Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness, with the 4-pole flat trailer connector. This product fits a 2006 to 2011 Chevrolet HHR; 2005 to 2006 Pontiac Pursuit 2-door; 2005 to 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Coupe; 2007 to 2009 G5 Coupe; the 2007 to 2010 Pontiac G5 Pursuit Coupe. It's going to provide a 4-way flat connector at the back of the vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters, so adapters are sold separately. It does come with a dust cap for the 4 way flat connector, that way you can cover up the connection points when your plug's not being used. Simply just fits over there. Really nice design. The unit's also going to feature the protective connection terminals that are designed to resist rust and corrosion. Now this is going to connect quickly and easily, you don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires, it's also going to come with detailed installation instructions.

But basically what you'll need to do is locate your connection points in the rear cargo area, and plug in your connectors. You're going to have 2 sets of connectors that you need to get connected; one set's going to go to the passenger side of the vehicle, the other set's going to go to the driver's side. These are custom fit, so they're going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle and they're going to snap-lock together for a nice tight secure fit. Once you have those connected, you'll need to make a ground connection, that's your white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded at a nice, clean, metal 00:01:30 location with the included grounding screw. Then you can secure any excess or slack in the wiring with the cable ties or ny-ties that are provided with the kit. Once your installation's complete, the 4 way connector's going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch.

A mounting bracket is recommended to keep the connector secure. Mounting brackets are sold separately, so you can check out some options here at etrailer.com if you're interested or in need of one. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of grease in all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4 pole connector itself. The grease is going to help prevent corrosion and they do include a terminal grease packet with this kit.
