Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the floor molding and some interior paneling to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Tail Light Converter
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. Now, this unit provides a 4-way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. The unit comes with a dust cap for the 4-way flat connector so it's going to protect the terminals when it's not connected. It also comes with a terminal grease packet for electrical connections.
It includes a tail light converter, that's this box right here. This ensures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's.The unit also features protective connection terminals to resist rust and corrosion. It is designed to connect quickly and easily so you don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. All you need to do is locate the connection points in your rear cargo area according to the instructions and plug in your connectors. Now, these connectors are custom-fit for your vehicle.
That means that they're going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle. They snap and lock together for a nice tight secure fit.Once you have those connected, you'll then need to mount the converter box to a safe out of the way location. You can do that using the included cable ties. Then, route the 4-way flat connector beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We do recommend using a mounting bracket to keep the connector secured and easily accessible.

2000 Toyota RAV4
The mounting bracket that they sell doesnt fit and they want me to pay postage to return it, the postage is more than the part. Very poor service. I will not shop with them again, there are plenty more places with the same products for less with better service.

Richard,Thank you for your review. I see that you purchased part # 43455 for a 2000 Toyota Rav4. This is a hopkins 4-pole flat trailer connector. For a 4-pole flat you will need mounting bracket part # 18144. For a no-drill option, use this part with the short bracket part # 18140 or long bracket part # 18136.
