Today on our 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe we'll be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System. This is going to consist of the Rhino Rack Vortex Arrow Cross Bars, part number RRVA137B-2, the Rhino Rack 2500 Series Legs, part number RRRLKVA, and the Custom Fit Kit for our Santa Fe, part number DK360. Now, keep in mind our cross bars are also available in silver, part number RRVA137S-2. The Rhino Rack Roof Rack System is going to be a great solution for carrying your vehicle accessories on your roof, whether those are bike racks, cargo baskets, ski and snowboard carriers, or kayak carriers. The aerodynamic shape of our bar as well as the weather strip on the inside is going to help to reduce wind noise and drag. We can also remove that weather strip, cut it down, and place in channel mounted accessories. The end cap has a plastic lock core which can be replaced with an all metal lock core to help prevent theft and tampering of your channel mounted accessories. The locking cover on our foot pack is going to prevent any theft or tampering of our roof rack system as a whole.
Under there you'll see our fit kit. This is going to be custom cut to our vehicle, and any portion that touches our vehicle is going to have a rubber coating to prevent any scratches or abrasions. This being a custom cut fit kit, it's going to give us a nice, secure fit on our Santa Fe. The Rhino Rack Roof Rack System has a 165 pound weight capacity and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. It's going to be quick and easy to install. We'll show you how to do that now.
We're going to have two cross bars. We'll get four foot packs. We already have one of our back ones installed. We're going to get four pads and four clamps for our fit kit, four end caps for our cross bar as well as the key to tie that down. We're going to have keys for our end caps for our foot pack, and that's going to secure that down.
Then we have our included tool to tighten everything down and make sure we have a nice, secure fit. To begin, we're going to take our foot pack and remove our bolts here in the center. We'll place our clamp over the top and we'll start to tighten that down. We're going to tighten that bolt down just enough so that our clamp is held into place. Then we can flip our foot pack over, take the plastic piece off. Make sure that the arrow on the rubber and on the plastic are facing the same way.
We want them pointing towards our clamp when we place them back onto our foot pack. Now we're ready to slide it onto our cross bar, sliding it into the channel. We'll measure out this inside strip here to 13.7 centimeters. Then we can tighten down the bolt here in the center using our included tensioner. Now, with our kit you will get inserts that actually have the measurements on there. You can cut these down and place them into the channel. This is going to help to prevent any wind noise or drag, or any dirt and debris buildup underneath our cross bar. You can also use the excess and place it on the outside. Now, before we load this up we'll take our end caps for our cross bar and lock them into place. We're ready to load this up onto our vehicle. We'll now take our cross bar and gently set it across the roof of our vehicle, making sure that it sits around our door jam. The cross bar spread's going to be from the center of the front clamp to the center of the back, and that's going to be 70 centimeters. Once we have everything measured out we can come to our clamp, and we're ready to tighten it down. I like to hold my clamp just up against the door jam and tighten down my bolt until it holds that in place. Then we'll go back and forth tightening it down evenly until it's completely secure. Now, we'll know when our roof rack is completely tight when the skinnier portion of our torque tool is straight, just like so. Now we can close up our doors. Lastly, we'll take our end cap, place it onto our foot pack, lock that into place. Now we're ready to load up our accessories and hit the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System on our 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe.

These heavy-duty, aluminum crossbars work with Rhino-Rack legs to create a sturdy roof rack. The square bars include built-in C-channels for mounting Rhino-Rack heavy-duty, contractor-grade accessories.I’ve had this rhino rack for over 3 years and it’s been excellent on long road trips to the ski slopes. A year after my purchase, I realized that I was missing the plastic coverings that attached to the end of the bars and called their customer service to resolve the missing pieces. I was impressed with their quick response and seamless delivery.
The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.
This has been a disaster, and terrible experience from the start. Original product Rhino roof rack ($188.00) misrepresented for sale, even called and was told all parts were included as "Open Box" item. Received item with missing parts and mismatched parts, then ET sent wrong parts (Legs) causing having to order these cross bars ($192.00) to fit parts sent (Legs). Now my $300.00 BougeRV ski rack - mounting base plates won't fit the crossbars. Still waiting for return label for original item so I can get my refund of $188.00. Three weeks later, still dealing with problem. I do appreciate Shawnee and EDW for their efforts in follow up service attempts.
Ordered a Rhino Rack for my 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Rack arrived in very good shape and all items were there. Installing at this time and see no problems ahead.
Great product, fit was spot on with correct vehicle specific parts. Etrailer
was fantastic to work with. Great communication and feedback, worked through a small problem with positive outcome. Will definitely purchase from them again, their customer service department is top notch.
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.
High-quality, sturdy rails, but noisy. There was a pronounced and audible whistle driving with these racks at any common road or highway speed (with the rubber inserts installed across the top). I have since replaced these rails with the Rhino vortex aero style (change of vehicles and the HD bars did not fit the new car). Having used both types several times, I would recommend the aero style over the HD if you have the option.
Tricky to rivet tracks onto car with a manual riveter but once done, a great solution for the car with ease of bar removal. My only regret was going with the square bars which result in notable increase in wind noise.
Product installation instructions were fair, and that is the worst thing I have to say. I havent put anything on the rack yet as I just installed it, but I gave a good tug on the bars and they are SOLID. The product came in a reasonable amount of time, and the feedback for etrailer is that I got followup emails at each step of the process keeping me fully informed right up to the message asking for feedback.
Bottomline: etrailer is a great business to work with, and this product seems to be good too.
Overall, happy with the product. I found that every few days after long drives the roof clamps loosen slightly and need to be re-tightened, depending on your load. When first installing the roof clamps, one of the clamps had a small metal bur on the edge (manufacturing defect) which left a nice sized scratch in the roof. Other than that, the rack has been a good product for the price.
Thanks to Etrailer, I am ready to do some serious summer exploring with my 2013 Mazda 3! Rhino Racks, Malone top box, and Kuat bike rack!
I am normally a exclusive Amazon shopper, but etrailer gives equal or better service and has specialty items you just can't find anywhere else. The pricing is great also. This is my 4th order from them on this project and the response has been perfect and the shipping has been prompt. They even offered to take back an item that I did not need. I desperately wanted to mount my 19ft Kayak on my new RV and with some Rhino RT tracks, a Rhino Nautic kayak lifter, a few really heavy duty rivets, and some ingenuity, I was able to accomplish the task. I am replacing the current Nautic bars with the heavy duty bars. See the attached pictures.
Good quality and locks are included. The plastic lock covers are flimsy but they will keep an honest person honest.
Thank you for the very speedy customer service! My roof rack is already here!
I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
Great product everything fit perfectly. With the heavy duty bars almost all the hardware for anything you put on the rack is too short
We installed our Vortex Aero rack on a 2013 Santa Fe Sport. The instructions were easy to understand, and it took me and my husband about an hour to install. The rack looks great on our car. The etrailer customer service has been a great help. There is never any wait when calling them, and they are always helpful. We are very happy with the roof rack and with the etrailer team.
Terrible product! I had to tighten the piss out of the clamps just to get the doors to shut. But the window frames were pushed out. So I had to adjust all the striker pins in the door jams down. But the weather strip does not form fit around the clamps and now there's terrible wind noise. If you have a naked roof, get the factory rails. Taking these back off.
I was in a roof rack jam. There was a national shortage of the rack I needed for my car and our summer vacation was a week away. I went to etrailer.com when I couldnt find the roof rack anywhere else on the web. Another website actually suggested that they might have what I needed.
I spoke to Ashley E on the phone to make sure that I was picking the right parts. Ashley was very helpful and knowledgable. She helped me find the right roof rack and made sure that I received it in record time. I am a customer for life!!!
This kit is easy to slap on and sturdy enough to balance my skis and snowboards. I recently used the Rhino Rack on a three hour drive to a ski resort and had no issues.
This rack worked out great... I installed in on a 2017 Ford F-150. We drove 6 hrs through wind and rain with a SUP and Tandem Kayak on top. It really took a beating in a storm the whole way. One bracket was a little loose and shifted because of the wind on the Kayak, but it held together. Super happy with Rhino rack!
The roof rack works great and is easy to put on and take off the Santa Fe. We attach our luggage carrier on it for trips and when we take our daughter to college and bring her stuff home. It increases our space so we can carry more.
I have to say that I was hesitant ordering from a company that of which we had never heard, but we did anyway. Fabulous decision! Shipping was fast. Company to consumer communication was right on the money. These took no time to install in addition to the crossbars we ordered. They fit on my SantaFe sport 2013 with panoramic sunroof fabulously. Looks just like the video vehicle. Bought them for a couple of ten foot kayaks. No slipping or shifting. Went up to 60mph. If you are hesitant, don't be. My husband and I are thrilled with our purchase! We have even been return customers!
This is my second Rhino-Rack. They go on very easily and hold the bikes/kayaks and even an extension ladder very well....thanks for a great product
The rack and crossbars were easy to install using the instructions and videos, great product, very happy we got them.
