Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.
Features:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the carpeting and the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4 Pole 00:00:06 Flat Trailer Connector. This product fits certain years and models of the Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6. It's going to provide your 4 way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5 pole, 6 pole, and 7 pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately and it's going to come with a dust cap for the full reflect 00:00:25 connector. That way you can cover up the connection points when the plug's not being used. It's also going to feature protective connector terminals to resist corrosion and last a long time.
It's going to include your powered tail light converter. This is going to connect directly to the vehicle battery to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. It's also going to insure that the wiring on the vehicle matches that of the trailers. Really nice design. Included it's already pre-wired in.
This is designed to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. All you'll need to do is locate the connection points behind the tail lights. The connector's with the green wiring, that's going to go on the passenger side of the vehicle. The connectors with the yellow wiring's going to go to the driver's side. These connectors are custom fit for your vehicle, so they match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle.
They push together and they snap lock together for a nice tight secure fit. Once you have those connected, you'll need to mount the converter box. You want to get that mounted to an out of the way location with the included cable ties. Then, you'll need to make a ground connection. That's going to be your white wire with a ring terminal already attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a nice clean metal surface with the including grounding screw. Once you have that done, you can run the hot lead to the vehicle battery.
That's going to be the short red wire coming out of the converter box. It's got a yellow butt connector attached to it. This is going to get connected to one end of the bundle of red wire. The other end of the red wiring goes to the vehicle battery. Gets connected to one half of the fuse holder here at the butt connector and then the other half of the fuse holder gets connected to the positive post of the vehicle battery. It does come with your 20 amp fuse. It goes directly in the fuse holder and then we got that fuse cap that goes over to keep that safe and protected. Once you have that done, you can secure any excess or slack in the wiring with the included cable ties. These are provided with the kit. Once your installation is complete the 4 way connectors are going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We do recommend using a mounting bracket to help keep the connector secure. Mounting brackets are sold separately. If you're in need of one, you can check out some options here at etrailer.com. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of grease in all your electrical connections like the plugs here on the vehicle and the 4 pole connector itself. The grease is going to help prevent corrosion to the connection points and the grease packet it included with the kit. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4 Pole Flat Trailer Connector.
