Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install these ARIES Round Running Boards on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Now this is gonna be our double cab variant. They make kits for these running boards for your quad cabs or your crew cabs, your double cabs and single cabs. So just plug your vehicle information into our fit guide and make sure you pick up the right boards for your truck because they are custom fit.

These are gonna run the length of our Silverado on the side and match up with our double cab perfectly. Let's check 'em out. So this is going to be a 3 inch round steel tube for a running board and it's going to have a somewhat glossy black powder coat over there to help protect against rest and corrosion. Very strong and sturdy. These steps that line up with each of the doors are gonna be made of a polypropylene and have a bit of tread on them to keep them from being slippery if they're wet and that's gonna be our step point to get up into the vehicle.

Overall, these work very well. They're just wide enough that I feel like I can get a comfortable hold on it with one foot as I step up into the truck or as I step out just so it's not as big of a jump as we're getting up into the cab of our truck. The tubes are completely sealed and on the ends here there is a small rubber plug here to prevent water from getting in, helping to make sure it doesn't rust from the inside out either. These things are really well built and I think they give a good look to the truck overall too. Held in place by three brackets on both the driver and the passenger side.

These things don't require any modification to get installed. It's just a bolt-on installation that utilizes existing factory holes. And the installation process is really straightforward so you can follow along with us and we'll show you how we got them installed. So we're gonna start our installation off on the ground. You can do driver or passenger side but on the driver's side you're gonna have three brackets that look like this.

And on the passenger side there's gonna be one bracket like this and two that are a little bit different using a two piece design. But for the most part, you're gonna use these and they all attach the same way. Underneath the truck there's gonna be a series of mounting tabs. In the instructions they say to look for five of them. Ours we only have four, so depending on the truck you have, the trim, the options that it's loaded with, it might look different to you. And your kit does include all the hardware necessary to install it regardless of what style you have. You just might find that for certain applications you don't use all of the hardware. For our installation today, we are using everything. So you'll see what that looks like. But for the most part, just look for these brackets and if you're confused at which mounting tab you'll use you can always take your running board, flip it upside down and look for the threaded holes underneath and actually line that up. They'll sit in line with all the mounting tabs we'll use but we'll take you underneath the truck and show you what they all look like. Now underneath the truck this is what those tabs are gonna look like. They're just factory holes. And like I mentioned, we've got four in total. So this is the first one closest to the front of the truck. We're gonna also utilize the second one. We'll skip the third one in our application and then we'll use the fourth one at the very back for our final bracket. So find those mounting tabs that you plan on using. Follow it straight up on the upper inside edge of the truck and you'll see a small hole right next to that there's going to be a plastic plug. Use a flat bladed screwdriver or a trim panel tool to pop that plug out. And there's going to be a larger hole there. We're gonna use these to get our hardware started as well as that mounting tab. So the hardware that we're going to be using are these two clip nuts. Those will go on the mounting tab and into that larger hole to create threaded locations for our bolts to secure our brackets. And for those bolts, your kit's gonna come with a ton of these M8 ones. Add a lock washer and a flat washer onto both and those will be the things that actually thread into these two holes on the bracket and into those clip nuts. We'll start by pushing those clip nuts into place making sure that the holes all line up. And then again feed it in through the larger hole and get it lined up with that smaller one right there. Our bracket is gonna sit over top of these and we'll take that hardware and get it threaded in. And just leave these pretty loose for now. We need them to be able to move around when we attach our running board but we'll go back through and tighten it down later. Just repeat this exact process for the other two brackets on the driver's side. And I did wanna point out we mentioned that the passenger side uses different brackets for two of the mounting locations. This is what that looks like. It's pretty much the same method for attaching it. The bracket just comes in two separate pieces and is joined up by a larger M10 bolt with lock washer and flat washer rather than just being a single piece bracket. Now we're ready to get the running board installed onto the brackets. Pretty straightforward, underneath there's two threaded holes for each bracket that's going to use two of the same bolts with hardware combination as we saw before. And then there's going to be a front and a back. So obviously we wanna see the ARIES and be able to read it, but the shorter section here where the foot pad meets the bracket is going to go towards the rear and on the front the foot pad and the longer section will go towards the front side of the truck. And worst case scenario you can always hold it up and make sure that all the mounting locations line up close enough because there is wiggle room left in these brackets. But take your hardware, get one started as you hold it up. Luckily it holds itself pretty well, so if you need to get underneath it and just kind of look at it to make sure things are lining up, you can. But it doesn't hurt to have an extra set of hands to help you out either. So we'll just go through, hand tighten all of this hardware for all six bolt locations underneath on the running board making sure to try to keep things level as we go. But we can always go back through with a level after and make sure everything's lining up before tightening anything further. Now at this point, if you want to grab a level you can but honestly there's not much point to it because everything is loose now. I'd go back through, tighten up the brackets onto the vehicle end and leave these bottom ones on the running board loose because really all the adjustment we're gonna get is this front to back movement. Just make sure that that step is level and once those are tightened and torqued down if you want to break the level out and check, you can. But you can eyeball it just the same. There's really not that much room for movement here. And once you're happy with it, again, just tighten those down and torque them to spec. Those can be found in your instructions. And once you have everything tightened and torqued down I always like to just kind of feel it by hand first make sure that nothing shifts around or moves on me, everything feels good there. And then of course, step on it, give it a test and see if anything moves there. These feel really solid overall though. You will get a little bit of flex when you stand on them, especially if you put your full weight on there and stand on it. That's completely normal with really any running boards you look at because it's only supported by those few brackets. But I'm not hearing any concerning noises. I feel very stable and everything's holding in place really well. And when I step off of it, everything's still level too.
