Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if chains might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

The Konig XD-16 Pro tire chains are great all-purpose, winter weather chains. If you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these Konig chains are perfect because they're durable and easy to mount. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with V-bar links that can really bite into the ice to give you maximum traction.

These chains are among the easiest and fastest to install because they have built-in tensioners that you can just pull taut to adjust the fit. These tensioners allow the chains to fit your tires, no matter the profile or wear pattern. And because the tensioners are built-in, you never have to worry about losing them like you might with other chains on the market.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Tire Chains

Installing these chains is incredibly simple.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks in them.

Connect the ends of the blue cable

2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the blue cable, which will sit behind the tire.

Connect the hook and link in front of the tire

3. Around front, connect the red hook to the red link.

Feed tensioning chain through clip

4. At the bottom of the tire, feed the tensioning chain through the large clip and tug it until it's tight.

Stretch the hook across the tire

5. Feed the tensioning chain through as many red clips along the side chain as you can, leaving room to still be able to stretch the hook across the tire. Attach the hook to the side chain directly across from the last clip you ran the tensioner through. The hook should face away from your tire.

6. Drive forward around 325' (about the length of a football field) and stop. Check the chains and tighten them as needed.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

The on line and telephone experience was perfect. The product is great. Easier to install than I thought and a giant leap above tire chains for which you have to crawl under the truck to install them. Workmanship on the chains looks very solid, time will tell. The only reason for my 4 star rating rather than 5 star to total uselessness of the included directions. Watching the video was much more informative and understandable than the included directions. These were intended to be understandable for multiple language speakers, and that's a good intent. However the pictures and symbols are barely sufficient let alone complete and clear instructions. I would recommend these chains to anyone shopping but I would also recommend watching the video on the etrailer website and forget the included directions.

These chains are solid and well built. Did a test fit and were easy to install and fit well on 265/60 R20 tires. I chose Konig brand chains based on other web site forum reviews, but trailer.com not only carried them in the size I needed but had a ton of information and help videos the helped me be confident in my choice. etrailer.com not only delivered them fast, the communication before and after was great.

by:

I've had these before for a previous company vehicle and they are awesome! Pulling a 4 ton trailer down a snowy road, they held on tight. Smooth ride.
Excellent place to order from. Fast shipping and great customer service. Thank you!

by:

I needed these chains urgently for a family ski trip and William got me my chains in time with 2 day shipping! They were extremely helpful in the order process and I couldn’t be more pleased.

by:

Very good chains. Not too hard to put on. Worked very well.

by:

fast and very easy install / removal - bought a set for my son to use also...

by:

Arrived fast. Fit right. Made snow it’s b***h.

by:

I had not received my order as of this email. I called my neighbors and located that it was delivered to 2160 Springer Rd . I am told by 2160 the box is in terrible condition, I will confirm and send pictures when I get home on the 20th

by:

Easiest to install chains I’ve ever had!

by:

Fantastic experience! I could not find the correct size for my car. Tirechain.com, AutoZone, and others did not carry the correct size for my 2022 vehicle. Thankfully etrailer.com had what we were looking for and they were able to get the chains to me in a couple of days at a minimal cost. Thanks guys

by:

I do not know. Its too early to tell.

by:

I used these on my wife's 22 Mercedes GLS450, on a recent trip to Mammoth. The tire size 325/35/23 for her car was very difficult to find so I was very impressed with the fit and function of these. We drove for about 50 miles with them over the weekend and were very easy to install and remove.

by:

Great Service, quick shipping, and the Konig Tire Chains were exactly what I needed!

by:

I just practiced installing these chains. It went very smoothly while following the easy to use instructions. Pretty quick, less than 5 minutes per tire.

by:

Amazing product! Excellent look and execution of design. Better than expected fit on tire size too. Recommend measuring inboard clearance between sidewall and upper control arm (any suspension components) to ensure full inch of room. Mine (cityboy Ram 1500 4X4 Sport) was insufficient (half inch) to clear chain on front tires. Still LOVE these chains and no regrets on purchase. Order early as mine took months to arrive (they told me that upfront though so not a dig on company at all). Highly recommend!

by:

Great product but fantastic service! Friendly and super fast overnight!
Best ever! Thank you so much!

by:

This is my second snow chain of Konig. Great quality. There're similar products out there for cheaper price. But this build quality and thoughtful detailed design worth its price.

by:

Perfect fit. Great service from etraile r.

by:

I have not used these yet. But I have purchased before and they are a well made product. Easy installation once you do it once, read the directions.

by:

These chains are awesome. Easy to put on even if you're already stuck. Great service and fast shipping. Thanks!

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 2011 Ford F-150 Raptor Tire Size 315/70R17
For your 2011 Ford F-150 Raptor with tire size 315/70R17 I would recommend the Konig tire chains # KON74FR because they are easier to install, provide great traction in snow and ice, and they are made from a harder metal so they will last a long time as well.

  • Tire Chain Recommendations for 285/65-20 Tires on a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500
For tire size 285/65-20 there are no V-Bar/cam tire chain options. I recommend square link chains such as # KON74FR which offer the best traction in snow and ice. Be sure to consult the vehicle owner's manual for additional information on the use of chains. I have included a link to our help article on tire chains for you.

  • Are There Konig Snow Tire Chains XD16 Pro for 35/12.50-20 Tires
I do have an option for you but the Konig Snow Tire Chains XD16 Pro are not offered for 35/12.50-20 tires. Instead, I recommend the Pewag Starwave Tire Chain part # PW94FR which is the only option without the traditional ladder style pattern. They have a unique link shape which offers better traction as the sharp edges have more bite in snow and ice. I have attached our full list of tire chain options for this size below.

  • What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 285/65-20 Tires on My 2019 Ford F-350?
I have a great tire chain solution for your 285/65-20 tires on your 2018 Ford F-350. Unfortunately, the Titan Chain # TC2536 will not fit your wider tires. With that being said, we do carry similar chains that do fit. For that route, I recommend the Konig Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XD16 Pro # KON74FR. Not only do these come with integrated tensioners like the # TC2536, the Konig chains are Class-S rated which means they are specially designed for vehicles with limited...

I attached a link to a page that has all of the tire chains we offer for the tire size 315/75-16 that you have on your 2002 Ford F-350 but the ones I really like are the Konig chains part # KON74FR which are easy to install, provide great traction, and will last a long time. They do cost more so if you wanted somethin that is more budget friendly I would go with the Titan chains part # TC2337. These will provide about as good of traction but they won't last quite as long or install quite...

  • Recommended Tire Chains For a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon With 35" X 12" Tires
I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains # TC3231 for your 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. These ladder pattern twist link chains will provide great traction in deep snow and mud. You will need the Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster # TCMA2 to keep the chains tight on the tires. We do have the Konig Snow Tire Chains # KON74FR which is a division of Thule. While these are very good chains and easy to install they are not rated for off road use.

For your 2020 Ram 2500 4x4 with 295/65-20 tires, I recommend the Konig # KON74FR. The diamond pattern chain gives superior traction in icy/snowy conditions. This chain is a drape over chain and is much easier to install than your traditional "ladder style" tire chains. Most folks say that with a little practice, they can install each chain in about 30 seconds. I have linked our review video below if you want to take a look.

Titan Chain confirms that their # TC2539 Diamond HD Alloy Square Link tire chains are indeed a fit for the 325/60-20 tire size, but they aren't Class S rated which is what your owner's manual specifies. Class S chains will provide greater clearance to the wheel well and the braking/suspension components located inboard of the wheels. This means that the chains are for low clearance situations so that the chains are less likely to tear stuff up behind your tires.
