Specs:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold and some interior lining to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Today we're going to review part number HM11140464. This is the Hopkins plug-in vehicle-specific wiring harness with the 4-pole trailer connector. This is a custom fit part number so it is designed to fit the Ford Fiesta starting in 2014. Now this is a plug-in wiring harness that will provide a no-hassle, quick and easy way to install this 4-pole connector on your tow vehicle. This 4-pole connector will then plug into the 4-pole on your trailer and provide power for the lights on your trailer. This plug-in custom wiring kit will utilize the pre-wired factory OEM connectors to give you a water-tight protection, a guaranteed fit, and easy installation. Just plugs into the rear of your taillights. Now there is no cutting or splicing required.
Now on the 4-pole connector itself, it does use the corrosion-resistant terminals and it has a nice rubber dust cap that when you're not using it you can just put the cap over it just like that and that will help protect it from the elements. Now this part includes everything shown here on the table. It includes this powered converter module with all the wires and connectors attached to it. It includes this length of 14-gauge wire. This is used to connect to your vehicle's battery to supply power to this module. Comes with this fuse assembly that you would attach to this power wire before you attach it to your battery, and the 15-amp fuse that goes in it. Comes with a grounding screw that is used to ground the white wire.
Comes with some cable ties here which can be used to take up any slack when you run this wire. It also comes with the dielectric grease packet here. That grease you can put onto your 4-pole connector when you go to attach the trailer connector to it. Now basically this powered converter module right here will adapt the vehicle's wiring system to work with the trailer. It will safeguard the vehicle's wiring system by pulling power for the trailer lights directly from the vehicle's battery. You'll hook this wire up the vehicle's battery so it doesn't go through the existing electrical system of your tow vehicle - so it protects that. Basically when you go to install this you'll go to the rear of your car, and you'll notice it has the connectors on two different sets of wire.
What you'll do is go behind your taillights and unplug the connectors on your taillights and these would plug into those connectors. Basically the one with the yellow wire in it is for the driver side. These would plug into the back of the driver's taillight. The other set here that is a single green wire that has a lot of wire, this would run over to your passenger side of your vehicle. These connectors would connect to the back of the passenger side taillight. Now the two remaining wires, the white wire that's coiled up here - that is your ground wire.
Has an eyelet on the end. This you would need to attach to a screw to get a nice clean ground. If there isn't one nearby you can just drill a hole and use the grounding screw that comes with it. The last wire is a power wire, this red wire with the butt connector on it. This would basically attach to one end of this length of 14-gauge wire. Then you run this length up through the front of your vehicle, use the other end to attach it to the butt connector on the fuse assembly. Then you'll hook the other end of this . connect the fuse assembly with the eyelet on it to your battery. That way you have a inline fuse to protect the wiring system. Then you just take this off, insert your included 15-amp fuse in there, close it, and this wiring harness would be ready to go. Now a few specs on this converter. The maximum amperage for stop and turn lights is three amps per circuit maximum. On the taillights would be six amps. That should do it for the review on part number HM11140464, the Hopkins plug-in vehicle-specific wiring harness with the 4-pole trailer connector. .
