This kit allows your RV's monitoring system to alert you whenever the brake pedal of your towed car is being applied. Other systems operate according to whether the air cylinder is extended and provide no indication of what is happening with the pedal itself. If your supplemental braking system is improperly installed, it may be continuously pressing on the pedal, impeding it from fully retracting and possibly causing damage to your vehicle's tires and braking system. This switch is required for the 2017 mini cooper S 4 door hardtop and it requires an additional 1/16" washer to be added to space the arm forward of the mounting point on the vehicle support. The swith provided has only 1/8" of overtravel and it would not engage to detect the brake pedal in the resting non-applied state without adding the washer. This also required removing the rear nut from the swith to push the switch forward toward the pedal arm. Roadmaster may want to include a few bushings to serve as spacers to rectify this issue.
