Yakima 60" JetStream MD - Black:Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we will be taking a look at our Yakima Roof Rack System. So this has the Yakima JetStream Crossbars, the Baseline Towers and the Custom Fit Kit for your 2020 Ford Edge. So you have your Ford Edge, but maybe you wanna bring it to the next level. Let's say you wanna carry cargo that you don't wanna carry inside of your vehicle, those could be your camping equipment or just your extra bags. Or you may also want to bring other accessories like your bike racks, your roof boxes, your roof baskets, or even your kayaks.
What you then need is a roof rack system. So what I have here is a roof rack system from Yakima. This has the Aero JetStream Crossbars, and it has the towers that give you a little extra height on top of your Ford Edge and the Custom Fit Kit for your vehicle. Since this Ford Edge has a naked roof or no flushed side rails, we'll really talk about how this system works on your Ford Edge, just to see if it's the right fit for you. And I'll guide you through the process of installing them onto your vehicle at the end of this video.
What we have here is the Ford Edge Titanium with the glass roof. So, some people are maybe concerned about if they do put a roof rack on their Ford Edge, will it interfere with the glass roof Will it possibly damage it As you can see here, it is mounted to the side of your vehicle and not on the glass itself. So we don't have to worry about any interference with the glass roof. Now, let's also take a measurement, just to see how much clearance you have for the cargo on top of the crossbars and see if that will interfere with the glass roof or not. So your Ford Edge's roof has a slight curve.
So it will depend on where you measure as to how much clearance you actually have. So I'm gonna measure here at the center, kind of where it slopes to the top. So from the top of our glass roof, to the bottom of our crossbars, we have about 3 and a quarter inches. Now, since Yakima's system has a little bit of maneuverability allowing you to choose how much level you want on your crossbars, that helps with making sure this is a bit more even all throughout. Now, the height added to your roof is going to be 4 and a quarter inches of height.
So these are the Yakima JetStream Crossbars, they're made of aluminum. You can also get them in silver. So they come as black and silver, depending on what kind of trim you have. This has a weight capacity of 165 pounds. Now, whenever we talk about weight capacity, you also have to consider your actual roof weight capacity. So if your roof weight capacity is less than 165 pounds, you are gonna have to add the weight of your roof rack system, the weight of your crossbars, the weight of your accessories, if you have a roof box or roof baskets, plus the weight of your cargo and add that all up together and make sure you don't exceed your actual roof weight capacity. These are Yakima's JetStream Crossbars, which is one of their Aero Crossbars. So before you use to have the more traditional square around crossbars, they would be pretty noisy on the road and have a lot of wind drag. Here, you have a more aerodynamic design. Yakima also has the CoreBars, which are also aero bars. What makes this different is that you have a T-Track system or T-Slot system, meaning you can carry T-Track accessories. What I really like about the Yakima JetStream bars is the way that T-track system works. Instead of having to take off these pieces, kind of like what you'd have to do with Rhino Rack, or it being kind of difficult to use, like Thule. This one, you just press down and put your accessories in it and then it folds around it. Very easy to use and it still keeps it streamlined. These are the 60 inch long JetStream Crossbars. So we'll take some measurements to see how they fit. We're gonna take a look at overhang. So from the tower to right before the end cap, it sits at an overhang of about 5 and a quarter inches on each side. So these are the Baseline Towers, and we do not have lock cores in them because you can have them added to your system. That way you can utilize Yakima's Same Key System, make sure you get a bunch of lock cores ahead of time though, that we only need to use one key to access all your Yakima accessories. So as we take this cap off, look at the inside of our tower, one thing special about this too, is that you have a lot of adjustability. So when it comes to the pitch of your tower or how your crossbar sits on top of it, this will allow you to get a more level fit. It is kind of tricky to use though, but that's pretty much what this video is for to guide you through that process. Notice how this fits onto the grooves of your Ford Edge and fits kind of between your roof as well as your side. So that's how much this is custom fit to fit your vehicle. We also have our Custom Fit Kit. So we have 2 different fit kits for the front and the rear, make sure to use our fit guide here etrailer. So we have the best kit for you and your Ford Edge. This is contoured around the grooves of your vehicle. That way, once you do have it installed and properly installed and tightened down, you don't have to worry about, you can even slam your door on it without any worries at all. So our kit includes everything you need to install this roof rack system, but I also personally recommend some things just to make it a little bit easier. One is going to be a soft tape measure that way we can get the best fit on your vehicle as you install it. Another thing I recommend with pretty much anything roof rack related is the Moki Door Step, this clips right into your door and gives you a little extra height and traction. Very helpful, if you have things on top of your roof rack, like roof boxes, baskets, or things with straps, that you need to tie down. Now, let's take a look at that install process. So the install process is a little bit more involved compared to other after-market roof racks, just because you have to use your different fit kits. So that's what this video is for. I'm gonna guide you through the process of understanding, like what the different numbers on the pads mean, why you have different hooks and make sure that you complete your fit kit, your towers and your crossbars, and assemble them properly as you put them on your vehicle. So we have BC 102 and BC 139. So we have those different fit kits. You're gonna have 102 for the front and then 139 for the rear. Here, we have our tower. So we're gonna assemble our front fit kit first, because that's gonna be the first thing we throw up onto our vehicle. So notice how this fits right into your tower. Just pop them through, make sure to follow the instructions on which way is front, which is back. Notice where we have our arrows. So for our fit kit today, I'm gonna have the arrows facing out, which is facing the outside of your tower. With the different feet attached, we're now ready to attach the towers themselves to our crossbars. So we're using the JetStream Crossbars. So this is the way you set up the towers for those crossbars. You have this silver piece right over here, and then you also have this holder over here. So this fits right into your tower. Just kind of press that through then place the silver piece on top and hold it in place as you flip that crossbar over. Now, you're gonna have a gray tab over here, pull the gray tab, use your Yakima tool and then tighten the tower to that silver piece. It is an involved process, but once you have it connected and threaded through, don't tighten it down all the way, just make sure it's on there. With our towers fully installed, now we can put these on our crossbars. So remember how you loosely tighten down that silver plate Just turn that over and just thread it through the bottom of your JetStream Crossbar. So now you're going to set your M1, your P1 and then your T1. What does that mean Well first, the M1 is going to be how far apart do your towers sit. I'm gonna bring mine to 41 and 1/8 inches, just because that's the given measurement for your front crossbar. So you have these numbers down here. Just line those up. Once you have them set to 41 and 1/8, go do it the same thing on the other side, you can then tighten it down right over here. But before you tighten it down, let's take a look at the P1 measurement. So this here is P1, which adjusts the pitch of your roof rack. So if you have it loose, you can move it back and forth. What ours says, it wants it at B, which is just center. So we're just gonna center that and then tighten that down. Once you've done the same thing on the other side, and then you tighten them down, you're then gonna take a look at your T1 measurement. So that's your whole measurement and you can find that right over here. With this bolt loose, you can then adjust your feet back and forth. Our measurement says it wants it at 2, 2 is going to be the center. So we'll just get that lined up to the center and then tighten that down. All right, with everything tightened down. I think we're ready to put this on our roof and see if we did it properly. So for your front crossbars, you're gonna measure from the edge of your window, all the way to the inner edge of your tower and that's going to be 14 inches. Once you have both towers lined up, you can then put your hooks in. The next part can be a little tricky, where you have your Yakima hook and then you have your Yakima tool. So I loosened the bolt right over here on our tower. And then I'm just gonna slip this into it right there, just enough to get it latched on then push down on that bolt as I tighten our hook down onto our vehicle. Once you tighten down both sides, you can then close this and then you can then put your caps onto your towers. This fits right onto your towers. Just pop that in and then your end caps for your crossbars. Do the exact same thing for your rear crossbars, but make sure you follow the measurements for your rear crossbars, but that's pretty much all there is to the install process. So my personal thoughts about this roof rack system is if you have other Yakima accessories or you're looking for something that just really looks good, this might be a really good option for you. You can get this keyed alike to your other accessories. The JetStream bars look really good on your Ford Edge. And I personally am a big fan of the T-Track system. Now one downside, which may not be a downside for some people is the adjustability of the towers. It can get a little tricky. There's a lot of different bolts to turn, a lot of different ways to move them. If you are easily overwhelmed by the install process, maybe it's not the best fit for you. You have other easier to install roof racks like from Rhino Rack that's pretty easy to install. The Inno Roof Rack also is pretty easy to install. Those though, don't have the same kind of system that this does on top. So the ease of use once it's finally installed is different. But those we're the pros, those we're the cons of this roof rack system. Hopefully this video helped you out with seeing if it's the right fit for you, the right fit for if you can install it or not, and the right fit as well for your vehicle. And that was look right here at our Yakima Roof Rack System with the JetStream Crossbars, the Baseline Towers and the Custom Fit Kit for your 2020 Ford Edge..

Full-length aluminum bars maximize carrying capacity.Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
product was just what I needed The folks at etrailer were extremely helpufl!!
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
Easy to install. It probably took 45min. I bought them for my 2024 Expedition to haul a canoe. I have not done that yet but I expect no issues.
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
etrailer had a quick response to my email request for info regarding the replacement parts I needed. The suggested replacement part were exactly what I needed to fix the issue.
Love it! We've made several long trips with full luggage loads.
The Yakima rack system for my 2015 Ford Fusion is an awesome product! I hadn't needed to buy aftermarket racks in many years. These are a super solid, beefy, and very well made product. I am very impressed with the quality and fit. Yakima has obviously put lots of design time into them. And etrailer does an outstanding job of making sure you get the right product for your specific need.
I chose this rack specifically because of the spread between the bars - 32" - and for the higher weight limit, as I'm carrying a fishing kayak.
Well packaged and on time
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
Not a bad setup. I dont believe you need the 60" bars i received as they hang over the edge of your Hyundai. You need to watch your head getting in and out of your vehicle. The Jetstream crossbars are very loud at speeds over 65 mph. Im probably used to it by now, but it is definitely noticeable. Much louder than an older Rhino Rack of similar dimensions i had. Install was simple and took about 30 minutes, just take your time and measure correctly like all roof racks.
Easy to order and quick to ship. Took a bit of time to get these installed correctly so they fit just right.
Perfect fit for our car, much better than any OEM rack I've ever seen.
Yakima towers and crossbars were solid and easy to install with the very well written instructions. We used them on 2 cross country trips with any loosening. They were easy to remove. We plan to use them again as the need arises.
1 year later and still love my Yakima JetStream system. I've mostly used them to transport my kayak however I've also been able to transport some big box store items as well. They are very versatile. There is a t-track option as well as wrap around attachments. I've use ladder attachments, eyebolts, and Thule Hullavator in t-track. I've used Malone MegaWing and Yakima Skybox as wrap around attachment. What I really like about the t-track system is that you do not need to cut out the rubber track insert. You simply slide over the rubber, which allows you to adjust your system, on the fly, to load what you need to carry.
Great product fast shipping
Great! Easy to install!
Great service and great staff. They will have all the technical information you need.
Very happy with the Yakima roof top rack kit for my 2017 Ford Edge with glass roof. The instructions were a little confusing at first, but after reading through them a couple of times while working with the product they became much clearer. The Yakima fit site was helpful as well. After the initial cross bar mounting measurements and set up, attaching and detaching the racks from the roof is a very simple process.
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
These Yakima crossbars are a part of the Yakima towers I bought to install on my Jeep Cherokee to hold a pair of Kayaks. They fit great as advertised. In fact I got these discounted as an open box. I would have never known, they look brand new. Thank you etrailer for your great advice, customer service and quick shipping process.
