The Bedlocker retractable tonneau cover protects your cargo and truck bed from the elements. This electric cover opens and closes easily with a key fob remote, and it can stop and lock anywhere along the bed to provide custom protection for your cargo. Heavy-duty aluminum panels with weather-resistant silicon hinges keep water and debris out of your truck bed, and they help to protect your cargo from theft. The low-profile cover also installs easily without drilling.

Retractable with Remote

Bedlocker truck bed cover

This electric, retractable tonneau cover is powered by a motor that wires directly to your vehicle's battery. The included key fob remote activates the motor and allows you to open or close the cover in under 30 seconds. An electro-magnetic brake stops and locks the cover at any point along the rails for customized cargo protection. Press the Open button on the remote to retract the cover into the canister. Simply release the button to trigger the electro-magnetic brake and lock the cover in at the desired position. Press the Closed button to deploy the cover. There is an optional manual switch available (sold separately) that allows you to operate the cover from the cab of your truck or at the tailgate.

A manual release is located on the canister in case of remote control or power failure. Simply pull out the manual release lever, and engage the kickstand behind it. This allows you to deploy and retract the cover by hand until power is restored to your vehicle.

Angled Canister

Bedlocker Angled Canister

The cover retracts into a compact, angled canister located at the front of your truck bed. This canister protects the retracted cover from the elements, and with the cover stored in the canister you'll have unrestricted visibility out of your rear window. The angled design of the canister also allows for maximum clearance for your tools and cargo so there is no need to remove the cover to haul cargo.

Water Management System

The Bedlocker rails feature a water management system that channels excess water into the canister. This prevents water from getting into your bed or freezing in your tonneau cover rails during cold temperatures. Drain tubes attached to the bottom of the canister remove water through the OE drain holes in the floor of your truck bed.

Flush-Mount Design

The Bedlocker side rails mount level with your truck bed rails for a flush appearance. This flush-mount design is aerodynamic to reduce wind drag, and it helps to improve gas mileage when cover is closed. Even with the flush-mount design, the cover fits over most fifth-wheel trailer hitches. Note: The highest point of the fifth-wheel hitch must be at least 2" below the bed rails.

Heavy-Duty Construction

Bedlocker aluminum panels

The cover is constructed of interlocking aluminum panels with a black powder coat finish. A silicon weather hinge creates a tight seal between each panel to prevent water and dirt from entering the truck bed. A barrier seal at the tailgate prevents water from entering truck bed through the rear. The rails are constructed of extruded aluminum with a black powder coat finish.

Security

The Bedlocker provides excellent protection for your cargo when used in conjunction with a closed and locked tailgate. The durable aluminum panels are better at preventing theft when compared with soft covers that can be cut or punctured with a knife. The panels are also more effective at preventing theft than tri-fold hard tonneau cover because the panels cannot be pried open at any point along the rails.

No-Drill Installation

To install the cover, place the canister on a support at the bulkhead of the truck. Run the wiring harness from the canister to your vehicle's battery. Do not connect the harness to your battery until the rest of the installation is complete.

Bedlocker aluminum panels

Attach the rails to the canister, then secure the rails to your truck bed side rails using 2 clamps per side. Slide the clamp onto the rail, flip the pivot arm up so it is under the bed rail lip, and tighten the clamp in place. Shims are included for trucks with tapered beds.

Bedlocker SpeedClamp

Each clamp at the tailgate end of the rails has a supplemental kickstand to help level the rails and prevent overtightening during installation. To install the kickstand, simply slide it into the grip handle at the bottom of the clamp. Rotate the kickstand so the foot rests squarely against the side wall of the truck bed, and tighten in place. Once the kickstands are installed, attach the drain tubes to the canister and route each tube out of the OEM drain holes in the floor of your bed. Complete the installation by mounting the top cover plate over the canister and connecting the wiring harness to the battery.

Video Transcript for Pace Edwards Powered BedLocker Hard Tonneau Cover Installation - 2017 Ford F-250

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2017 Ford F250, we're going to be installing the Pace Edwards Powered BedLocker Hard Tonneau Cover. Part number 311-BLFA18A44. The bedlocker is a powered hard tonneau cover that opens and closes in less than 30 seconds. The tonneau cover retracts into the canister giving us full bed access. The electric motor connects to your 12-volt battery using the included wiring harness. It features electromagnetic brakes that allows you to stop at any point, holding it secure.

This is great for covering partial loads, or if you have a fifth wheel installed, covering the rear portion of your bed.It features rigid aluminum panels and has a black powder coat finish to prevent corrosion. The panel feature a patented silicone weather hinge to protect your cargo from the elements. When fully closed, we'll have a flushed profile adding an attractive look to your truck. When use of the locking tailgates, this will give you complete bed security. We have a seal along the tailgate to help keep out water.

The canister drain tube, that water builds up and leaves. It can be manually operated using the release handle in case of loss of power. With our tonneau cover open, it takes about 14.5 inches of bed length. The canister sits at about 12.5 inches deep. The rail sit in at about 2.5 inches and they're about a quarter of an inch above your bed rails. Two key fobs are included that can open and close your tonneau cover wirelessly and sold separately as a manual switch that can be wired inside your truck or in your tailgate.

The manual switch is sold separately with part number 311-BL-1120. To start our installation, we're going to be installing the wiring. We're going to run it through the stake pocket underneath the truck up to the battery. Here on the driver side, we're going to take the stake pocket cover off, using our screwdriver. Then before we feed the wire through, you're going to want to get a little bit of excess, about a foot, a foot and a half. Just secure it so that way you don't pull it all the way through.

We'll be then feeding it down. After you've fed it down, it'll come out here near the fuel pipe filler neck, and just continue to pull it through. If necessary, you can have somebody help you feed it from the other side, or get back up here and feed it down if you need more slack. We now run the wire all the way up the frame rail through the engine compartment to the battery. There's included zip ties to secure it in place.Make sure to stay away from any moving parts such as the brake cable. And when going up to the engine compartment, watch out for the steering shaft. Here in the engine compartment, if you can see where we went around the string shaft there, and we stayed up away from anything hot, keeping it along the tabs up here, using the zip ties running it back and around. We haven't set up to the battery yet. We'll do that in the end and test out our powered tonneau cover. Now that our has been run and secured, we have to take it down back to the stake hole and push it through the small hole into the bed so we can access it later and connect our power. Now we can replace our stake pocket cover. So, now, we've got the wiring run, we're going to install the rails on our canister. We found the best way to do this is outside the truck and then get some assistance to help you lift it in. Next, we'll take off our protective paper. Then to put the rail into place, you'll take the lip here on the inside of the rail, which would be the outside when it's flipped this way. You'll line it up here. You'll roll it over and slide it forward. Then we'll repeat the same process on the other side. With both our rails installed, we'll grab an extra pair of hands and we'll lift it into the truck. Now we can close our tailgate and we'll check the gap between the tonneau cover and tailgate. It needs to be about a 16th of an inch. We have a little bit too much gap on the side, so we're going to adjust it back here. All right. Now we've got about our 16th of an inch. Now, we've got our canister installed, and our rails lined up appropriate with our tailgate, we're going to take the clamp and put it in the front on the driver side first. We'll take our clamp here. You'll notice the groove. Take the groove and place it on the rail and the opening slot in the back first. Then pull it forward, and then slide it up to the bracket. We'll then take our pivot arm and slide it onto the bracket. There's eight hex bolts included, four long and four short. Use the appropriate for your application. Here, we'll be using the short. Put on your lock washer and then your washer and your surround nut, placing it on the groove in the pivot arm. Slide your bolt through and tighten it down. We'll be using a 7/16th socket to tighten it down. We'll finish securing it after we get the rest of the clamps installed. With all of them in place, we can now go back in and tighten them down. Now that we've got the rail secure, we can put our front cover on. Lining up the holes with the cover and lining it to the back evenly.Take the two included Phillip's head screws and start those on each side. Make sure it's flush with the rail and tighten it down. Next, we'll be installing our drain tubes. We'll need to remove the covers on each side to route the hoses and feed the water outside the bed. Now take your hose, feed it down, and then clip it into place on the bottom of the canister. Now, repeat this process on the other side. Now that we've got everything installed, before we plug up our wiring and test out the power portion, let's make sure it moves manually. We'll need to pull the release lever and take the small bracket to hold it out for manual operation. Speaker 1: All right. Manual's working fine. Let's go ahead and hook up our power. We're now going to plug in our power. We've got two cables on our canister. One is for the power that we ran to the battery. The other is for an optional kit that allows you to use an interior switch to operate your tonneau cover. We'll plug in our power. Now, we've got our power plugged in, we can tidy up our cables with a zip tie. We can tuck it back into place. Now, let's go hook up our battery. First, we'll hook up our positive cable. Now, we'll install our ground. Instead of installing it on the battery, we're going to install it onto a body ground. There's one located right here.Remove the bolt, slide it through the loop, and then resecure it. Now if the bolt is secure, we can zip-tie our access wire into place. Now, let's close top of our hood and try it out. If your lever is still pulled, the motor will be disengaged. Go ahead and place the lever back into place here. Use one of the two included remotes and press the closed button. The power operation will now close the tonneau cover. That'll complete the installation of the Pace Edwards Powered BedLocker Hard Tonneau Cover on our 2017 Ford F250.

Excellent, as always!

I was looking
for the very best for my 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500HD High Country and when you want the best, you get Pace Edwards. I've owned other brands before on other trucks such as Roll-n-Lock and ReTrax and both are great products, but for this truck, I wanted nothing but the best. With the track record and quality that comes with Pace Edwards, this is why they are the top of the line. I installed this cover completely by myself, a helper would have been nice to have, I was able to get it done with no issues.

The cover fits perfectly and looks like it was supposed to be there. etrailer's customer support is always top notch and the representative I spoke with on the phone made it so easy to order, she was very friendly and helpful. Everything came well packaged and undamaged. The 2 included remotes are nice, but I also ordered to sets of the accessory wired switch kit. I wired them together, sending 1 switch up front, inside the cab. The other to the back corner of the bed wired up to a weatherproof switch. I spent more time on the wiring than I did installing the cover.

The only thing that kinda bugs me (and this is 100% personal preference NOT an issue with the product) is the tailgate seal at the edge of the cover, the shape and design of the seal is such that it's a double wall flap with a hollow center. Now they may have intended it to sit on top of the edge of the tailgate, but I prefer how it looks butted up against the tailgate like a door seal, which makes a U shape. However I have to keep pushing it down to keep it flat across the back. I may end up sliding a small round piece of weatherproof foam inside, all the way across to create more of an bicycle tire affect, the foam keeps the seal "inflated" while pressure holds it tight when closed up. But that's just me.

Overall, VERY pleased with the products and service. The cover and wiring harness are both high quality, comparable to GM factory. I highly recommend this, well worth the money.

I love this tonneau. I would reccomed going with this model, but getting the tracks that support their racks. It was Covid time and stock was short. I was lucky to get this one. I would go with 4.5. I think they should have put a more powerful motor. Sometimes it doesn't have the power to open all the way. On another note etrailer was awesome. The rails were bent when the shipment came, they took rails out of there last one in stock and sent them so I could get it installed before my cross country trip.

My last truck had the Pace Edwards Bedlocker, so when I got a newer truck I had to get another Bedlocker. Great security. Electric opening without a key. To someone wanting to break into the bed there’s no apparent way to open it.

by:

Great tonneau cover. One year later and still functions like new.

by:

The remote doesn’t always work. Sometimes you have to jar or push in the cover to get it to engage.

by:

Real good all in all. Does rub in the holding box whenever it’s all the way rolled in. Minor, but rubs.

by:

great product. exactly what i expected and easier than imagined to install.

by:

Great product, easy install no more removing tools every night!

by:

After getting all of the parts I can put it in now

  • Pace Edwards Tonneau Cover Recommendation for 2019 Ford F-350 Short Bed Towing 5th Wheel
A fifth wheel hitch could fit under a Pace Edwards Switchblade tonneau like the part # 311-SWFA18A44 that you referenced but like you said it would have to be adjusted low enough to allow that. Your other concern about the front of the tonneau be raised would be an issue if your trailer overhang was pretty close to the bed rails of the truck. You have to have at least 6 inches between the bedrails and the trailer overhang to not have interference. So if that dimension is tight on your...

Thank you for all of the information, it really helped to narrow down what you are needing. Typically I would say that you would need a 5th wheel hitch with a height of 13 inches so that your trailer can ride level (52.5 - 39.5 = 13), but since that will leave only 2 inches of space between your trailer overhang and the bedrails of your 2018 Ford F-350 Super Duty we will need to look at something else. We recommend having at least 5 - 6 inches of space between your trailer and the bedrails...
