Video Transcript for Inno Roof Bike Racks Review - 2017 Kia Forte5

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com today. Today, we're checking out the Inno roof rack bike rack on our 2017 Kia Forte5. Now, this is a good bike rack for your roof rack because it's really easy to install and holds your bike really well. You see it didn't shake. It's so sturdy on that, I can shake the car back and forth, the bike's nice and sturdy. It's not going anywhere.

If you come in and look at it a little bit closer, you see that I recommend it for quick release bikes. So you've got the forks that sit down in there and this lever is pulled and now it's nice and tight in that spot. Really easy to install that bike. If you have a through axle bike, I would recommend maybe looking at the Thule Top Ride, instead. This one was a little more difficult to get a through axle bike mounted onto the rack.

Now come in and look at it. I can open it up a little bit. You do have a lock up here at top. I like that. It's that extra security because with this lock, that means nobody can release this, especially with this guard in place.

I can't pull this lever to release that you see, I can't get the quick release to come undone. So it's protected there. This is locked up. So I couldn't even get this to move here. So, that just protects the bike on the rack.

And then it locks the rack to the roof rack here too, because you can't get to the hand knob that's in here because it's all covered up and locked up. So, that's just going to keep everything in place. And I like that added security on a rooftop bike rack. Now we can go ahead and remove the bike and get it out of the way. This is going to open that up, remove the guard so you can clearly see this over here. You want to do the wheel strap first though, back here, get that up and out of the way. Then we're going to throw this lever. That's how easy it is. It's undone. It's going to reach up there and grab that, lifts up off the forks and remove our bike. That's out of the way. Put everything back in place, just like that. Something to take a look at is the band down here. This is how it attaches to your roof rack. Really easy, tool free. I like that. You don't have to bring anything else up onto the roof with you. Just turn this to loosen it or this way to tighten it, and it's going to pull that band tight underneath here on that roof rack. And that's how it gets it's good hole. Really easy to do, I like that. I like not having the tools. Coming back a little bit further, we'll look at our wheel cradle. Now this can be set up for a mountain bike tires, or you can see the groove here with road bike tires, either way you pass the tire down, just pull the rest of the strap down in place, gets it nice and tight. So again, really easy and very sturdy. Another thing I like about this is you can move this back and forth to accommodate different wheel bases, so that just helps you with multiple bikes, shifting this around. With this move, let's go get a measurement and see how much space it takes up on the top of your roof. Go from the roof rack up, from the bar up to here. It's about six inches. It's going to add there. So, just keep that in mind when you're pulling in the garage, you don't want to have any issues with clearance or anything like that. Now, another thing is that this can be adjustable here too. So you can kind of adjust this for your roof. On this one, however, you're going to make a little bit of contact with the back hatch. So let me show you, I got the tape measure in my pocket. I'm going to pop this open. You see it's going to make contact right here with the spoiler first and then probably with the glass if I let go of this. So, don't want to do that. Don't want to cause you damage. Just keep that in mind, you won't have full hatch access, but that's enough to get in there and grab something and just make sure you keep your hand on here, so it doesn't go up and cause any damage. The weight, the bike rack, it holds 50 pounds. So, keep that in mind when you're loading up your bike on there, that's actually quite a bit for a roof rack. So, that's pretty impressive. Overall though, it's aluminum, really lightweight again, easy to throw on there, easy to add that quick release bike. I recommend it. Well, thanks for hanging out and I hope this helps..

Inno Roof Bike Rack for 1 Bike - Fork Mount - IN26VR

Fork-mount rack lets you carry a bike with a 9-mm quick-release, thru-axle, or Boost thru-axle on your roof rack. Locking lid with quick-release guard secures bike to rack and rack to crossbars. Easy installation on most crossbars.

I bought two bike racks for my mountain bike and e-bike. Bikes are easy to mount and both bikes are held securely. Installing the racks to my Tonneau Elevate Tack System was challenging because the bars are on the large side, slightly wider than the 3-2/2” spec. I had to remove the T-Slot channel guard from under the bracket, loosen the straps all the way and push hard to get the strap ends into the holders. After the initial installation it seems a little easier. The strap adjustment screw at the fork end of the rack came out of the threaded hole. I was able to re-engage the screw into the threads by removing the rack, turning it over and using a small flat head screwdriver to push the side of the screw to align it with the hole. I believe this occurs because the screw is a little too short (the adjustment knob / screw stops before this could happen at the other end of the rack.)

Overall I’m happy and would recommend it to others. I especially like that it’s rated for 50#, higher than most if not all other similar bike racks.

  • Recommended Roof Rack and Bike Rack for 2019 Honda Civic Coupe
The roof rack I recommend for a 2019 Honda Civic Coupe is the Inno Square Crossbar System part # INB137, part # INSUT, and part # INK683. This system attaches via car clips inside the door jambs so there is no modifications required. For a bike rack, the Inno Roof Bike Rack part # IN26VR is great for through axles and quick-release though it will require you to remove the wheel. It has locks for both the rack and bike so everything including the roof rack will be secure.
