Secure Locking Mechanism

This coupler lock has a disc tumbler locking mechanism. Unlike locks that use vulnerable spring-loaded pins, this ultra-secure lock is bump-proof. The cylinder has a series of rotating discs that can be correctly lined up only when you turn the corresponding key. Two identical notched keys are included to operate the lock. Because these keys feature 1 of nearly a million possible key codes, it's extremely unlikely that another individual will have a key that can open this lock.

Video Transcript for Review of AMPLock Trailer Coupler Locks - Surround Lock - AMP24FR

Hey everybody, welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby, and today we're taking a look at the AMPLock Trailer Coupler Lock for square two 516 inch ball couplers. So this trailer locks to go ahead and ensure it, allow you to give yourself a coupler lock to ensure that no one can hook up to your trailer and tow away with your things, of course. So pretty straightforward little guy here, as you guys can see, we just have our little ball mount here in the back. So all we simply have to do, insert this guy in our coupler, and then bring this guy back up on top of it to ensure nobody can hook up to it. So pretty easy little thing, of course, now to do so, all we got to do, simply take our keys here gonna go ahead and give you guys a closer look here today.

That actually is our insert here. So you can imagine, normally we have it facing you like here, the coupler is right behind me here. And that makes it just a little hard to go ahead and access the bottom of this guy, and simply insert our key. Start rotating, pull that guy out like so, that's gonna allow me to do, go ahead and take that guy out. You can see exactly how that guy sits in there.

So, you simply get that on your ball coupler, walk this guy up. Of course, you wanna make sure you have this guy positioned in the outside to go ahead and allow yourself to walk this guy on, and then you go ahead, turn your key. And actually, usually you can go ahead with these AMPLocks. Let me go ahead and see if we can do this here today. Simply just lock it up like that and it actually secures it, which is great.

So you don't actually need your keys with you to lock them, which is actually kind of a cool little feature with the AMPLock that I like. And of course you just have your key to come back and undo it when you actually are done. And then you just pull it back down and you go ahead and take it off really easy, so, I do like that, how easy that is to use. Pretty cool to walk that up. Now I've used AMPLock a couple of times here or there, and a couple other things.

They actually do seem like pretty decent quality, which is nice to see, especially if you are getting the lock to go ahead and actually secure your trailer. Now, with any lock though, it's honestly just keeping honest people, keeping them honest. So, keeping honest people honest is the name of the game, however, it is still gonna do a very good job. Now, this ductile cast iron is very resistant to any kind of cutting, tampering, even absorbs shock really, really well. So it is gonna be standing up to any of the things that your thieves might be throwing some tools at you. Think this guy's gonna do an excellent job. Now, nothing's pick-proof, of course, however this tumbler in here does an excellent job of being that. It would definitely take somebody to be very skilled to actually get these guys undone, those internal tumblers take a lot to actually maneuver, and with those millions of different codes available on here, you're gonna be secure knowing that your keys are gonna be specific to your lock, which is great. That way nobody with an AMPLock can just walk up and undo it, I do really like that, of how those guys work. Just gives you that peace of mind that our keys are gonna be specific to us and the tumblers make it extremely hard to pick, which is just innately what they do, which is great for ourselves. So one thing that's cool too, kind of notice that the lock itself is gonna be more towards the ground, right So that's gonna be hard for somebody to get underneath, get on their back and try to mess with, as it is gonna be towards the ground more. Definitely gonna be a hard place to access. So yeah guys, these just work really, really well, AMPLock out there. Known for their rugged tools and how well they actually do hold up. Gonna be corrosion resistant as well. It does have an e-coating on it, gonna go ahead and really make sure that this can be hanging on the end of our trailer for a long time. Now, of course, if somebody starts kind of really whaling on this thing, you might see a little damage and scuff start adding up to it. I mean, that's gonna be innate with somebody really taking a sledgehammer to these things. And you might see the coating start to wear off there. However, if we're treating it nice and hopefully everybody else is treating us nice, leaving our stuff alone, we should have this guy lasting us for the seasons to come. well, let's go ahead and break some down, some dimensions here for ourselves. Now, of course you have your 215, 2 and 15 sixteenths inch ball there for yourself to go ahead and get that in your coupler. And then just to go ahead and give ourselves the idea here, our inside dimensions are gonna be 'bout, right at three and a half inches for ourselves, for the internal width. Now for overall internal height, we're gonna go from the ground here to the very end, that is gonna be putting you right around. Looks to be about five and seven eights there to the very top for ourselves. Now that lead's right here to the very top is gonna put you, putting you right around four inches there for yourselves, guys. Now that is that internal dimensions to make sure you can actually fit this on your couplers. And of course for our overall height here today, is gonna be putting us right around, lemme go ahead and just bring it around the back here, guys, make sure you can get that good look, there. Is gonna be putting you right at six and one quarter inches, while your overall depth is gonna be putting you right around, I'm gonna go ahead and flip that the right way for you guys, it'll be a little easier to read, of course. Right around five inches for yourself there on that max width or I'm sorry, that depth I should say, for our device and for our overall width as well, guys. And go ahead from the back here, going straight across looks to be putting us right around four and three quarters of an inch to the very back. So, not gonna be taking up too much room on here, which is great. It is just going right on to the end of that ball coupler. So keep in mind, probably not gonna be exceeding already, what you guys are already working with. And I think this dimensions aren't gonna be something we're too worried about, I mean, in the end we're talking about trailers so, not gonna be the biggest of deal that we're actually adding beefiness to it. And I do like how big and strong this guy is, definitely looks like I wouldn't want to mess with it. If I saw on the end of the trailer coupler, definitely would not be worth my time. Now, if you've got a professional thief out there, well, like we said, keep honest people honest, right Not much you can do if somebody really wants your stuff, but this is gonna be a great first step. Gonna be really hard for people to actually access this. It's definitely gonna take a lot of time, gonna be excellent for work sites, leaving things over the weekend. And like I said, I really do like how it is resistant. I'm not worried about it hanging on the end of my trailer, rusting away and just, you know, becoming another eyesore for myself. And I said, it's gonna be holding up for ourselves. And the big thing, gonna make sure that all my things stay exactly where I want them, which is great. Well, guys, I think that that about does it for our look at the AMPLock trailer coupler lock with four square, two 516 inch ball couplers, here today at etrailer.com. I'm Bobby. Thank you for watching..

Impressive lock. Well machined.
I was
disappointed I couldn’t engage ball with the hitch ball clamp assembly after the flange lock was installed.

by:

Good tight fit, tough construction, and a disk core. It has sat out in the elements it's whole life and the lock still spins like new. I did drop the ball portion with the key still in it and it bent the key. That's my fault though. I Like the lock.

by:

Trailer still where I parked it. This lock is doing its job.

by:

Kate was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the trailer coupler lock that I needed. She was very efficient and helpful in placing the order and when the lock arrived it fits perfectly. It is on my trailer right now and is exactly what I needed thanks to Kate and her performance. Give her a big monetary raise and recognition before her peers.

This is the best trailer tung lock I have ever used. Heavy duty, well built, with a very unique key system that was well thought out. YES, I would highly recommend the AMP LOCK SYSTEM FOR YOUR TRAILER. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.

by:

Heavy duty and very well made. No one's going to get it off!

by:

I have a car hauler with 2 inch receiver rolled lip. This coupler lock has what I wanted. It should prevent the opportunitistic thief from taking trailer.its a solid lock . I leave a trailer off-site so it's just added insurance. It will take some grinding to get off. Key is heavy and solid so shouldn't break in lock. Happy with purchase.

by:

I am impressed with the quality of the lock. The day we put it on in Buffalo, our sons bikes were stolen out of his garage. We were parked right in front of it. We were happy to have had it on.

by:

AMPLock coupler lock is fantastic. Used daily. Very well made, strong and def trust regularly to keep my trailer safe.

by:

Nice trailer lock, its expensive but if some one steals the boat it would be very in expensive then. :)

by:

This is a nice lock, but there is plenty of room between the lip of the lock and the body of the trailer coupler for a prybar to be used. The coupler does have quite a bit of 'play' when installed - probably because it is a universal lock and as such it is designed to accommodate the dimensional differences between coupler manufacturers. Overall, the quality is very nice, and I have some ideas regarding how to 'tighten' up the fit between the lock and the coupler via shims. The manufacturer should consider including some shims - which could be used to provide a better fit between the lock body and the coupler.

by:

Easy to use. Heavy duty. Seems very sec ure.

by:

The lock is heavy duty and great. But it DID NOT work on my 2022 Jayco Micro. The lock mechanism needs to be about ?” shorter to clear the lower lip of the trailer hitch. e trailer wanted a 20% restocking fee plus for me to pay for shipping since I was outside my return window. The trailer was in for service so I could not test it out before the return policy ended. So I am either going to sell it or try to modify it myself.I would not buy it again for my 2022 Jayco.

by:

This AMP Lock Trailer Coupler Lock might be expensive but you get what you pay for here I believe. I have purchased 3 of these based on what I believe to be a quality product.

by:

I had a friend recommend this to me a year ago. Excellent lock for securing my car hauler! I recommend this to anyone that needs a trailer lock.

great lock

by:

This lock is a solid and hefty piece of equipment. Make sure to get the right model for your set-up. The width of the lip on my trailer was 3.75” and the lock fits like a glove.

by:

Nice lock for my Air Stream Bambi, just what I needed, between this lock and my new wheel chuck locks from Etrailer.com it should not get stolen again. thanks Etrailer for my new lock setup.!

by:

Solid made, would be very very time consuming to overcome this lock , The lock cylinder is on the bottom, is harder to get to for locking and unlocking, That's ok is harder for thief to overcome it, This lock is well made and very heavy, Im glad to have this.

by:

Has worked flawlessly for over a year stored outdoors in Chicago. Finish seems to be holding up and the action still works smooth. This is a very robust design that would be difficult to defeat.

by:

This is the best I've found for a 20K Demco coupler. Easy to install, proprietary keys, really really good quality. If you see how its designed and works it'll help understand the cost.If I had a claim w the piece attached to this coupler, at least the insurance co would see I made every effort to protect my asset.Buy Once cry once. If someone gets past this to get your equipment, there was not much you could do to protect it. etrailer has done well carrying quality equipment.zero complaints.

by:

Heavy duty item! It is a little looser when installed than I thought it would be but I understand it fits many different hitch types. Even though it does fit a little loose in my opinion, in no way would anyone be able to get it off!
