Curt Double Lock Gooseneck Hitch Operation

Curt Double Lock Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Operation

The Curt Double Lock underbed gooseneck trailer hitch provides a sturdy, secure connection for towing your gooseneck trailer and also allows for a clean, unobtrusive look for your truck bed when you aren't towing. To tow, simply pull the included handle out to unlock the hitch. Then insert the chrome-plated hitch ball into the ball hole. You may need to rotate the ball to line it up with the dual locking pins. When the ball drops into place, rotate the handle counterclockwise until the locking pins snap into position. Because there are 2 locking pins instead of 1, you get extra security for your towing setup.

Get full bed access when you're not towing. Just remove the ball, flip it upside down, drop it back into the ball hole of the hitch, and use the handle to lock the ball in place. A rubber cover is included with the Double Lock. When the ball is stowed upside down in the hitch, place this cover over the ball hole to keep out dirt and grime and create a clean look for your vehicle.

Got this for our new camper last year. Did the installation myself with a few buddies very straight forward directions. We use a Reese goose box with the curt 4” off set ball on our 08 short bed truck! Would definitely recommend

2005 GMC Sierra

Great product and perfect fit for my 2005 GMC Sierra duramax. I just purchased a Montana fifth wheel and wanted to still be able to use the bed of the truck without taking a heavy hitch in and out and breaking my back. The hitch arrived really fast and the boxes were in pretty good shape and I was only missing one washer from a torn parts bag. I was able to install the hitch that weekend with help of the directions and how to YouTube video. The only issue I had was that the video stated the crossbar with the notch went to the rear while the directions showed it going to the front. It definitely goes to the front and was pretty obvious when installing it. I didn’t have any real issues with the install and it looks great and hides away nicely leaving a clean flat bed. I look forward to hauling my fifth wheel real soon.

In order to tow your fifth wheel trailer with your new gooseneck hitch, youll need an adapter of some sort. If you use the provided link, you can see the various options available.

Great addition to my towing needs. I have taken the hitch out many times and it has always performed well.

by:

Fist I should say that this does seem beefy and I expect it will work fine for towing my 5th wheel. This was the most difficult installation I've ever experienced due to poor design, & poor workmanship. They clearly saved every penny they could by using low quality machining. This thing took me 3 days of cussing Curt. This is my 2nd Curt product and the first was similar, but not as bad as this. I willnever buy another Curt product.

by:

I ordered the curt gooseneck for my 2005 duramax mainly because I want to get me a bigger goose neck trailer to be able to make a camper/ toy hauler combo plus I can haul a dump trailer and campers with out borrowing a truck now . Anywho strainers website has tons of info so I could make the purchase knowing it will be what I needed. The hitch arrived really fast boxes were in great shape, and a week later I finally got the chance to install the directions and how to video made it really simple I didn’t have any issues with the install and it looks great and hides away nice I will be hauling with it really soon

This is fantastic used b&w and is just as good at cheaper cost

This hitch looks really beefy! I was really impressed with every aspect of this purchase, starting with the easily navigable website, helpful staff (Korren), speedy delivery and quality product. I will have to make sure that all the nuts and bolts are there because the bag was busted open a little and so was the box it was in. I will let you know, but I would not hesitate to shop etrailer again.

I use the gooseneck hitch alot and am very happy with it. Ive had no problems with it.

After a quick reminder from Etrailer, and one year of installation of this hitch, a quick note on it's functionality. I'll say that after decades of using a traditional 5th wheel hitch setup, this has been an absolute great move. I also moved away from the traditional 5th plate hookup, and went with the Ultimate Hitch because of the ease of installation and removal of the hitch. 35 lbs .. and no strained back putting it in or out.

These two moves have been the best move for hauling my trailer AND having the bed of my truck available for daily use. Solid hookup!

A Year and ... I still stand by my original posting regarding these two products! I will say that before every trip, I double check the torque on all connecting points. Its a must do for both safety reasons and peace of mind while traveling. On occasion, the coupling front pair of set screws set @ 40ftlbs on the coupling portion of the Ultimate Hitch have loosened from their 40 ftlb setting. A quick check and never more than a small pull of the torque wrench and were back in business. Weve pulled many setups since 2006, and this setup is, in my opinion, still the best and most comfortable pulling experience weve ever had while pulling our 5th. Happy hauling and camping!

2004 Chevrolet Silverado

My Curt gooseneck hitch is absolutely the best on the market. It was easy to install. We did have the bed off for frame cleaning on my 2004 Chevy Silverado. I had a fold down ball originally in the bed. It froze up 6 months after installing. I love the turn over Curt ball hitch. I did have to purchase from etrailer also a 6 inch offset because my Eby Horse trailer has a square front. I would purchase from etrailer again.

2000 Chevrolet Silverado

the 5 stars are for etrailer.com ! I will have to give the product just 4 for a couple reasons. quality was great, everything went according to plan, except ! they make a slight mention in the instructions to make sure to clean out the threads in the side rails. YOU HAD BETTER, run a 1/2 tap in all the holes in the side rails before starting installation . if you don't, you will really wish you had. also the instructions called for a 44 1/4 measurement from the end of the bed box on the short bed truck. 44 " would have been perfect on mine, the 44 1/4 was a little off.
but 5 stars for etrailer, fast shipping, great service.

Installation was fairly painless. I have been pulling with this hitch fairly frequently and normally for long distances when I do. I have never had issues with fasteners coming loose or he ball getting loose in the socket. The only issue I have had with the hitch was the ball getting stuck in the stored position.

Etrailer Expert

Thank you for your review. I have contacted Curt about the gooseneck ball getting stuck in the stored posistion. They suggest to go underneath the truck and to clean and apply liberal amounts of lubricant on all of the moving parts of the underside of the gooseneck hitch. Try to pull the lever to free the ball. If the ball comes free make sure to clean the cavity where the ball is stored. This cavity can become full of dirt and grime which can cause the ball to become stuck. If you are still not able to free the ball, then you can also unscrew the chrome ring from the top of the hitch and remove the ball. Then make sure the cavity and the ball is properly lubricated with a grease such as part #L10337 before reinstalling the ball.

To start I really appreciate ETrailer’s customer service and their help correcting any issues.

With that said the initial order had some issues. I received 1 of 2 boxes fast and in tact. At the time I didn’t know there were 2 boxes so it sat until I was going to install and realized i was missing the rail installation kit. I wasn’t forewarned at any point during or after shipment of the first box that there was an issue with the second box (damaged, not picked up by ups). Once realized I call customer service and they remedied the situation very quickly.

The second box came quick, made it to me in 3 days, but was heavily damaged. I thought for sure there was going to be missing items. After doing a quick inventory I was only short 2 lock washers that I can pick up at the hardware store. This could have caused some serious issues as I have a important job coming up and this would have caused me to start late and as most know time is money.

I hope ETrailer understands the potential issues these carriers could cause it’s great customer base. I’ve read a good amount of reviews and see this issue come up too often.

5 start customer service. Maybe packaging could be a bit more robust to mitigate this sort of thing.

I had to leave town just before this was delivered, but my daughter told me that the shipper brought it into the house for her, as it was very heavy, and shipped in one package. I'll be gone for a month, so I'm anxious to get it installed when I return home. After watching the videos on etrailer's website, I'm confident it will be straightforward if not easy.

Since installing the hitch Ive used it for up to a 24 horse trailer, full of horses. No problems, the ball still slides in and out easily hasnt rusted in place, the release lever still functions great, all systems go!

2002 GMC Sierra

I usually have nothing but great things to say about etrailer. And one box showed up great. The other had been opened taped shut dropped, kicked the condition of the box prompted me to take inventory of the hardware. I was missing 1 bolt and a handful of washers. A quick trip to the hardware store will have it fixed up but it was disappointing nonetheless.

Still working fine after a year.

by:

Took me the better part of a day to install only because I cleaned and painted the frame where it was being attached. It works great, I use it to haul a gooseneck equipment trailer with a 10,000 lb excavator. The ability to flip the ball gives you full use of the bed when not hauling. Was a smart purchase in my opinion

by:

Hitch works really well. I installed it myself with the help of my son. I have had many B&W hitches which I really like also. I think so far the Curt is comparable in many ways. I really like the double locking pin. I would not hesitate to buy this hitch again.

by:

I installed the Curt Goose Ball hitch in my 2001 Chevy Silverado. It works great and I pulled a 36 ft. Fifth Wheel over 4500 miles last summer I did not install it myself as you really need a hoist and I was not going to block the pickup up, you are working under the pickup thru the rear fender wells and inside the bed. A Great product and a reasonable price.

by:
2001 Chevrolet Silverado

Easy to install, especially after watching the installation video. Hitch works great with no issues! The flush mount design to the bed allows me to remove the ball and use the space for other cargo without a "bulge" in the center of the bed. I am very happy with the hitch and would suggest it to others!

by:

Gooseneck hitch for Silverado was delivered quickly but not inside the 2 day rush I paid for. As usual, a box was damaged and torn but nothing was missing. etrailer had the best price AND they have good videos on installation. The Curt hitch fit well and is well made. Follow the tips and run a tap through all the threaded holes BEFORE you get Midway in the job and find some difficult to get started while you are twisted around under the truck.

This is the second Curt gooseneck hitch I've purchased from Etrailer. One for a '15 Chevy 3500 and one for an '05 Chevy 2500. Both arrived in 3-4 days. Both installations went very well. I'm very satisfied with the service and the quality of the hitches and installation kits. Good job, Thanks Guys!

Great product put my under bed 5th wheel hitch in about an hour and a half. The directions could be a lot better. But it was delivered early in great shape and works awesome I will be buying more products from this company hands down the best company to deal with Michelle s was a great lady to deal with up front and honest and takes the extra steps. Thanks etrailer

2009 Chevrolet Silverado

After watching the etrailer installation video on youtube, I decided I could install this hitch on my own. As a first timer I was able to install this hitch and am very pleased with the result. I like the double lock and the turn over ball. When I'm not pulling my horse trailer, the ball will turn over freeing the bed for other uses.

I did have questions during the installation and found the people at customer services to be extremely helpful. Especially Paula and Sammie.

by:

Hitch is well built & installation was pretty easy (good directions included). If you have a spray on liner, don't add the recommended 1/4 inch unless your liner is that thick on back as well as on top. Hitch will still fit but won't trim out as nice. Definitely a 5 star value & etrailer did everything as advertised on their end!

  • Gooseneck Hitch Kit for 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The Curt Double Lock, Flip and Store Underbed Gooseneck Hitch # C60712 is designed to fit your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with either 6-1/2' or 8' beds. It will not fit if you have a Flareside or Stepside bed. The kit includes all brackets to install and a 2-5/16" gooseneck ball. I do recommend a Wiring Harness # 41157 to mount an additional 7-way receptacle inside your bed. This will ensure that you aren't damaging your cord by stretching it to the bumper connection.
