Video Transcript for WeatherTech HP Front Floor Mats Review

What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna check out the WeatherTech floor mats for your front seat. It's gonna be the HP liner. So these are gonna be made out of a thermal plastic. So they're not as rigid as the other WeatherTech ones.

This one can bend a little bit more but they're more heavy duty. They're just heavier in general and are more aggressive. When they sit up there in the front seat they have a better grab. You can get this in grey, tan, cocoa or black to match your vehicle's interior. Another nice thing about this, is the coverage heregoes all the way up and underneath the pedals.

So you don't have to worry about the floor mat stopping right here, to where if you we're to push the pedals with muddy or dirty shoes, you could still get some on the carpet back there. This goes up, well up and beyond there. So it just helps with that protection. Plus, you know, if you do have muddy or wet shoes, most of it was gonna come right down in here anyway. So that way, just in case there's a lot of it already in there and didn't drain all the way to the reservoir.

It's gonna pull up here but you still have plenty of coverage so it won't just slosh out onto the front. So one thing to point out to you, is it has far better coverage than some of those OEM mats or the carpet ones since it comes all the way over the edge here. You can see how much overhang there is. One thing to look out for though, is this part sticks up just a little bit. Now when it warms up and fits more in the front of your vehicle, it could go down a little bit but we do see that some people, mainly with trucks, hopping there with their boots and they might clip that but it's not enough to make it pop a little bit out of place so that's nice.

In this vehicle, it's not really in the way because we've got the seat in the furthest back position. If it was up a little more, the seat's gonna cover that. So getting in there, you're not gonna snap that part. Another thing with that corner that sticks up it's still low enough so it doesn't get caught in the door. So I'll shut the door and show you. There's no interference there. So I'm gonna pour some water here just to see where it goes. So if this would be more for, you know, if you had snow on your boots and it melted there'd be a little bit up there. You can see how it does come down into the reservoir. Now let's do it, if we just poured a drink. I'm gonna pour a lot of water on here. I'll go up to the top. It looks like it flows pretty well, down into the reservoir. You see this little part even there as we watch it, it is transferring down through these, to the reservoir. So that actually works better than the other WeatherTechs. Those have a plastic core with a rubberized finish. So, when we poured water on those, it kind of just stayed pulled up by the driver's pedal. But you see there's a little puddle there right now. But it didn't transfer as much to the reservoir. So this was kind of nice because of, I guess how this is and how heavier duty it is. It came down in here and used these channels to fill the reservoir. So we still have a little bit of puddle there but that is not as much as there was on the other one. So they actually do a really good job. Now I'm gonna pop this out and try not to spill any of the water, because if it is this much of a mess, you're gonna have to do this too. So let's check out how easy it is to un-pop this and move it. So I'm gonna be careful, here at the bottom, popping these snaps out, and you see it just moving. It makes that water change directions. So that, tilt it more towards the center here. Pop this up. Alright, so I got it here trying to balance it and just dump out the water. I wanna show you the support structure here on the HP one. You see it goes all the way up the mat and that's what helps it keeps it form. So this is what made it, so that the water came down to the reservoir because it's got that support structure underneath, holding it up. Now I've got my boots kind of muddy and we're gonna test it out on the mat. You can see, I guess they're not as muddy as I thought but it's still a little bit is coming off. And that's actually another thing that the grooves are good for is, helping you scrape the mud off your boots so you don't get it on the interior or even leave the vehicle with it. So you can kind of get a little bit of it off this way before you put your foot on the pedal. If you getting our floor mat muddy we're gonna see how easy it is to clean it up. So we got the hose here, gonna spray it off. See most of it comes off on its own. I don't need to brush it or anything. We got one rock that might be stuck in the groove there. Oh, there it goes. This is the other WeatherTech liner we referenced earlier. So this one's got a plastic core with a rubberized finish. You can see how it holds itself up, better than the current HP ones we have. But that also makes it more rigid. This is the one, where we said that the water kind of stayed here and never made it down to the reservoir. It's also not as aggressive back here. It still has those pop in points here and here. So that's gonna keep it in place but it still moves just a little bit cause it doesn't have those knives grabbing into the carpet. And then another thing would be, it has an aggressive logo here that some people didn't like. It kinda sticks out quite a bit. So this is gonna be your other option with WeatherTheck floor mats. It still does a good job but I kind of like the HP ones better, honestly. Overall I really like the HP liner. We are able to do the ones with a plastic core earlier today. And after doing this one, I kind of like these better. Like I said before, I just like how they're little more heavier material. I like the way the liquid flowed to the reservoir quite a bit more. And I just like that that doesn't have that logo here too. It just kind of sticks, matches the inside of the vehicle and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb or anything like that. So I think I like these better and I think they're gonna look good on your vehicle too. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..
