Clearance Between Skis and Roof with Thule Snowpack Ski Carrier

Question:

Hi! Im considering purchasing a ski rack for my car, but I have low-profile cross bars on my vehicle and Im worried about the clearance from the roof to the skis. Do you know what the distance is from where the skis rest in the rack to the top of the cross-bar for the Thule Snowpack series? Thank you!

There are different carriers within the Thule Snowpack series (# TH732508, # TH7326, # TH7325, # TH7324 etc.) so I'll assume you mean the Thule SnowPack Ski and Snowboard Carrier # TH7326B. This is the carrier that can hold up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards.

When we measured it with snowboards mounted, we found it was 3-3/8" from the snowboard to the top of the crossbars. This measurement is with the clamp style. If you use the T-track mounting system, it comes with spacer that add up to 1.1" inch to the system. So a total of about 4-1/2" of clearance. Your exact clearance may depend on the thickness of your skis or your bindings.

I attached a video reviewing this carrier if you want to see exactly where we measured as well as how the T-track mounting system looks compared to the clamp system.
