Today we're going to be taking a look at part number AUT-USMC1-C. This is the US Marine Corps Seal Trailer Hitch Cover. It's going to feature the official seal of the United States Marine Corps. T The hitch cover is designed to slide into your hitch receiver. It's going to help keep out dirt which is going to prevent rust and corrosion to the hitch and it's going to add a nice clean finished look to your hitch. We going to have the full colored decal.
It's going to be outlined in a nice gold finished ABS plastic and the image itself has a nice vinyl coating so it's going to protect the decal from fading and chipping. It's going to protect it from water, chemicals and UV rays. That decal's going to sit on a polished, stainless steel base so it's going to give that mirror like shine. It's also going to resist rush and corrosion. This is a one piece riveted construction so it does not require any assembly. It's ready to be installed on your hitch right out of the box.
The shank is going to be stainless steel as well. Now the only thing that you're going to need, that's sold separately, is going to be a hitch pin and clip or a hitch pin and lock. You can find those items here on our website if you don't already have one. You see back here that the hitch cover is going to offer three pin hole locations to choose from. You can choose whatever one is going to work best for your application. Again, this is designed for 2" by 2" trailer hitch receivers. The shank length measuring from the back of the face plate to the end of the shank, it's going to be about 3 1/2".
To the center of that first pinhole, we're looking at about 1 5/8". To the center of the middle pinhole, we're looking at about 2 1/8". Then to the center of the rear pinhole, we're looking at about 2 5/8". The face plate is going to give us a diameter of about 4". Really simple installation. You place this portion into the receiver opening of your hitch.
You're going to push it in until you get your pinholes to line up with one another, then you install a hitch pin and clip or hitch pin and lock. The unit's going to be covered with a lifetime warranty and it's made right here in the USA. That's going to do it for today's look at part number AUT-USMC1-C.

When you look at back of SUV, it really stands out - not tacky but distinguished. We will see how it holds up with snow & salt, altho I scoured other reviews about corrosion resistance before I ordered, so I think this will hold up to that kind of weather.
Also agonized after reading reviews about rattling & whether it would fit with standard 2" receiver and what kind of lock to buy. My concern was that my hitch receiver was a 2" square tube with welds on the very end that flared out on the sides like "wings." I did not understand how the metal prongs of the cover would fit outside and how the whole assembly would fit with a lock. I also did not have the auto available to measure diameter, full width, etc, and just took a chance to order standard 2" stuff.
Well, the metal prongs of the cover fit inside (not on the outside -so no interference with the "weld wings" on the end of the receiver) and they fit into the hitch receiver walls snugly. Also my receiver has hard plastic on the end, and there is about 1/8" space between cover & hitch, so no rattles. (The other receiver cover I ordered (OU) came with a rubber spacer which was good to have for my other SUV with only metal receiver.)
The 2" stainless steel (flush) 5/8" diameter hitch receiver lock 40107 works great - right dia, and length - as I need to have a little room to get my hands between bumper & recessed opening "cut out" for the trailer hitch. Any longer would have been difficult to handle the keys in the lock. Very little play and only heard rattle once when going over speed bump too fast/landed too hard. (oops - good thing that was in hubby's car!)
My husband was really pleased with the trailer hitch cover. He is very proud that he served in the marine corp. The order number was 110546157. It would be great if I could find him the same emblem for his antenna. Any Ideas?

Excellent choice! Compliments my truck nicely. This is actually the second time I have bought this same hitch cover. You know it has to be good to buy it twice!
I purchased this a year ago. The cutouts allow for multiple insert depths and optimal mounting variations. I was concerned about a vibration between the insert and receiver so I installed a rubber seal between the two that allowed for a firm connection and no rattles. No rust or fading (Midwest location) so it has been thru all of the seasons and salt looking good.
I was very pleased with the hitch. Looks really nice on my Ford Ranger. !st class quality. Arrived as scheduled.

Still looks as good as the day I bought it
