Video Transcript for Mighty Cord RV Wiring - Power Inlet - A10-30INBKVP Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Mighty Cord Replacement RV Power Inlet. This power inlet provides an easy and convenient location for plugging in your RVs power cord. It's going to feature the male twist lock plug that accepts a 30 amp female twist lock plug. The threaded ring creates a weatherproof connection with a locking ring on your RV's power cord. The unit's made from a very strong and durable construction. It's going to feature a secure, water tight dust cover that protects the inlet when the unit's not being used. It's black in color. On the back side here, it's going to have a foam gasket that goes around the parameter. That's going to ensure a nice seal at the mounting location. When it comes to the overall dimensions, going edge to edge this direction, measures around 3 and 5/16ths of an inch.

This direction, edge to edge, is a little bit closer to 3 and 7/8ths of an inch. It does require a 2 and 7/8th inch diameter hole at the mounting location. The internal wiring from your RV connects to the color coded terminals at the back of the inlet. You can see here are your terminals. These are the slots. This one is white, this one is green, and this one is black. Again, the internal wiring from your RV connects to the color coded terminals at the back of the inlet. What you'll need to do is loosen up each terminal screw and then insert the stripped wire into the color coded openings and then tighten each terminal screw.

White is neutral, green is ground, and black is the main power lead. Your mount holes. You can see there's going to be four mount holes on the unit. Mounting hardware not included. Each mount hole is center on center. Those are separated on center by about 2 and 7/16ths of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the Mighty Cord Replacement RV Power Inlet..

The power inlet fit into the existing holereally well. However, the twist lock and my cord are difficult to get the threads aligned. The plastic threads are very fine and it is easier to get a cross-threaded start than on the other unit. I'm developing a technique that seems to work pretty often and am hoping that continuing to get it to start right will get it to work better. Other than that it is well constructed and does the job well

by:

Got tired of shoving my power cable through a hole in the side of my RV, so I purchased this item and the female end for my power cord. Had to do a little adapting on the side of the trailer but assembly was simple. All in, I had it installed and my trailer powered up in less than 90 minutes.

by:

Product works great, used it to add electric to home made trailer. Shipping was unbelievablely fast

by:

Pairs nicely with the angled cord repla cement.

by:

Very good service and attention to the needs of the customer. Shipping was great and order arrived as promised. Would highly recommend

by:

Easy to install, however needed to make myself a backplate to install on the RV. The existing hole was a bit too big for my liking. I machined my own back plate and screwed this outlet to it, installed and wired to RV.

Works great. No complaints so far and it's been on the RV for a few months.

I've been purchasing parts from etrailer for a number of years. I like the availability, quick shipping and the extra product info/video provided. Not always the cheapest price but the extra attention has value. I had to modify this plug install somewhat since I didn't want to try and make an additional cut in the rv wall but, it all worked out just fine. Good going

by:

Simple to use and with a locking feature. The cover will keep things clean inside while moving down the road. Using this for my enclosed trailer build.

by:

This performed as advertised and was a direct replacement.

by:

Great customer service, always on time delivery.

The product is a very nice product. Arrived quickly. My only issue is there was no follow up on the product being mailed. I would order more from this company.

  • Updating Power Plug on 1972 Truck Bed Camper
It sounds like you may have a connector on your truck bed camper that's similar to a hookup for a dryer. If that's the case we definitely don't have any adapters for it and you'll likely have a hard time finding one so rewiring it to a modern-style connector would be more beneficial and for that I recommend checking out the Pollak RV 7-Blade Plug End Socket w/Mounting Bracket # PK12-704. This gives you a modern 7-Way socket and plug so both your truck and camper connections will match. Attached...

  • Power Inlet for DIY Build/Ambulance Camper Conversion
If your electrical distribution system is not rated for 30 amps you should not be trying to plug into a 30 amp RV power pedestal at a camp site. From the attached images you are correct, you obviously have a 20 amp plug as it is clearly labeled for that rating. This does not mean your ambulance conversion project has a power distribution system rated only for 20 amps, just that your power cord is limited to such. In the RV world you primarily see a camper with either a 30 amp or, the...

  • Shore Power RV Connection is Melting
To be perfectly honest, unless you're pretty knowledgeable when it comes to RV wiring, you'd be well served by having somebody look at your travel trailer. The discoloration you mention tells me that this has probably been an ongoing problem, and you'd be best off getting it checked out before something bad happens. The power pedestals at RV parks are supposed to be circuit protected, but how well things at RV parks are maintained can vary greatly, as you've likely seen. The Mighty Cord...

  • Can You Install an RV Air Conditioner On a Van
The issues you'll run into installing an RV air conditioner in a van are BTU rating and roof thickness. The RV air conditioners are designed to cool much larger spaces so installing one in a much smaller space would often freeze you out. The roof thickness in a van is also much less than the roof thickness in an RV so you will need to find a way to add additional backing to make the unit compatible. The smallest units we offer are 13,500 BTU's like the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part...
