Video Transcript for Review of Performance Tool Tools - 3/8 Inch Ratchet Drive - PTW38106

Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Performance Tool's three quarter inch ratchet drive. So this is a handy tool to have to tighten any kind of bolts down on your equipment, maybe on the anti-rattle bolt for your bike rack or your cargo carrier. It's just going to be a simple turn to go from loosen to tighten, and it should allow you to get those things off and on pretty quickly. Now, this is a tool that's nice to have for all kinds of things. You can use it with your socket wrenches or your sockets, to be able to make that a lot easier. A lot of those bike racks will come with a tool, but it's usually a flat piece of metal.

It's just not very comfortable for your hand and it also doesn't ratchet so it takes a bit longer.I will say, though, this is really not something that you would want to put in your tool kit for everyday use. If you're going to use this a lot, day in and day out, it's going to wear out. It's not really meant for continued daily use. It's just kind of for occasional use to make things a little bit easier. So let's take a closer look at it. It's a pretty nice slim design so it should fit pretty easily in your trunk or a storage compartment, if you're going to keep it with you.

Measures about eight inches long from end to end. The drive portion is about an inch and a quarter in diameter. So it shouldn't take up too much space. But again, just in my experience with using this, we try to use it every day on our test fitting equipment and put it through the paces and it after a while kind of wore out. But I think if you're just going to be using this kind of as a backup tool for tightening down that anti-rattle bolt every so often, it makes a great addition to your kit, just to have something that's a lot easier than the tool that comes with your bike rack or your cargo carrier. It's made out of polished nickel chrome plate so it should be pretty resistant to any kind of rust or corrosion.

There are 41 gear teeth, so it should get a pretty good bite. You shouldn't have to do too many swings to get things on or off. A little detent there holds the socket in place and lets you take it on and off. So there's no button to press to release the socket, to get it on and off there. All in all, a pretty handy tool, especially if you're just going to be using it occasionally for those hitch mounted accessories or anything else that might need to get tightened down every so often. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right tool.

We do have a lot of other accessories for your vehicle here at etrailer.com so check them out. Thanks for watching.
