Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Ford Escape with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.
Features:
Specs:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This product fits certain years and models of the Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute. You can use the vehicle fit guide located at etrailer.com to see if this is a fit for your vehicle. It's going to provide a four way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately.
Its going to come with a dust cap for 4-way flat connector. That way you can cover up the connection points whenever your plug's not being used. The black box right here, this is the included taillight converter. This ensures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. Power module connects directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring, which is going to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. This unit's designed to connect quickly and easily.
What you'll need to do is locate your connection points at the rear of the vehicle. Now, in the included instructions, it is going to indicate exactly where those connection points are. This one is going to plug into the vehicle's wiring harness, which is going to be located behind the driver's side and passenger's side taillights. Keep that in mind, but it does come with detailed installation instructions to help walk you through that process step by step. Basically, you locate your connection points according to the instructions, and plug in all of your connectors. Keep in mind that this is a vehicle specific wiring harness, so these connectors on this harness are going to be customer fit for your vehicle.
They're going to be a perfect match. They're going to interlock or snap lock together for a nice tight secure connection. Once you have all of this connected, you'll need to make a ground connection. Your ground wire is your white wire. It has a ring terminal pre-attached to it, that way you can get it grounded to a nice clean metal location with the included grounding screw.
Then you'll need to mount the converter box. It's got a couple mounts. One located on each side. That way you can get it secured easily out of the way using the included cable ties provided with the kit. Then you'll need to run the hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is this red wire coming out of the box. It's got a butt connector pre-attached to it. What you do is you would connect this wire to one end of the bundle, the other end of the bundle runs to the vehicle battery, connects the one half of the fuse holder, the half that has the ring terminal on it is going to get connected to the positive post of the vehicle battery. This wire gets connected to the bundle. The other end of the bundle gets connected to the end of the fuse holder that has the butt connector pre-attached to it. Again, the ring terminal side goes to the positive post of the vehicle battery. It does come with your 20 amp fuse, goes directly in there. It's got the fuse cap that goes over to keep it safe and protected. Then you can secure any excess or slack in your wiring with the included cable ties. Once your installation's complete, the four way connectors are going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We do recommend using a mounting bracket to keep it secure and easily accessible. Mounting brackets are sold separately. We also want to recommend that you use a small amount of the terminal grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself. That's going to help prevent corrosion to the terminals, and the packet is included. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 4.2 amps per circuit. For the taillights, it's 7.5 amps per circuit. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector.

Finding the product i needed was easy based on input of my car info. I went to a local autoservice prior to ordering from you and they gave me the wrong product even though i provided them with my car info and they look it up on their parts system. I needed a specific part and your website provides that info with easy. Additionally, your website has this videos showing me a DIY type, how to install the product on my car. I really like that. No local autoparts store is going to do that for you, at least none that i know is doing it. And it helped me a lot. Also, shopping was safe and the tracking number and receipt gave me a piece of mind. I could track my product and it was delivered on time as you said you would. Overall a great experiece. Thank you
