Yakima JetStream Crossbars - 50" Long - Silver - Qty 2:Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at our Yakima roof rack with the JetStream crossbars and the baseline towers for your 2019 Ford Fiesta Sedan. So having a smaller sedan like the Ford Fiesta doesn't mean you can't carry around the fun accessories. If you wanna carry around, let's say a kayak or a roof box or even a roof mounted bike rack, then you need a roof rack system. So there's a bunch of different options for your sedan. This is gonna be the Yakima JetStream and a baseline combination. This one is a little trickier to install so stick around if you wanna see the install process.
The perks of it though is you get more crossbar spread and a more level surface. Plus this can work with your other Yakima accessories. So let's take some measurements with it on our car to see if it is right fit for you. So with the Yakima crossbar since they have an open track underneath you can actually get an even longer crossbar if you want. They do recommend a 50 inch just because you still get some overhang about two and 1/4 inches to be exact, but it's not too long where you're just hitting your head when you're getting into the car.
This probably has the longest crossbar spread compared to those other brands. That's because the flat area of your Ford Fiesta isn't that far apart. The Yakima baseline towers can tilt those so we can put them further apart. You are stuck to a fixed point though. So measuring from half or the middle part of a crossbar to the other, we have a 33 inch crossbar spread.
So usually things like roof boxes or roof baskets require a specific spread. Double check yours. There's also two roof measurements you'll wanna remember. One is gonna be the distance from the top of the roof to bottom of the bar. Here we have it at about two and 1/2 inches in the center.
So if you have clamps or U bolts and wing nuts that go around you'll want enough space for that. Two and 1/2 inches is pretty normal. So that's a good amount. Now the next is gonna be the height added to the top of the roof. Here we have it just past three and 1/2. That's where your cargo sits. So let's say you have skis with extra tall bindings you want enough clearance there. If you find you don't have enough clearance then you can take a look at our accessories that give you the extra height Of Yakima's crossbars, I like the JetStream bars because they're the modern aero design. So compared to your round and square crossbars which are more traditional, those had a lot of wind drag a lot of wind noise when going down the highway. These are more sleek and they are less noisy when driving down. Plus, you have some other features like the T track channel. If you take off the end cap, you get access into that T track. Now here, some other brands require that you cut up the wind strip but you just push down for the Yakima JetStream bars and you can slide those accessories through. If you choose to, you can get a lock core put into the tower, but once you take that end cap off you now have access to the tower and you can then take the entire system off from here. But this also utilizes a custom fit kit which has the pad as well as the hook. Now the hook just goes into your door. It's custom fit, so you can slam your door on it without any issues. Just make sure you get the right one. So here at etrailer we have a fit guide. Put your year make model and then search for our roof racks. And then we kit everything together for you. That's the crossbar, the tower and the appropriate fit kit for your vehicle. So my personal thoughts about the Yakima roof rack system is it really depends on the level of comfort you have with installing a roof rack. This one's a little tricky even I get a little confused sometimes with all the different measurements and all the different settings, but once you do get it onto your roof, it works great. You have a longer crossbar spread, you have a very sleek system and you have a strong tower as well as crossbar. So there's really pros and cons to it. If you want something more simple definitely check out something like the Inno roof rack system. I did do some videos right here on our car if you want to compare, but otherwise if you like Yakima roof racks, have other Yakima accessories this is a great option for you. So this has almost everything you need to install it. You're gonna get the included tool which has a torque setting. Things not included are gonna be those lock cores I mentioned earlier, as well as a tape measure to make sure everything gets lined up. So grab yours and let's install this. So the install process can be really confusing especially since this has a lot of adjustability to it compared to some other brands. So that's what this video is for. I'm gonna guide you through that process. I actually already installed the rear crossbar and we will install the front crossbar together. The very first thing you need to do is set up your towers. So you have this metal plate and then you have this adjustable piece. So this piece pops into the tower top and make sure it clicks through, just like that. And then place this on top. In order to thread through you are gonna have to do this where you open up that door and then you can access it from underneath. Just barely tighten that down just so it's threaded on there so that you still have enough space for it to slide onto your crossbar. There's actually numbers printed on your crossbar so just follow your instructions. It'll tell you where to line up your tower. In our case here, we're gonna line this up 237. In this under of your crossbar, you're gonna have an arrow so make sure the arrow is facing away from you. I added some paint there so it's more visible. Now with the arrow facing away from you you can now adjust the tilt of your towers. So A will be up top, then B in center, C is on the bottom. Once you have it at the tilt you need then just tighten that down. Then get the pad and then pop that onto the tower. You want that arrow facing out make sure you hear the click. Then set your toe angle. So here we have it at toe angle number one and then tighten down that middle bolt. Then there's gonna be measurements for where you're gonna put your crossbars. So here our measurement is this is gonna be M2 and it says eight inches which means from your window and then go back. You're gonna want to set your crossbar eight inches from your windshield. With the rubber pads on the bottom, you can then gently place your crossbars onto your roof and then line that up with that measurement you just took. You also have the choice to put a sticker down to mark your place if you want to. Now that everything's lined up, open up that door on the tower, get your hook and just snap it into place. So it should go from underneath and into that hook. Now bring the hook down and tighten it down with your included tool. Now, I do recommend tightening it down evenly on each side meaning maybe do halfway onto the driver's side, 75% passenger side, go back and forth so that you don't pull the whole thing one way to another. If you're using your Yakima torque wrench this has a 3.5 Newton meter torque setting. So pretty much all of your bolts whether it's the tow bolt, the pitch bolt, or our hook bolt they should all be tightened down until you hear that torque wrench go off. So you'll hear that click, do it twice like a gas cap. Your final step is just to make sure everything's popped back in. Put those doors back into place and then put your end cap on as well. Once everything's tightened down just don't forget to pop everything back in including that door, and then pop that end cap on as well. If you're using the same key system meaning you have a bunch of Yakima lock cores this is a time where you replace those plastic ones with your metal ones. Those are sold separately. So plan ahead of time. But other than that, with everything tightened down, everything locked up. If that's the choice you're going for that's it for the install. Good job. You're ready to hit the road. And that right there was a look at the Yakima roof rack with the 50 inch long JetStream crossbars and the custom fit kit for your 2019 Ford Fiesta Sedan..

Full-length aluminum bars maximize carrying capacity.Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Yakima Baseline with Yakima CBX 18 Cargo Box fitted on my 2012 Toyota Corolla S Sedan 2012.
Instructions were clear and roof rack was easily installed.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
You guys provide great products and excellent customer service.
Thanks
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
The 50” jetstream cross bars were perfect for my 2019 Ford Ranger with my ARE cap. They are paired with the Yakima Skyline towers and appropriate landing pads (protip: call etrailer when you order to ensure you have the correct setup;)
These cross bars are SILENT on my cap. Zero wind noise. My daughter and I installed them on a Friday (I do recommend watching etrailer’s installation video in addition to the paper instructions) and left for a 700 mile weekend road trip the next day to pick up a kayak, paddle with friends downstate then drop her off at summer camp.
Even with empty Yakima Jaylows on top, no wind noise. Even with a boat in the Jaylows, no wind noise.
These are the sweetest rack’s I’ve had. With the Skyline towers and landing pads, they are also easy to take off and put on. Click click done.
They look good, too;)
etrailer customer service for the win, too. When I originally ordered, I did not order all the items I needed for installation. When I realized this, I called and they got me squared away.
I’m using these towers in conjunction with the JetStream cross bars. Assembly and setup was easy, all the tools you need are provided, except perhaps a tape measure for mounting. Looks and feels solid and well made. This is my second set of Yakima towers and cross bars. I plan to use this setup for an old roof top hard shell case and for my mountain bike to get to the trail head.
After completing the installation I took it out for a spin to check for wind noise at highway speeds. No discernible noise, I’m very happy about that as I really don’t want to remove these when not needed. For reference these are mounted on a 2019 Subaru Forester Touring with factory raised rails. Plenty of clearance for attaching equipment and gear.
Side note: the gentleman that assisted me on the phone while ordering was very pleasant and helpful, got me the right products very quickly as I was in a time crunch. Two thumbs up!
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Well packaged and on time
Great product - very good quality. I liked the fact that I could keep the risers mounted on my car, but could remove the cross bars. It took me awhile to install - but I'm not very mechanically inclined.
etrailer installation videos were very helpful in selecting the product and first installation, although in practice, minor adjustments to method were required. Now after more than a dozen set ups, mounting the crossbars takes 15 minutes, and taking them off, 10. The system is well made, and when mounted, precise, strong, and reliable. Expensive perhaps compared to alternatives, but well worth the money. Used to carry a 50# sailboard 40 miles to the beach on weekends. ('11 Honda Fit)
One minor shortcoming: rubber sheet glued to base clips where they touch the car body have torn and moved sideways 1/16", but expect will be easily replaced with readily available 1/16" sheet rubber (e.g., shower pan liner) when the time comes.
Used in rain at least once, (sustained 60mph), with no leaks.
Good condition quality. Good and detailed instructions but aittle tedious install.
Roof rack parts were ordered correctly and shipped quickly.
I needed crossbars for my new 2018 Mazda CX5, which came with flush side rails. The Yakima crossbars, along with the RidgeLine Towers and the the vehicle specific kit worked great. The installation (10-15 min) is super easy. They look cool, and performed great (I strapped 160-lbs rooftop tent on them!). Removing them is also super easy (10 min tops). Highly recommend.
Because of the 'rona-induced supply chain interruptions, I was unable to purchase all of my Yakima components from etrailer, but I did get these, and they are typically excellent Yakima components. Well-made, easy to install, good directions, no problems.
I chose the Yakima roof rack, because It spanned 50 inches, rather than the leading competitor's 47 inches, making it better for tying down 4 ft x 8 ft sheets of building material. It also seemed to be about half the price. It took me about 2 hours to put it all together and mount it on my car. The instructions were all visual and there was one little pic I didn't understand, but the equipment seemed to go together correctly anyway. Now that it's adjusted, it should be fairly easy to remove and replace next time. I did need to put on super tacky gloves to get the covers off. Although it seemed unnecessarily complicated, I would still choose this product again.
Yakima Jetstream cross bars.. nice bars worth the extra money. can be adjusted for pitch/angle of attack to "tune" the air profile.. mine have absolutely no high speed wind noise or whistling.. rubber weather strip underneath further smoothes the bar profile.. quietest roof rack system I have ever owned..
Great product fast shipping
Great! Easy to install!
I have a Buick Envision and it seemed as if it would be difficult to get the correct rack, but it turned out to be easy. I entered my vehicle info and was directed to the Yakima Skyline with flush rails. It was easy to install and they look great. I will be able to take my canoe out with no problem! Joe
I purchased the Baseline towers with base clip fit kit and jetstream crossbars. They were great quality and the instruction materials included for assembly and installation were great. I was able to assemble and install on my Lexus CT 200 in about an hour. It looks nice too!
