Video Transcript for Review of Goal Zero Campsite Accessories - Collapsible Solar Lantern - 287-32013

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. So we're taking a quick look at the Goal Zero Crush Light Chroma Solar Lantern. So this is going to be a nice little light that you could have for a multitude of uses, can have it just as kind of a party light since it does have different color modes, or as you're reading light and working light inside your tent while you're out camping or over landing, or just need a little bit of a light for those emergency situations. It does crush down flat so it just easily can pack up and then expand out. It's made out of a kind of silicone material, so it's pretty durable.

It also has an IP rating of IPX4, so that means it can be splashed with water and sprayed with water without any adverse effects. So even if you have this hanging somewhere outside and starts to shower on there, there shouldn't be any issues with that.As long as it's not a super heavy torrential downpour, I don't think you'll have any problems. I'm going to turn the lights out in the studio so you can get a better idea of what this looks like. So right now I have it on the candle flicker mode, so it's to kind of mimic fire light and with the different modes you'll have different run times. This one, if it's at a full charge, it runs for a total of 3.5 hours.

We also have our other modes, so that's going to be our high output, which will run for three hours. Medium will run for six hours. Low will run for 35 hours. So this would make a good sort of nightlife for you.Turn it back on, to get it into that candle light flicker mode, you're going to go all the way to low and then press and hold the button for two seconds and then it'll go into that more flickering style. If you want to change it over from the light, the white light to the colored lights, you just double press that power button, and then it'll allow you to scroll through the different colors to get the one that you want.

So I'll turn my light back on. It's kind of hard to see the colors here, but those will last for about the same runtime as your high output, so that would be three hours of run time and have several different colors to choose from there. And then again to get back into the white light, you just have to double click that button and that's the little button up there at the top. Have a little handle that we can hang this from, so it makes it easy to operate as a lantern to charge it. If you don't want to use the solar panel or if you don't have the option to, you can charge it with the provided micro USB cord, just goes to a regular USB on the other side, so plugs in any accessory that has that USB port, just open up that little flap and that's well where you'll plug in your cord. Overall, I think this is a really nice light.

It does provide you up to 60 lumens whenever it's on the highest setting, and again that output as far as how long it's going to last depends on your setting there. The charge times if you're going to be using the USB source takes about two and a half hours. If you use the Nomad solar panel, which is sold separately, that's going to be a bigger solar panel that's going to take about the same amount of time, about two and a half hours. If you just use the built in solar panel, it takes quite a bit of time, takes about 20 hours to fully charge, so just some things keep in mind there. As far as our overall size, whenever it's flattened down, measures just about five inches by about 5 3/4 inches. So these two little tabs on either side, the overall depth, whenever it's flat, it's just about an inch, maybe a little bit less. If we open it all the way up, our width will still be the same, so it will be at about 5 3/4 inches by about five inches. And then it's going to be about 4 1/8 inch tall with that little handle of the top. Overall it's about 5 1/4 inch. So pretty easy to use. It looks nice. You can have it crushed down partially if you want to just have a little bit of height to it so you can really dial it in where you want it to be. Just weighs about 3.2 ounces, so pretty light and the LEDs are going to be a long lasting designs. We won't to worry about any brittle filaments to break there. The USB cord that it comes with is just about six inches long, 5 3/4 inches long. That's going to do it for our look at the Goal Zero Pressure Light Chroma Solar Lantern. If you need any other accessories to go with this, like the Nomad Solar Panel and other items from Goal Zero, we do have a lot of options available here at etrailer.com so definitely check them out. Thanks for watching. We'll see you next time.

by:

works as advertised-over priced for what is- BUT WIFE wanted it

by:

Setup Instructions on package are hard to read due to strange colors of text.
Lamp seems to be just as we hoped a low power light to use in the Van and campsite to read by or for finding stuff in the dark of bags.
