit. The 600lb tongue probably has something to do with it either way a great alternate to a very expensive Mercedes’ unit. S always etrailer is a great outfit.

by:

Product worked as described and at a good price. Shipped and arrived quickly. The box was beat up and hitch was coming out of it when it arrived. This meant that the hitch was scuffed, chipped, and a bit beat up when I got it, which was disappointing.

I apologize about the scuffed hitch. Next time something is damaged in shipping please contact etrailer.com within the return policy timeframe of 60 days. You will want to cover the scratches with anti-corrosive spray paint to keep rust at bay.

2007 Dodge Sprinter

My van had most of the holes pre-drilled.
Got
it installed in under an hour with the help of the buddy.
Five stars

by:

Very solid hitch, well made. It took me about 3 hours to install. Requires drilling two holes on the underside of the vehicle frame, the using a wire to fish the bolts into the frame of the vehicle. I could not accomplish the install until I modified the provided tool by adding an additional two foot section of bailing wire to the provided tool. I had some difficulty with understanding the provided instructions. The instructions could be a little more user friendly. Overall, I am very pleased with the this hitch and how it is installed on the vehicle.

by:
2008 Dodge Sprinter

the Curt hitch for my Sprinter 2500, 144WB is great. It bolts right on and the only questionable part is drilling into the frame with ? drill bit. That a pretty big drill bit and the website doesn't tell you the drill size needed, but does mention "drilling required". Other than that all went smoothly. All hardware provided and the hitch was packaged very well. Hard to beat etrailer for quick and free shipping !

by:
Ram 2500

The installation instructions don't exactly work for a 2021 Sprinter 2500. The access hole to fish the vertical hardware through doesn't exist as the instructions point out. There is a smaller hole on the side of the rail, but it would have to be made larger to fit the bolt head through. Even if it was made larger I wasn't convinced the plate would fit through, given how long it is, and I didn't want to add another hole to the bottom of the rail. Instead I opted to not install the vertical hardware, though I'm not sure what impact that has on the rating of the receiver. I don't plan on towing anything too heavy, but if you are, I can't recommend this receiver for this van.

2015 Mercedes-BenzSprinter

Curt Hitch was self installed in about an hour. Did not run into any difficultly. I used a small car jack to help me lift up the hitch into place so that I can push the bolts through the holes. All-in-all a pretty smooth process. The hitch fit 2015 sprinter without factory rear step very well and looked good.

Arrived within 2 days and fit perfectly. Installation took 30mins.
