Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look at this Carr custom fit black powder coated aluminum super hoop step. Now this step has been specifically designed to fit your 1981 to 1996 Ford Bronco full size. And your 1981 to 1983 Ford F-100, 150, 250, and 350 crew cabs, regular cabs, and super cabs. Then your 1984 to 1991 Ford F-150, 250, 350 crew cabs, regular cabs, and super cabs. Then your 1995 to 1996 Ford F-150 regular cabs and super cabs.
And then finally you're 1992 to 1996 Ford F-250 and 350 crew cabs, regular cabs, and super cabs. So on custom fit parts such as this step, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide. Insert the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now this stylish step is going to help you get into and out of your forward with ease. The large flat step surface has non-slip, diamond tread, giving you excellent stability and this hoop style gives you a rugged off-road look.
Now lemme go ahead and retrieve my tape measure here just to try to give you some overall dimensions. So looking at the overall length, as you can see we're sitting pretty close to 20 inches here at the longest point. And then on that step platform, just measuring the actual area where you're gonna step, we're sitting right at 17 inches long. And then looking at the width of that platform, let's see if I can line that up for you so you can see. we are sitting right at five inches and this is going to give you a drop of about six inches.
And this step is made here in the USA of durable, rust-proof cast aluminum alloy construction. And that XP3 extreme black powder coat finish is gonna do a great job of resisting chipping, peeling, and fading. The lightly textured matte black appearance is gonna complement most applications. This does have a weight capacity of 500 pounds and the multi mount system is going to ensure a simple yet precise, stable fit on your Ford. And the mounting heads actually attached to your rocker panels and rotate for that perfect fit.
And they are constructed of zinc plated steel. You're gonna get all the hardware that you need to install this. They were kind enough to email me back with the information on the whereabouts of my super hoop steps. Following day it was here and I quickly went and installed them. Very easy and the i instructions were easy to follow. I love my super hoop steps and I got love for etrailer. I would totally recommend shopping with them or at least compare prices.

I wanted the Carr Super Hoops for my 2003 Chevy Express Van, but there was not a model listed for that application. I purchased the Model 124031 Carr Super Hoops since that model is the most versatile and includes the most varied hardware for the varied mounting applications.
Delivery was very timely as expected. Once received, the hardware seems of good quality and the black finish was just as I had hoped for.
I started by mounting 2 each 1” square tube spacers to the bottom of the existing Chevy foot well. The Chevy foot well turns out to be 2 thicknesses of body sheet metal with a stiffening ridge formed on the topside of the foot well (under the removable plastic foot well liner). I then thru bolted a 6”x24”x ¼” aluminum plate (6061,T6) thru those spacers to the bottom of the foot well with ¼” bolts. I was then able to mount each of the supplied Carr brackets to the bottom of the aluminum plate with 1, ¼” bolt and 1, #10-24 machine screw. The smaller (weaker) machine screws are expected to break if the hoop is hit from below by road debris or rocks.
Note that this installation leaves either the hoop frame to close to the ground, or the step surface angled significantly off of the desired horizontal. Therefore, I had to make some “treads” to mount on the step surface of the hoop frame. I chose to make these “treads” out of wood first to make sure I could make them work and look nice.
The new “treads” were successfully made on a table saw from a pine 2x6 and ended up being acceptably “level”. This installation left a shade over 10” of ground clearance below the bottom of the hoop frames (standard curbs seem to be between 8” and 9”). Now that I know how to make the “treads”, I plan to make a pair from some UV stabilized black plastic to replace the wooden prototypes.
If I were doing this over again, I could have just bought the cheapest model with the needed brackets. I was not able to use any of the extra hardware beyond the hoops and brackets themselves.
This installation makes entry and exit from the van much easier for my wife and I as well as our aging friends. I just didn’t care for the appearance of the full length running board systems.
It was a great heavy duty product. We didn't install them because was needing them lower than what the mounting area would allow. Our Mother is 80 and we were trying to make it easier for her to get into their Ford pickup.
Ordered these as a replacement for old ones.
One broke and the other lost most of the coating. Since those came with the truck I could not warranty.
New ones fit like a glove since I had the old brackets, 8 bolts and nuts and we're good to go!
Hopefully these will last another 8 years, if not I see the manufacturer has a lifetime warranty on them anyways.

I installed these on my full sized '90 Bronco. They are great. Very sturdy. Long enough for the person in the back to get in and out of
Mine still look brand new after a year because they are still sitting in the box. Although the application included my vehicle, apparently you have to remove the body from the frame in order to drill the necessary holes in the narrow clearance areas. I might have liked the product if I could have installed it but that never happened.
I received the Carr steps with the wrong attachments. No problem, the correct attachment was shipped and I should have them installed soon.
My 4x4 truck sits fairly high and these steps are just the ticket. Installation could not be easier. Drill four holes on the back of each rocker and bolt them on. The mounting brackets are plated and heavy guage. You will be supplied with more than enough hardware for installation. Included instructions are clear and concise, but really, this job doesn't require a degree in engineering!

We have ordered 3 items from ETrailer, a Spare tire carrier, a 60" ladder, and a set of running boards all for our camper. We were able to install all products, and very happy with them. Oh, by the way, I am legally blind and with a little help from my wife we were very proud each time we completed an installation. The customer service was excellent, and delivery was quick.

Easy to follow instructions. Nice looking. Easy to install with basic tools. I think the manufacture could have come up with a more solid mounting option. The brackets are bolted to the vehicle rocker panel at two points. The lower point is on the pinch weld. There is very little material at this location and it gets the most abuse from the environment, especially salt related corrosion. With time, this area will be compromised. The upper attachment point is with a sheet metal screw in the back of the rocker panel. A very weak attachment. I imaging many step bars use similar mounting.
I installed these on a 1965 Chevy C10 pickup. The only thing that I had to do different than what is shown on the install video is, I modified the galv. brackets. I removed the small bottom bent tap. The bracket then fit perfect on the lower edge of the inner rocker panel. This is a 1 owner truck on its second restore, so you can guess my age. These make it really easy to get in and out of the old truck. I have looked for these for along time. Thanks etrailer for carrying them.
These are sturdy and look great. My only complaint is I have to tighten them up every few months because they loosen. If it weren't for this, they'd get 5 stars.

The mounting instructions did not explain the mounting brackets very well. Could of made them wider than it would fit pre drilled holes. otherwise they fit and work real good and look great.
