The first place I recommend checking is making sure the ground connection is good on the wiring harness, vehicle, trailer and all grounding connection points. Many wiring problems are caused by a bad or insufficient ground. The wiring harness # C55560 is grounded to the vehicle and this wire is white. Additional problems could also be caused by dirty or corroded connections. Examine the front and back sides of the vehicle and trailer side connectors for any dirt or corrosion and clean it out with a wire brush and battery terminal cleaner.
Another item to check is in the fuse box location, consult to your owners manual and locate the CHMSL Fuse (Center High Mounted Stop Lamp), which is your third brake light circuit. Replace the fuse if necessary.
You can also test the converter box on your wiring harness. Within the converter box, I would use a circuit tester such as # 40376 to test the wires going into the converter box. Also check the wires coming out to make sure that the converter is not bad. See if there is any loose wires behind connectors too. Also, check the fuse on the wiring harness # C55560 and replace if necessary. See diagram to the right.
Other areas on your 2006 Pontiac Torrent you should inspect is the wiring for any damaged areas where copper is visible or any spots where the jacketing on the wire is broken. If you find any damage then repair or replace the wire. See diagram to the right.
I have included a few FAQ's for you too.
