Bolt-on, adjustable-channel, surge brake actuator includes a heavy-duty coupler that can be mounted in 1 of 3 positions to match your application. Zinc plated for corrosion resistance. Designed for use with drum brakes.

Note: Because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes.
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.
Adjustable Channel Design
The adjustable channel on this trailer brake actuator allows for ultimate versatility. Mount almost any type of coupler (sold separately) - from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or clevis attachment - to fit your specific application. In addition, the 3 mounting positions on the channel let you adjust the height of the coupler. Just place the coupler so that it matches the height of the ball mount or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle and you will be able to tow your trailer levelly.

Today we're going to take a look at the Titan Hydraulic Drum Brake Actuator. It's a 2 5/16th hitch ball, has a three position channel, 14,000 pound weight capacity and a zinc finish. Now, this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when the tow vehicle slows or stops. The adjustable channel right up here has three different mounting positions for the coupler. The ball coupler has this nice trigger latch which will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. It has a circle grip right here which makes the latch very simple to use.
Just pull back on it, that opens it up. Drop it onto your ball and just release and it will lock into place. It uses a unique roller design right here. This reduces resistance during the telescoping to create straight line movement. You can see that on each end of the rollers they have a Zerk fitting for lubrication. It is a sturdy, durable steel construction which will resist bending in any jackknife situations.
Again, the zinc plating on this will provide corrosion resistance. The brake away kit right here, you can see the chain with the hook on it, it's all included. Just hook this to your tow vehicle and that will activate if the trailer happens to come detached from your tow vehicle. It will activate the brake for you and lock up the brakes to stop the trailer. This is a bolt on installation.
You can see right at the bottom here the holes for the bolt on installation. Now again, the application on this is for trailers with hydraulic drum brakes. The great towing weight capacity is 14,000 pounds. Maximum tongue rate is 1,400 pounds. The ball size that this fits is 2 5/16th.
This is designed to mount on a straight 3 inch wide trailer tongue. The range of adjustment right up here for this coupler, the vertical range for adjustment is 4 inches. One last note I do want to mention on this is because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, reverse lockout is usually a solenoid that's installed on the back here. This does not have one so it is recommended that you equip your trailer with eeb 00:01:55 free backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer brakes. That should do it for the review on the Titan Hydraulic Drum Brake Actuator. It's 2 5/16ths hitch ball, has a three position channel, 14,000 pound weight capacity and a zinc finish.
