Today we're going to be taking a look at the Epicord 50 amp twist lock power inlet. This inlet allows you to create a new inlet location or replace an old one. It's going to come with the installation instructions. Those are going to help with the installation process. The construction of the unit is a strong and durable construction that uses corrosion resistant materials. It's like a plastic construction.

The color is going to be black, so this is a black face plate. This is what's going to visible on the outside of your RV. It's going to offer a clean, stylish look. When it comes to the amperage, it's going to have a max amperage of 50 amps that's capable of up to 250 volts so it's going to work well for you 110 or 220 application. It is CETL and ETL US listed.

It does come with a rear safety enclosure. That's this piece right here and it's going to come with a hardware to get that installed. That secures by placing the hardware in these two internal holes, so you can see one right there and then you can see the other one right there. That threads in and this is going to be that enclosure at the back. You can also see that we have the connection points for our wires, 4-wire design and it's got the terminal screws on there so you can get the wired seated in there correctly and securely. Here on the backside, it's going to have a foam gasket.

That's going to sit between the inlet and the mounting surface to protect the mounting surface and add some cushion between the two mounting surfaces. Now to get this installed in a new location, it is going to require a 2-1/2 inch diameter hole to be cut. The lid is a nice design. It opens up. That's fully open.

Right here, it's also got a foam padding so it's going to help keep the elements out from the connection points when nothing's connected. You'll also notice that it has the threaded portion there so on those twist lock adapters, they plug in. You twist the connector and then you thread down the collar for a nice, tight, secure fit. Nice design and then once you're ready to close it up, you can see that when you just set it down it doesn't close all the way. You've got to push it and allow it to snap. That's going to keep it closed during travel. This does require the use of 6-gauge wiring. Your installation hardware's not included. In the instructions, it's recommended that you use number 8 pan head stainless steel screws. Once you have this in place, you'll notice also that it has the four mount holes, so one on each corner. Once you have this installed, you would need to take this off and take this off as well, a couple of pieces right here. So, you'd run your wiring that's connected to the RV through this component, through this component, bring it all the way to this part right here. You'd strip your wiring and then you'd place the bare wire into the color coded terminals right here. Once you have the bare wire in there, you can use a flat head screwdriver to tighten the terminal screws and it's going to seat them. That's going to make for a good connection. Once you have that done, you're really ready to go ahead and tighten everything down. This comes up over the wires, pushes on just like that. As you tighten this piece on, it's going to close this portion, which is going to form a nice tight fit over the wires and the jacketing that's around the wires. That's going to keep the elements, or anything, dirt and grime and debris from getting into those connection points. A few measurements I want to go over with you real quick. Here at the front, outer edge to outer edge going this direction, we're looking at a measurement of about 3-5/16 of an inch. Going this direction, we're looking at about 3-3/4 of an inch. Those mount holes, those are going to be separated on center by 2-7/16 of an inch and it's going to be same measurement going the other direction as well.
