Selecting The Correct Derale 13" Rigid, Steel-Blade Race Fan Based On Engine Direction
The Derale 13" Rigid, Steel-Blade Race Fan # D17313 is designed to turn clockwise in the standard direction and pull air in from the radiator towards the motor. If your engine spins in a counter clockwise direction you will need the Derale 13" Rigid, Steel-Blade Race Fan # D17413. This will ensure the cool air is pulled through the radiator and towards the engine.

Do Mechanical Radiator Fans Require Shrouds
Haven't had any issues with the Derale Fan part # D17313 that you referenced. You will want a shroud though otherwise it won't pull enough air through the radiator. When I had a vehicle that had a mechanical fan not having the fan close enough to the shroud caused the vehicle to overheat. Failure to have a shroud all together will cause the vehicle to overheat at a stop. We do not sell shrouds for use with mechanical fans, but you would need to have a shroud on your vehicle that is designed...
