Recommended Roof Rack to Fit a 2014 Ford Fusion and 2018 Ford Edge with Panoramic Roof

To Whom it may concern, My wife and I have a 2014 Ford Fusion and a 2018 Ford Edge with panoramic moon roof. We recently got rid of her Toyota Tacoma for the Edge and my old F-250 isnt the best for long trips just to take bicycles or kayaks out. I started looking at trailer hitches for the Edge with the idea of getting a hitch mounted bike rack but then I ran across the roof racks and that got me thinking. Is there a roof rack you have that would be able to fit onto both the 2014 Fusion and the 2018 Edge so that I would be able to swap vehicles if needed? I look forward to your response. Thanks.

Yes, we do have a way that you can combine most of the parts for a roof rack that fits both your 2014 Ford Fusion and your 2018 Ford Edge with the panoramic roof!
For this system we have the 60" Yakima JetStream Crossbars # Y00426 Black, along with the BaseLine Towers # Y28TR. The fit kits for your Fusion are parts # Y06110 and # Y06102 while the kits for your Edge are parts # Y06102 and # Y06139. To add locks to the roof rack you would need the 4-core lock kit # Y07204.
Since they both use the 6102 fit kit you can either get one of those and swap it with the bars and towers or you can get 2 sets and keep the fit kits with each vehicle.
Attached are review videos of this roof rack system on both a 2015 Edge and a 2013 Fusion. Please note that the typical JetStream bars for a Fusion are 50" long. I spoke with my contact at Yakima who said that the 60" bars would still be perfectly acceptable to use on the Fusion.
It sounds like you don't already have a bike rack or kayak carrier yet. If this is the case then I highly recommend the Yakima FrontLoader # Y02103 which allows you to keep the front wheels on your bikes (as long as they don't have fenders) and then the Yakima JayLow # Y04073 as it gives you a great looking, functional option that can carry up to 2 kayaks with the additional tie-down kit # Y04031.
