This review will only cover the installation of the hitch since I haven't towed anything with it at this time.
The installation was relatively simple, and I was able to complete it without any assistance. Laying on my garage floor I pushed up the tow bar in the middle with one hand and screwed in one fine thread top bolt on the RH side and then maneuvered my hands and did the same on the LH side. Screwed the other two bolts in the top angle and hand tightened. Installed remaining bolts per the instructions without a hitch. (no pun intended) Tightened all of the side plate bolts first and the four top fine thread bolts last. This allowed the side plates to pull up nicely with the bumper support thingy. The only problem I had was I didn't have a socket and wrench for the 1/2" bolts. The size is not specified in the instructions or they have changed the type of bolts. The other bolts were 19mm and 17mm which didn't match the instructions either. Fortunately I had purchased a metric set of sockets and wrenches up to 19mm. Had to borrow the stuff for the 1/2" bolts from the neighbor, which I really don't like doing.
Ultimately the hitch is very well made and easy to install. Fit and finish are excellent. :)

2012 Toyota Tundra

I recently purchased a hitch set up for my Toyota Tundra. I installed the towing kit without having to drill any holes. It arrived in a timely manner and I am very pleased with cost and the product!
I plan to pull a trailer withe towing package. I also purchased a bulldog lift for a work related piece of equipment that also worked very well.

by:
2008 Toyota Tundra

The installation was simple, the hitch fit perfectly, and the protective finishes have held up perfectly - not one speck of rust after one year. I also have purchased another hitch kit for my 1997 Acura - same thing, simple easy installation and has performed perfectly.

2012 Toyota Tundra

I have yet to pull with this product so I can only comment on the install. I have a 2012 Tundra and the hitch did not sit flush with the frame rails. There is definitely a gap in between the frame rail and the unit (the side, not the top mounting portion), but its still a solid connection due to a total of ten bolts on the installation. The other problem I had was this hitch extends farther out than others I have seen (~4 inches past the bumper). This inhibited me from using the factory mount (where the 4 pin was) to hook the 7 pin plug (part ETBC7) and I had to fabricate my own mount. Good product but gen 2 Tundra owners might want to be aware of this.

Etrailer was on point with their customer service.
Tech notes made it easy to determine that I was getting the right hitch. Installation was easy. Shipping was fast and actually made it earlier than expected arrival. Thanks to etrailer and also Curt hitches for all the right info. Very satisfied and would recommend both etrailer and Curt to anyone who wants great service and quality.

2011 Toyota Tundra

Great product, easy to install. Since I had to do the job by myself, I attached the unit to a supporting 2x10 (plywood would also work) and used a pair of auto jacks to slowly lift the hitch into position. Once I made contact with the truck, the hitch remained snug and I could insert the bolts as directed. I had 'er done in about a hour.

by:
2014 Toyota Tundra

This was a very simple install; it took me a lot longer to get the original bolts loose and off the truck than it did to install the new hitch. Went on perfectly, no hassle with lining up the bolts and looks great, too. Highly recommended.

2016 Toyota Tundra

The product came when expected. All parts were there and it was very easy to install. The hardest part was removing the factory brackets on my 2016 Tundra.

by:

MY WIFE AND I INSTALLED THIS TOGETHER IN 35 MINUTES. IT FIT PERFECT AND LOOKS FACTORY. AFTER DRY FITTING AND LOOSLY TIGHTENING ALL OF THE BOLTS WE MADE SURE IT LOOKED GOOD FROM THE REAR AND WAS CENTERED. WHEN TIGHTENING ALL OF THE BOLTS , MAKE SURE YOU TIGHTEN THE 3 SIDE PLATE BOLTS FIRST. THIS WILL PULL THE PLATES TIGHT TO THE SIDE FRAME. THEN TIGNTEN THE TOP 2 TOP BOLTS.

2013 Toyota Tundra

Bolted right in just as described! Just had to trim the 4 large washers a little bit with a cutoff wheel because they are little too wide. Other than that, very straightforward install.

  • Towing Bumper Capacity of 2007 Toyota Tundra w/ 5.7L Engine
According to the owner's manual, if a trailer ball is installed in the OEM bumper of your 2008 Tundra, the capacity maxes out at 5000 lbs. This assumes that the bumper, the brackets attaching it to the frame members and the frame members themselves are in good condition. Generally speaking, a bumper mounted trailer ball is best used for shorter distances because the ball typically sits higher than the 17 inch average trailer coupler height. If the trailer is towed more than a couple of...

In addition to the Curt trailer hitch # 13198 for the 2009 Toyota Tundra (excluding TRD or Sport package), you will need a ball mount, ball, pin and clip, and a wiring harness if not already present on the truck. I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin and clip, and a carrying bag. • What Hitch Rack Would You Recommend for a 2015 Toyota Tundra?
The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # TH903202 would be a great choice for both 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch hitches. It has a tilting mechanism that can tilt with bikes on the rack, and the rack secures the bikes with independently detachable arms that can be repositioned anywhere along the frame . It also features ratcheting straps to secure your bike's wheels to the rack. Since it attaches to the bike frame as opposed to the tires, you....

  • Will the Bestop TrekStep Fit with a Trailer Hitch Installed on a 2012 Toyota Tundra
The Bestop TrekStep, # BE42CV, attaches to the bumper of your 2012 Toyota Tundra so it should not interfere with a trailer hitch like Curt # 13198 or a Draw-Tite hitch. The TrekStep will attach to the outside of the bumper bracket whereas the hitches install on the inside so there should not be any issue.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2014 Toyota Tundra Without Factory Receiver For Towing a Small Boat
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13198 will allow you to add a receiver to your 2014 Toyota Tundra which did not come with a factory hitch. I do see you should still have a factory 4-way tucked up behind your bumper so this will allow you to connect to most small trailers. If you cannot locate it then it may have been removed and you would need the Harness # HM11141835 to plug into the factory harness.
