Video Transcript for Westin PRO TRAXX Oval Nerf Bars Installation - 2015 Ford F-150

Today on our 2015 Ford F-150, we'll be installing the Westin Pro Traxx Oval Nerf Bars. They are part number 21-23935. These cab length oval bars will make it easier to get in and out of your truck while looking factory installed. They offer greater stability than round bars, and have sealed ends to keep out moisture. The sturdy plastic resists UV rays, and fading, and cracking. The bars are made from steel with a black powder coat to resist rust and corrosion.

It's quick and easy to install with no drilling required. Here's what our Nerf bars come with. Obviously, we have the Nerf Bar here. We have our bracket for the driver front, notated by the DF on it. Each one's marked so you don't have to worry about mixing them up.

The right front will be marked PF for passenger front. We have another bracket here that attaches to that. On the back, it's the same thing. Again, driver's rear notated on it, identical bracket there. All four of them are the same. Here's our hardware.

We have our bolts to secure the Nerf Bar to the bracket, lock washers here, the washers for that, and then the washers, lock washers, nuts, and carriage bolts for mounting our brackets to the vehicle itself. Additionally, we have these plastic shims here that are used to prevent the corrosion from forming since we're mounting a steel Nerf Bar to an aluminum body truck. Also, it does come with a 6 millimeter Allen key to install the bolts that hold the Nerf Bars to the bracket. However, what I would like to do will be using a 6 millimeter socket that I had with the Allen key on it just so I can use it on a ratchet to speed up the process a little bit. I need a 6 millimeter, a 13 millimeter socket.

I have an electric cordless ratchet here to help speed up the process a little bit, and finally a torque wrench. Those are the only tools you'll need to install these Nerf Bars. Now on the rear of our vehicle on the Rocker Panel, you'll find 3 of these threaded studs hanging off of it. That's where our rear mount goes. Right now, I'll take one of those clear plastic corrosion inhibitor shims. We'll install them on the studs. Just push it on it and give it a turn like you're threading a nut on while you do it just to run it down. It speeds up the process a little bit. We'll do that on all 3 of the studs on our back bracket. With those on, we'll do the same on the front. Starting off our rear bracket here, have it positioned like this. We'll take this flange here, install this carriage bolt from the backside like so in the middle hole. Stick it on like this. The flat ridge here will face up on all of our brackets. Take our flat washer and our lock washer, and we'll just loosely thread this on for the time being. Now, we can assemble the front bracket about the same way. We'll just slide them over the studs. We'll place a flat washer on, lock washer, and then one of the 8 millimeter nuts, doing the same for all 3 of those studs. We'll do the same on the back one now too. We'll take our rear bracket . Our bracket's loosely installed now. We can set our Nerf Bar on top of them and start the bolts for those. Then, we'll tighten everything up. We'll just raise it up, center the holes over the bracket, and let it rest on there. We'll take one of our Allen bolts here. We'll install a lock washer on it, and then a flat washer. We'll thread it into the hole. There'll be two bolts on each bracket, just loosely for now. Make sure you get them in straight, and they don't cross thread. Move on to the front bracket and we'll do the same. We'll use our 13 millimeter socket on our ratchet, and we'll tighten the 4 bolts on each bracket starting with the one that bolts the 2 brackets together first, and then the 3 to the body. We'll do the same on the front bracket too. Now, we want to try to level the Nerf Bar out, because as you can see you can rotate it a little bit and it will change the level of the foot pad. What I try to do is push it all the way towards the back, that way the foot pad's the most level. Now, we'll take a 6 millimeter socket and we'll snug up those bolts too. Doing the same on the front . With all of our bolts snug down, we can now torque them down with specified amounts found in the instructions. That completes our installation on the driver's side. We'll repeat the exact same process for the passenger side. That completes our installation of the Westin Pro Traxx Oval Nerf Bars that are 4 inches in diameter with a black powder-coated steel finish, part number 21-23935 on our 2015 Ford F-150.

These had great instructions, were super-easy to install and look fantastic!!

I am an Accessories dealer. These are some of the best fitting bars I use. Great product!

by:
2019 Ford Flex

Very well built, easy to assemble, I probably spent more time counting and separating the nuts, bolts and washers than I did in the entire assembly total maybe 1 hour. Very sturdy I felt no flex in the bar at all when I stepped on it, my wife can now get into the truck without my help. Highly recommend. Drops the step height from the truck to the ground about three inches

excellent service very fast on shipping of product

2016 FordF-150

Truck running boards arrived on time just like they said 3 to 5 days. Where easy to install, but one had a dent in it.It was on the bottom so it won't show. I think it was done by rough shipping, the shipping box was kind of tore up. So it was'nt etrailers fault. Overall was pleased with product.

Installation of Nerf Bars was a breeze. So easy using the factory mounting holes. Perfect size for the regular cab truck.
Thule rack also straight forward install. We plan to load it up this week and really test it out. Looking forward to putting all of this equipment to work.

by:

These arrived a day earlier than was told. The box was in good condition and all of the parts were included. The installation instructions were good and the online videos helped. I installed them right after they were delivered. The bars look really good, I'm surprised at only 3 mounts per side though. Kinda looks like it should have 4. They are solid and I'm expecting many years of use.

by:

These rails look amazing on my truck!! Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the drivers side and passenger side are different and instructions only displays drivers side. 1.5 hour installation still not bad!

by:

I haven't had any reason to dislike the nerf bars I purchased a year ago . They look good on my truck and the way they were installed in exactly right place . At times I wish I had got stainless but other than that , they are perfect .

by:

I like that feel very solid no flexing when anyone stands on them. I have had a couple of friends who really like the look of them on the truck and ask where I got them. After one year of them on my 2022 Colorado I have had no problems at all.

by:

Made it easier to enter the truck. Not to hard for one person to install by themselves. I love the way they look.

by:

Look great! Easy to install! Glad we purchased them.

by:

Quality of the product is great, however the instructions weren't very clear. Now that they are installed I am very happy.

by:

These nerf bars are great! They are very well constructed, are easy to install, and look good. The fit my 2020 F-350 perfectly. They also are a great price. I went with the matte black finish and it looks great. I like the fact that the ends of the bars welded shut unlike other bars I have had which typically have had a plastic cap over the end. The plastic cap will eventually leak and the bars rust from the inside out. These bars do ride a bit higher than my old OEM Ford nerf bars did. This gives improves the look but creates a higher step. The one thing I would suggest to the manufacturer is to supply a few extra spacer washer in the kit for the purpose of leveling it out visually.

by:

Parts fit and installation was a breeze. The instructions should tell you that brackets have a stamp for location: Driver Side and Passenger Side. Found out via [online] (PF = Passenger Front, DF= Driver Front, PR = Passenger Rear, DR = Driver Rear. Otherwise the running board looks great

by:

We were able to mount the running boards in a bout 2 hours total. They are very sturdy, everything lined up exactly, and they look Great! I had to call tech support because the instructions had not been updated to make sure it would fit my 2019 4Runner. They answered the phone quickly and confirmed that they would fit all the way up to a 2023 4Runner and they were easy to mount!

by:

Super easy to install, so save yourself a little time and put the little black plastic vanity pieces on before you mount anything to the vehicle..did passenger that way and it was much easier. Even with doing the drivers side the order of instructions it still only took 45 minutes start to finish, had I done both sides with the vanity pieces first probably would have been done in 30 minutes.

by:

The nerf bars I purchased a year ago have held up wonderfully. They have no rust and the color is still fantastic. They were a great addition to my truck. They changed the look of my stock 2019 Ram 1500 completely.

by:

Perfect fit easy to install

by:

Ordered Westin 4" running boards cab length for 2024 Chevy 2500. Product arrived quickly and matched exactly as ordered. Perfect fit and easy to install. Would highly recommend.

by:

Good points:
The rails and brackets lined
up pervert with the Dodge provided rod posts.
All in all installation was tight and sturdy.

Not so good points:
The stainless finish lacked a brilliant shine that I expected.
Had some dull spots. Stainless thickness gauge seamed a little light.
Installation instructions we’re not clear.
Brackets instructions should have diagram showing the layout.
Hardware could of been labeled better as well.

by:

Extreme helpful determining the right product and getting it to me quickly. It was exactly as advertised and installed easily. Continues to work even better than expected. Thank you.

by:

Easy installation and a nice upgrade for my truck.

by:

Installed one year ago on my 2015 Jeep Rubicon Wrangler Unlimited. Installation was simple, with the exception of one thing. To install the step you must permanently remove the "rock sliders" with leaves the bottom seam of the body exposed.
The steps still look in newish condition, except for the color (now dark gray) which has caught up with all the black plastic on my Jeep, thanks to the AZ sun. The rubber tread can be slick when wet.

by:

We really like the look and fitment of the nerf bars, however, the steps are a little too slick when it gets wet.
