Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins vehicle wiring harness with a 7-way RV style connector. This product fits a 1999 to 2002 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. To ensure that this is a fit for your vehicle, you can always use the vehicle fit guide at etrailer.com.This unit provides a 7-way blade style trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with 5-pole and 6-pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately. The connector itself is a really nice, durable construction. It features a spring loaded lid that keeps the connection point safe when nothing is connected.

It's pretty simple installation. It's designed to hard wire to the existing wiring on your vehicle. It does come with the plug, mounting bracket, hardware. It's going to come with some cable ties to secure any excess or slack in the wiring. It's going to come with some terminal grease.

That terminal grease gets applied to the terminals here on the connector, and that's designed to protect the terminals from rust and corrosion. All of the connectors are already attached to the ends of the wiring, so you'll notice that they all have butt connectors on them, and then the white wires are a ground wire that has a ring terminal on it, and it also comes with a grounding screw. To go over the wire functions real quick, white wire is ground, red is the reverse light, black is auxiliary power, blue is electric brakes, green is right turn, yellow is left turn signal, so left turn and brake, right turn and brake, and then brown is park and taillights. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hopkins vehicle wiring harness with the 7-way RV style connector.

  • Fixing Factory Trailer Wiring On 2004 Nissan Titan That Has Been Cut Off
Depending on how far they cut back at the factory tow package, you may be able to just a 7-Way plug like part # C55774. If they just cut off the 7-way plug but not the OEM connector port under the bumper this will work. I have attached a photo of what you will need to look for. You did say that your truck came with a factory wiring harness but if you do not have the two relays behind the panel on your dash board to the left of your steering wheel then you will need to add those from the...

  • What is the Length of the Wiring on the Hopkins # HM41145?
I went ahead and pulled the product from our inventory and confirmed that the wiring on the Hopkins Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way RV-Style Connector # HM41145 measures 8-3/4 inches from the back of the plug to the end wire connectors. I attached a diagram of that specific measurement to give you a better idea.

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring and Brake Controller for 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71
In 2001 and 2002 only the 2500 and 3500 models had the factory tow wiring. Your half ton will need to use the Hopkins Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way RV-Style Connector # HM41145. This hardwires to the existing wires. You can use # 5506 for 12v power and brake controller wiring and circuit breakers. The other functions can be spliced into at the tail lights using Bonded 4 Wire - per foot # 16-4B-1 and butt connectors # 05731-5. For your brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Primus...

  • 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness for 2001 GMC Sierra
Thanks for the purchase of the Hopkins Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way RV-Style Connector # HM41145 and we can get your 2001 GMC Sierra set up with a 5th wheel/gooseneck wiring harness for your truck bed. For that you will need the Pollak 5th Wheel / Gooseneck T-Connector with 7-Pole # PK11893-11932. Also, to prevent corrosion and increase the durability of the connector, I do highly recommend using Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors # 11755. I have added a link below to a...

  • No Blue Brake Output Wire at Back of 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 to Install a 7-Way Connector
It is entirely possible that the blue brake output wire is not run from under the hood to the back of your 2002 Chevy Silverado. This was a common issue even on models that came with a factory tow package. Check under the hood between the fuse panel and the truck body for a blue wire that has a plug on it. You will need to run a wire from that blue wire to the back of the truck. I recommend using about 25 feet of wire # 10-2-1, sold by the foot. When routing the wire be sure to avoid anything...
