Video Transcript for WeatherTech No-Drill Digital Fit Mud Flaps Installation - 2023 Ford F-150

Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install these no-drill mud flaps from WeatherTech for the rear of our 2023 Ford F-150. Now, these are gonna be custom fit for your F-150, and at the rear we can see that particularly well with this small plastic bump out right here. The mud flap will contour around that shape and match up perfectly to the vehicle where it sits. On the inside, the installation, like the name suggests, is going to be no-drill.

Basically, you don't have to worry about any modifications to your vehicle, and the material is going to be a thermoplastic resin. It's a bit more of a rigid material but still has some flex to it and it's gonna match all the black plastics on your vehicle really well. Now, with this being a no-drill installation, you probably want to see what that install looks like. Luckily, these are really straightforward and since we have so much room to work inside the wheel well on the rear, it's gonna be super straightforward. So, follow along and we'll show you how we got these installed.

On the inside of the flap, there should be some lettering that says RH or LH, right hand for passenger, left hand for driver, or worst case scenario, you can just take the mud flap and line it up inside your wheel well and make sure the contours all line up. For the rear, we just have two push pin fasteners. You can see them poking out the other side inside the wheel well liner here, and these are not gonna get reused, so grab yourself a trim tool, something with like a forked end. Flathead screwdriver can work here, but these are pretty tricky and you might find that you have a little bit of trouble getting them out, but if you mangle them in the process, since they're not getting reused, that's okay. (parts click) So that bottom one was giving us some trouble.

These fins, especially when the clips are brand new, can be really tricky. What I found was squeezing them and just kind of crushing those fins made it a lot easier to pop out the bottom side. You might consider doing that, and especially since they're so easy to reach in that wheel well, it's not too bad. Now on this intersection right here where the mud flap will end up sitting once it's fully installed, your kit's gonna come with a small bit of paint protection film. I'm just gonna spray off the area with some soapy water, kind of wipe it down, dry it off.

Now, these will also have a right hand and a left hand side and just do your best to get this right up to the edge and press it firmly in place. This doesn't need to be super precise. You can get really precise with it if you want, but really, this is just gonna be covered up by the mud flap anyway. We just wanted to protect paint of it. The mud flap is gonna have this small quarter turn lever. Make sure that's flipped down for right now and line up the mud flap with that wheel well. You're gonna take your included Allen key and turn that lever by tightening the screw and you should see a small tab right about there. You want that all the way to the right to know that that lever is fully engaged. And I'm gonna tighten this down just a little more so that we can hopefully let go of the flap and it'll hold itself in place so we can get the rest of our hardware in. The newly provided hardware will be a bit hard to see with my hands in the way, but it's essentially a Phillips-head screw with a flat washer and a flange nut paired up together going through the previous locations where those plastic push pin fasteners were. I'll push that bottom one up first and tighten the flange nut up top. And the reason we're doing this first is because once we have that screw poking through the side, it's gonna kind of cover that up so it's gonna be pretty much impossible to tighten it. So, get it hand tight for now and come back with my tools to fully snug it down. They include a Phillips-head bit, so something to hold that bit will be needed. You may need to provide that yourself and the same goes for a wrench or socket. We're using a 7/16 wrench today. (wrench whirs) and it'll repeat that process for the hole going through the side or both holes if our F-150 or your F-150 has that. Now, if you find that the hole isn't lining up super well, you might just find that threading the bolt through works, in which case then we can just carry on by tightening up the rest of the hardware. Once you have that tightened down, just go back through and make sure that nothing feels loose. Everything's lined up pretty well, and if you're happy with the fit, you can repeat that process on the other side. But that'll do it for our look at and installation of the rear no-drill mud flaps from WeatherTech on our 2023 Ford F-150. Thanks for watching.

I tried them on the pick-up, fit ok but haven't been on the road. No reason to think they won't work as they should.

I am very disappointed with the Weather Tech mudflaps, not because it took forever for them to be delivered (though it did -I was not told by e-trailer that they weren't in stock the day I ordered them), but by the fact when they were finally delivered, they were missing instructions (front mudflaps) and parts (rear mudflap was missing the center screw to the lock; the lock was found loose in the bag. I had to go to home depot to try and find the errant screw - i was not about to send them back and wait some more).
I have a lot of weather tech products on all 4 of our cars as well as full front and rear mats in the truck, and have never had a problem like this before. Both irritating, disappointing and requiring an additional cost of money and time to rectify).
The etrailer packing was excellent, and once i collected all the necessary parts / instructions and figured out how to re-assemble the loose lock, the installation proceeded in an orderly manner though taking longer than anticipated based upon the etrailer video. The quality of the actual flaps looks to be excellent and they look good on the truck. If there had been some visible quality control initially upon opening the packages, I would have given them 5 stars. Unfortunately that is not how it played out.

Super easy to install and it took about half an hour. Look good after a year and are still solid. Id buy them again.

Did not fit well on the 2022 Dodge Ram 3500. The rear flaps did not quite fit the OEM fender flares on the vehicle. Too tight - not enough clearance to sit nicely against the flares. There was also no hole for the trim fastener so had to drill a 1/4" hole for little plastic fastener - not a big deal. Hoping the front ones fit better, but they were worse. Same story - the "digital fit" flaps did not fit the OEM fender flares. Tried a heat gun to hopefully warm the flap and maybe get them to fit together better, but couldn't quite get it. I'll need to get some longer fasteners, otherwise one bolt and the little plastic tab are all thats holding it on. Maybe if the weather warms a bit...? Def not as advertised.

by:

Just like the description says...easy install, no drill, digital fit. Looks like they came with the truck. Highly recommend.

by:

Mud flaps were easy to install and fit great on my 2023 Tundra Hybrid Max

by:

Look great! Look OEM. Wish all the hardware was black. And in the front the two screws you pull out both sides, trash go get something a little longer and more girth. etrailer was great the arrived earlier then expected.

by:

Well designed and fit just right. Look great and seem to be made from durable material. Installation was straight forward and easy.

by:

Fantastic product. Very easy installation. High quality. Very fast delivery! Etrailer is the best as always!

by:

holes did not line up with pre existing holes on car
for installation. Very hard
to install. will NOT buy weathertec again

by:

These mud flaps are great! Good Instructions and install went quickly. They look really good and should perform well, protecting the rocker panels and the side steps from mud and stones. Very pricey but good quality. Front Pair.

by:

This is a good investment. First, etrailer is a great place to get what you need for supplies! The weathertech mud flaps are a great addition to a raised F-250 with larger tires that pulls. This will provide the rest of the protection I need as well as cut down on debris that the tires throw up at other cars/trucks. Very easy to install and if I want to remove them then I have all the pieces necessary except for the push grommets which I can get anywhere. I think I will leave them on for a while....not bad looking either.

by:

For someone who is "old school" and reluctant to install plastic onto a machine, I'm impressed with the ease of installation and durability so far. I've put about 7500 miles on them without an issue. And thanks to Etrailer for carrying great products and providing great info to consumers. You folks have a great Business model!

by:

Delivered timely and installed easily. Great product.

by:

Took a little effort to get it to match up with the plastic wheel well fender flares but once I did I have not had any issues. Looks somewhat subtle but is pretty effective at stopping thrown debris onto the paint.

by:

I was apprehensive about buying these as the weather tech company said they would not fit. My vehicle has power running boards and 22” wheels..I researched forums and took a chance. They fit…no problem. See attached photos and video.
Thanks

Great service item was shipped and received quickly. Mud flaps were easy to install.

by:

I ordered Weather Tech mud flaps for my GMC Sierra 1500. The front flaps were easy to install by using existing fasteners installed on the truck by GMC. The rear flaps were slightly more challenging requiring the placement of clamps (integral to the flaps) on the rear fender. The entire installation of all flaps required about 45 minutes. they look great and they will protect my fenders from being damaged by road debris.

by:

Great product, easy to install, I didn't find the instructions, but was easy to figure out. I would recommend this product
