Ellen: Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're taking a quick look at the GSI Outdoors nylon pivot spoon. This is going to save some room in your pack, but still give you a really useful ladle spoon. It's also a measuring spoon as well, to bring with you no matter where you are. So if you're going to be backpacking in, or maybe you just want to save space in your RV, this is a really nice option for you.So basically, the handle is just built in this way that you can unlock it. So you're just going to pull up on the tab, and then pivot it around, and that cuts the length in half so you don't have to worry about it taking up a whole bunch of room in a drawer or your pack, and then to open it up, you just swing it around and it locks in place, so pretty simple to use.Something that I really like about it is that it actually has measurements built into the bowl of the spoon, so you can use it as a measuring spoon, as I mentioned. So it just kind of puts two things in one tool, always nice when you get two in one.
So let's take a closer look at that bowl, I'll show you that so you can actually see those measurements are actually on this side. So we get really close in there. You can see we have measurements for tablespoons, and it's also in milliliters, so it just kind of gives you that rough estimate to help you measure out your stuff. Again, it folds really easily, so I'll show you that again here, close up. So there's just a little tab that locks into the orange part of the handle, so it is easiest if you pull up on the gray part before you swivel it around.
So here's the little tab that goes into the notch on the inside. It weighs just about an ounce, so it really doesn't take up too much weight in your pack. It measures about 6 3/4" long whenever it's folded in, and then it's about 2 1/2" wide, and about 2" deep. If we unfold it, extend it out, now it's about 10 1/2" long, and I'd say about 1 3/4" deep, the width is still going to be about 2 1/2". The hook does make it easy to dry this out and just kind of give you an option for hanging this, rather than having to set it down on a surface, which especially if you're in a camping kitchen, you don't always have a lot of surface space to work with. That's pretty much all there is to it for our quick look at the GSI Outdoors pivot spoon. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right tool for you.
We do have a lot of other gear here at etrailer.com for your outdoor or RV kitchen, so be sure to check it out, and thanks for watching..
