Installation is easy until I cut off the washer on the cable bolt only to realize that I don’t need to cut it. Got a replacement washer from O’Reillys. Read and understand the instructions, do not rush it.
Great product very easy to install.

I installed one on my Sierra 2011 and I think it could be a little more damping, the gate drops a little hard to my liking, but after I installed a Easy lift (pn 74211 installed without difficulty) , it is perfect.

Every part came with the kit and was ready to install. The installation process was smooth and took about 30 minutes when all is said and done. Make sure you have the proper tools to install the nut and bolt at the bottom of the tailgate!
This product was great
Works great. Took a little more effort to install tailgate attachment. It takes lots of turns. Otherwise installed pretty easy.
Item worked great and as expected. 2010 Ford F-150 XLT. Instructions included are a bit vague, but there are great videos to reference. Easy install. Communication from etrailer has been best in class.
Works really well. The installation is straightforward. If you didn’t know is aftermarket you’d think the truck came with it.
I had trouble installing the Tailgate Assist on my 2012 F150. I measured 3/4 inch from the washer to the bolt head on the blind nut tool. After 9 360 degree turns the blind nut was still loose. I made 2 more turns and it was still so loose I could remove it from the opening. I called Customer Service and was told others have had the same problem. The Service Rep said to apply some of the thread lock to the blind nut tool threads and wait for at least 90 minutes. I did, waited 2 hours and tried it again. After 9 full turns the blind nut was still loose. I made 3 more turns and the blind nut tool completely came out with the blind nut partially expanded enough that I couldn't remove it.
After some thought, I clamped the outer edge of the blind nut with a Vise Grip, slid a bushing over the nutsert bolt and slowly turned it with the M5 Allen wrench until it was tight and I had enough threads on the ball mount to install it. I finished the install and it seems to be operating correctly for now.

It still works great!
I love this product, as well as the wife. It is nice to have a system finally that allows the tailgate to drop easily without the slam or knocking you off balance if on an uneven surface. It installed simply, took about 15 minutes (mostly my referring back to the instructions), and still works as good today as when installed over a year ago. I was surprised that it was just one shock absorber and not two, but surprisingly the one does the job perfectly.

Its been over a year and this tailgate assist from DeeZee still works just as good as the day I installed. I recommend it to anyone that asks about it.
Installed on a Ford F150 Lariat. Easy to install but Had a problem with the 9 full turns to set the nut. Played with it for a little white (trial and error) to avoid over tightening. Unit installed and it works great. Wife likes dropping tail gate now. Very easy down - very well shocked absorbed. There is little if any spring to lessen the weight to lift (close) the tail gate. Tail gate down - great; tail gate up - no change.

After a year all things great. I am surprised that it is not on the trucks from the factory.
Ordered this item regular shipping on a Wednesday and received on Monday. Great service I have not installed the tailgate assist yet due to weather but it will be no problem with the install and I feel it will work great. If not I will let you know.

Great, no more falling tail gate now its nice and smooth. Great product and installed in no time.
I had a little trouble getting the nut to attach to the tailgate. But after several tries and a lot of pressure pushing it against the tailgate it finally worked. Once this was done no other problems with installing the rest. The system works great just as advertised. I have already recommended it to several people.

Still working great. Best thing I ever bought
I am installing this product now. I think it is a great idea. There is one major design flaw with the BLIND NUT. It has a smooth back side surface and is suppose to attach to the smooth surface of the tailgate. This does not work and I am having a difficult time getting the nutsert to expand. If there were some points on the back of it to grab onto the tailgate, I believe this would help. I am trying all of the suggestions I have found on line.Fix this problem and I will rate this as a five.

Thank you for your review on DZ43200.The Deezee instructions say to tighten with 9 turns. Generally that is the amount of turns it takes to get it tight. If the blind nut is still loose, you can continue tightening until it is tight. Just avoid overtightening the because it can strip the threads. I hope this helps.
Product arrived a day early. Was just as described. Easy install, 15 - 20 min.

This is year 2 of having the ezdown gas shock & its surprising still working Perfect my tailgate is up-and-down at least 12 times A-day So it is really getting put to the test.
This product continues work great. Easy down and easy up on my tailgate.

Going strong, working great
easy install, works just like it says - nice gentle opening of the tailgate with no slamming down!
Installed the day I received it. Some of the installation I found to be cumbersome, but simple enough. The product works great as of now...time will tell if it can hold up. I'm happy with the purchase. I bought this product because my previous truck had a similar feature and it was a MUST to get the slow closing door again.

Finally received product. Was fairly easy to install. Had a little trouble getting the "nutsert" to work but finally got it. Product works as advertised. I am happy.

Still working great after a year!
Received product ahead of scheduled time. 30 minute installation was realtively easy with the provided tool and instructions. The hardest part was removing the bolt on the truck but by using the provided tool and an extension bar for some incresed leverage it was accomplished. Good fit and works well just turn the gate release and watch the tailgate slowly move to the down and open position. This provides for a safe and easy operation which should be standard equipment in all pickups.
Etrailer can’t seem to disappoint, no matter how many opportunities I give them.
I placed an order on Monday 2/9/15 and received a notification within a few hours stating the order had already shipped yea right! It arrived on the third day, Wednesday 2/11/15. FYI, crow is best served with hot sauce!
I ordered two clearance lights for a boat trailer and a tailgate assist for my F-150 so my wife can’t drop the tailgate anymore. Both showed up as promised and I installed the shock that afternoon, works like a charm very smooth. I haven't installed the boat lights yet, but seem to be as described and get installed this weekend.
Etrailer has never disappointed this shopper, and I see no reason that they would start any time soon.

I do believe this device saves my 6 year old daughter from serious head injury. I was used to just letting the gate flop open before this was installed, but I would only do it when it was safe to do so. One day the family was headed out and I needed to get into the back as soon as I did my normal action of just letting the gate flop down my daughter who I thought was in the vehicle came around to the back but the gate was only slowly descending due to the tail gate assist. Had this not been installed my tiny daughter would have been hurt. I recommend these to everyone I know that has a truck
